Hey Everyone! I'm not a huge country fan, although there are a few country singers I like. Amanda Stott is one of them. She's from my hometown, and on April 8th, 2000 she had a CD release party at the local mall, singing some of the songs from her CD. I went there saying if I liked her music, I'd stay for the autograph session. If I didn't like her music, I wouldn't. Well, I now have a personally autographed CD and, a picture of us together!
Let me say from personal experience, she is soooo nice. And popluar! I waited for almost two hours in line just to get her autograph, and my town only has 45 000 people in it (most of them really old or really young). I didn't have my camera when I got my CD autographed, and my dad happened to have a hair appt. at the mall about 1/2 hour later, so I went back with my camera, got in the line (by that time, like nobody was left), and when I got up I asked if I could have my picture taken with her and she's like, "Oh sure!" and she stood up, posed, and let my dad take our picture.
I found out that she used to go to my school (so cool!) and was a grade ahead of my sister, so my sister would've known her by face. Also, a lot of my teachers would have taught her. I mean, that is sooo cool!
Well, enough of my personal experience, here's a brief background on her.
Her first big break came at age 11, in 1993 when she won the annual Orange Crush Talent Search competition (a local event). When Amanda was 13, she played a showcase performance at the Canadian Country Music Association Awards and Warner Canada first noticed her.
Amanda started recording in May of '99 at the Tragically Hip's studio in Bath, Ontario.
Amanda Stott graduates this June with the rest of her classmates, and I'll be sure to watch the ceremony on Ch. 12!
Stott dedicated her CD to sister Andrea Leigh-Ann, who was killed at age 3, when Amanda wasn't yet born.
Special Note To Amanda(if she actually visits this page)- Your fans in Brandon luv you! Please come back to perform again!!!! |
