SWEDISH HIV-VACCINE CLEARED FOR TESTING.

A leading swedish newspaper Dagen Nyheter of 1 December 2004 reported that the swedish researchers got the clearance to test an HIV-vaccine on healthy persons. Tests carried out on mouse is said to have shown that antibody against HIV is developed without the mouse getting sick from the virus.

The paper continued on to report that the vacine which is particularly made for the HIV-virus strain which has so far infected 25 million people in Africa, is meant to arrest the HIV-epidemic in the continent. The researchers will soon start testing the vacine at Södersjukhuset and Karolinska institutet on 40 people. It will then later be tested in Tanzania.

NEW STRAIN OF HIV-VIRUS IN SWEDEN.

According to a leading Swedish Newspaper Svenska Dagbladet, a new type of multiresistant hiv-virus had of recent been discovered in Stockholm. The virus which is said to be extremely resistant to all known hiv-medications is believed to have originated from USA, where 20 percent of newly infected persons in big cities carries this multiresistant strain.

The doctors believe that this strain of virus was transmitted by a person who have lived for long with hiv-infection and under many different treatments the virus mutated and developed resistant to the various hiv-medications.

UN REPORT ON HIV.

Women make up nearly half of the 37.2 million adults living with HIV and in sub-Saharan Africa the percentage rises to 60, said the report released by the United Nations on Tuesday 23-11-2004. According to Dr.Kathleen Cravero, the deputy executive director of the joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) the face of AIDS is increasingly young and female.

UN INVESTIGATES 150 CASES OF SEXUAL MISCONDUCT IN CONGO-KINSHASA.

According to the a United Nation's spokesman, there is currently ongoing investigation in the Congo on 150 reported complains of sexual misconduct by its millitary and civilian staffs. The complains includes among others pedofil, rape and prostitution. The spokesman continued on to say that there are supporting video evidences for most of the actual happenings of the sexual abuses.

Earlier the Secretary General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan confirmed the unfortunate happenings in the Congo. He continued on the say that the culprits have made him extremely furious. In May UN reported 30 incidents of sexual abuse by the millitary staff in the town of Bunia.

PROPOSAL FOR OBLIGATORY HIV TEST FOR ALL ASYLUM SEEKERS IN SWEDEN.

According to Ekot a leading Swedish Radio echoed by Swedish text TV-News 2004-11-07, The Swedish Intergration Department is of the opinion that all asylum seekers in Sweden must undergo obligatory HIV test in connection with their introduction to the country. But a leading doctor Pehr Olov Pehrsson at a HIV-Clinic at Karolinska Hospital expressed grave concern about effecting such a dangerous advice. He continued on to say that if the intention of the step is to safeguard us from the asylum seekers then he thinks it is quite wrong.

A LEADING CONGOLESE MUSICIAN JAILED IN PARIS FOR AIDING ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.

Papa Wemba known widely as the king of "rumba rock" arrested in Paris last year, was found guilty of aiding an illegal immigration racket connected with his entourage reported a net news. Bobigny court in France which handed him the sentence of 30 months, heard from a Prosecutor how 200 Congolese nationals illegally entered France with the help of his entourage. The court also decided that Papa Wemba who already spent nearly four months in jail is not going back to prison as most of the sentence is a suspended one.

NAIROBI STATE HOUSE INTRUDER A UGANDAN

As reported by a Ugandan daily newspaper "The Monitor", a person arrested on Wednesday 4th loitering on the compound of the Nairobi State House is a Ugandan by the name Robert Okello. He is said to have jumped over two fences before reaching the visinity of the Presidential office and residential complex where he was picked up by the guards. The paper continued on to add that this is the second time in months that similar incident occurs. The President was said to be out of the country.

USED UNDERCLOTHES ARE ONE OF THE SOURCES OF THE SPREAD OF DESEASES IN UGANDA

As echoed by a Ugandan local newspaper Newvision, starting January 2005 hawkers in Uganda will no longer be allowed to sell used undergarments including nighties, bras or knickers among others usually imported from the Western world. Global media report the Uganda National Bureau of Standards as saying it is one way of stopping spread of disease.

MANY ASYLUM SEEKERS FLY

As reported by a leading Swedish daily newspaper "Dagens Nyheter" it has become common that asylum seekers under the care of Swedish Imigration Authority "Migrationsverkets" often fly before the conclusion of their asylum process. At the same time the employees in charge of these asylum seekers are being subjected to more violent than before.

This year continued the paper, over 100 persons fled. Most asylum seekers affected are often those awaiting deportation from the country. As the result the whole situation concerning the process had been put under scrutiny at the request of the General Director Janna Valik.

According to Eva Zimmerman the custodian chief in Malmö, the increase in violent is as a result of the many bogus asylum seekers who come into the country mostly from the former Soviet Union or Africa and often young people.

BANKOMAT SWINDLERS CAPTURED ON BANK CAMERA

According to a local Swedish newspaper "Extra Östergötland", two bankomat swindlers were captured on the secutity camera of a bank in the town of Linköping when placing a card reading machine equiped with miniture camera. This came to light after two ladies noticed the abnormality of the opening for the card and raised alarm. On arrival the police and the bank security officials after examination couldn't notice the fake machine which looks like the normal part of the bankomat. But after further careful examination they discovered the machine which they say was more advanced than the earlier ones used by the swindlers. It is known that the swindlers use the machine to copy information contained in the cards and the camera picture of owners punching the codes which are then transmitted and stored to a remote location and later used for emptying the affected bank accounts.

The swindlers which are known to be a syndicate are mobile, said to be moving round from town to town and even country to country. Their movements as of late is said to be concentrated between Denmark and Sweden. Norrköping, a town in Sweden was the last known victim and now Linköping. The police is said to have activated a country-wide search for the two swindlers.

SWEDISH POLICE LOOKING FOR A MENTALLY UNSTABLE PERSON FOR DOUBLE MURDER

Police is still looking for the man which last Tuesday knived to dead a 8 year old boy and a 56 year old woman to death on a road in Linköping, a town in southern Sweden. According to a swedish tv text, the police still have no concrete lead but are hopefull of solving the case. The report quoting the chief investigator indicated that a further discovery had been made and that the mentally unstable man being looked for is in his 20s. It had also been reported that the police have interogated hundreds of people and have so far not come up with a suspect for the double murder.
