On Arrival in the UK

All Thai passport holders arriving at the UK border must pass through immigration control. The following must be available to the immigration officer:

1. UK Border Agency completed landing card (see below.) The reverse of the card is only for use by immigration officers.

2. Passport and visa. Your passport must be removed from any holder or cover.

3. The name and address and telephone number of the person you are staying with or your hotel.

4. The name and mobile telephone number of the person meeting you as immigration may wish to contact them.

5. The name, address and telephone number of your sponsor if they are not the person meeting you.

6. The full details of your work or study in the UK including all correspondence.

7. If you are coming to the UK for more than six months you must have a valid Tuberculosis (TB) clearance certificate with you.

The immigration officer will question you about your reasons for travelling to the UK and if your answers are not satisfactory you may be refused entry and returned to Thailand on the next available flight which could result in your being held in detention for a time.

Customs checks are very strict. The regulations change frequently and you can face a large fine or even imprisonment for attempting to bring prohibited items into the UK. These include certain foods as well as medicines and narcotics.

The average time it takes to pass through customs and immigration controls is 45 minutes.
