To whosoever is the Kapampangan reading this:
The Akademya ning Kapampangan International is issuing "free franchises" to all
townsfolks that want to organize a Kapampangan study club in their town or barangay.
What I envision is akin to a local fan club. But instead of idolizing a celebrity, such as an Elvis or a Madonna, the group will be "idolizing" their language by giving it a boost in their community.
Since we in the Akademya hail from various parts of Pampanga and Tarlac, I suggest that we start our own respective groups in the place where we live or come from. For instance, Mar may start one in his own barrio, San Pablo Ist in Lubao, Nancy may perhaps start one in San Francisco, Minalin, Aida, in her barrio in Angeles, etc.
If you live in the U.S., in Dubai or in some other foreign land, you can get a contact
person in your hometown. The best contact to have would be a schoolteacher or one involved in the PTA or barrio council. If no one is organizing such a group in an adjacent barrio, an organizer may include that barrio as a part of his territory.
The groups are not to include goals other than the propagation of our language, literature and history - especially language. They have to focus on only one thing: Kapampangan. No humanitarian work. No religious work. No political work.
The group could be an offshoot of an already existing social club.
Maybe soon after it is orgnized, complete with local volunteer officers and by-laws,
the first thing to do is to go on a house-to-house campaign. The placing of signs in front of their houses would be an excellent initial project to undertake.
We may have to have in Pampanga a central headquarters for this endeavor which could be in the house of one interested in serving as over-all chairman.
What do you think of this proposition? I hope there is no problem with this right on the outset. I'd like to hear first and foremost from those that are optimistic. |
