WHEELER FAMILY

I am looking for family of MOSES WHEELER born in Bradford Co. Pa. July 25, 1834. He fought in the Civil War as a volunteer from Bradford Co. in 141st Reg. Co. A Infantry. He joined in Aug. 1862 and was wounded in 1864. His wife is named in one of the papers from National Archives as Anne. I can find nothing else about her. My great grandmother must have been a second wife to Moses because her name was Isabel Brewer from Illinois. I am not sure of Moses parents names, but I suspect they may be Isaac Wheeler and Damie Vanderpool, also from Bradford County, Pa.

David and Elizabeth Garver

David Garver born 1797 in Scotland, Pa. married believe 2nd time to Elizabeth Moore also of same. He died june 2, 1860 in Sparta, Ill. found death notice by accident in a Pa. paper while surfing the internet. If you go to Tribal pages.com and go to Jacob Garver Tree using password snowballs2u2 you can get into the website and the documents on his death are all posted there. He is the uncle of my g. father Jacob Garver. that is all I pretty much have on David except what you see in that tribalpages. I have no pictures and very little on Jacob himself. any help would be greatly appreciated.by the way, our Jacob was born 1825 and supposed deth 1879. NO proof.

I just got off 11 hours work and realized I posted that Jacob Garver was my g. father, he was my g. g. father. Jacob first married to Elizabeth Wilcox which I have marriage certificate then married Rebecca Jane Parker who was from Kaskaskia Island, Ill. Jacob and Elizabeth's son James was born Ava, Ill. James married Malinda Modglin and they had Vannie Garver who was my adopted father. Found that he was actually a relative.Vannie and Malinda and James all lived in Ava, Ill. ckreoiwm@hotmail.com

Isaac Mcpherson

I am Looking for information on Isaac (Issac) Mcpherson Possibly born in PA ( or NY or NJ according to his sons in census records). His son Philip Mcpherson b. April 1826 Lambertville, Hunterdon CO, NJ d. April 13 1920 Hamilton, Caldwell CO MO., lists his father as being born in scotland on his death cert but census shows ( in different years) NJ, NY and PA, and his mother is listed name unknown and what looks to be (hard to read) Ser(orSA)ganto Vill. New Jersey.

Philip had one brother I know Of John Mcpherson born 1823 Hunterdon Co. NJ ( who I decend from) died 1904 Connersville Indiana. Johns Death Cert doesn't list parents at all.

I hav not yet been able to find any more information on Isaac Mcpherson, however in searching I see that Lambertville is right by the state line could the family have lived in PA?

Thank You for any Help you can give

Native sons of Pennsylvania

I am looking for any information about a group that may still be around, that was definatly around during the mid 1900's, that was/is called the Native Sons of Pennsylvania. This organization was based in Pittsburgh. My grandfather, white male, born 1906 in Richmond Co., VA, was a member. He disapeared in the summer of 1964 and has never been seen again. I do not know what this group was about, it may have something to with the Rev. War era. I do have my Grandfather's membership card still so if anyone wants to see it and the address it gives, let me know by emailing me at ECOnlon1977@yahoo.com. I am lost on this one. Everything I pull up leads to dead ends or African American sites. I haven't found one African in the family and I have parts of it going back to late 1400's. So I don't think it's the organizations listed on the search engines. I'd really would like to find this info in hopes maybe someone still alive remembers him or even has photos of him. He disapeared about 13 years before I was born. I'd like to get to know him better and this may be the way. Thanks again and sorry for such a long posting.

Estep Mystery

First, thanks for the invite Ronda! Your website looks fun and up to date, I really like the style.

I could really use help solving the mystery of my maternal grandfather's birth. I want to find out if his half-sister Susan was actually his mother, or if they shared the same parents.

Edgar LeRoy "Roy" ESTEP
b: 4-18-1898 ???
d. 04 Oct. 1954

He first appears in the 1900 Census, Antis Township, Blair County, PA -
Parents: Elijah and Anna Estep
dau. Susan is age 25 born Feb 1875
son Roy is age 2 born April 1898
[Anna is Elijah's 2nd wife, Phoebe was his 1st and the mother of Susan]

He next appears in the 1910 Census, Antis Township, Blair County, PA -
Parents: Susan L. [Estep] Piper and Daniel S. Piper
son: LeRoy, age 12
dau: Lola M. [Leola], age 6 months.
This is a 2nd marriage for both Susan and Daniel. Susan has given birth to 3 children, 2 are still living. Elijah and Anna are both still living in Antis with other of their children.

Based on that, I strongly think that Susan is his mother, not his sister. But in the #1 resource book for Estep [ESTEP, Thomas Sr. (c.1709 - c.1772) of Frederick County, Maryland and His Descendants, compiled by Margaret Elizabeth Vidal, Mary Mellichampe, Linnaria Wheland and Martin F. Hanson, M.D., copyrighted 1994.] it's insisted that he is the child of Elijah and Anna. I need some proof otherwise and I hate the record being wrong. My mother especially wants to know - her Dad died when she was only 10 so she never had a chance to ask anything.

I've written to the state for a birth record - they can't find it. Marriage records? Susan's obit? She died before the 1920 Census when Daniel is listed as a widow with dau. Leola.

Any help, suggestions, anything at all is most appreciated. I would so like to make my mom happy, I just don't know what to do next.

I'm in NM if you ever need anything here.

Thank you!
