Stan Freberg turned out a string of comedy records mostly in the 1950s and 1960s, satirizing various aspects of contemporary American culture, including television programs and popular music. Probably his greatest work is his United States of America trilogy (of which the first two parts have been issued) and sketches on his 1957 radio show.
Stan Freberg is not really a parodist -- rather he is a satirist who employs parody as one of the weapons in his arsenal. In fact, as a parodist he is not particularly outstanding -- compare for example his "The Lone Analyst" (a Lone Ranger parody) with his "Bang Gunleigh: U. S. Marshall Field" (a satire on the TV Western genre in general). I think most listeners would agree that the latter is by far more biting -- and funnier.
