| Mets GM Steve Phillips is at the General Manger's Meetings in California discsussing many deals and players like Ken Griffey, Jr. and David Wells. The Mets and Toronto Blue Jays had came up with a deal that would send David Wells and slugging first baseman Carlos Delgado (.272, 44 homers, 134 RBi last year)to the Mets. and the Blue Jays would be getting outfielders Roger Cedeno and Jay Payton, pitchers Masato Yoshii and Octavio Dotel, and a prospect in the deal. That would mean that there is no place at first base with Delgado for John Olerud. The Mets might have to trade Olerud (who right now is a free agent) to Seattle in a deal to get Griffey. I'll keep you updated on all the Mets news as it comes in. |
