| The Mets and Astros made a trade. The Mets sent OF Roger Cedeno and P Ocatvio Dotel to the Astros, and the Mets got 22-4 P Mike Hampton, and OF Derek Bell. Mike Hampton should have won the Cy Young Award last season, but Randy Johnson, of the Arizona Diamondbacks, won it. Derek Bell didn't have that good of a year last year, but Mets GM Steve Phillips says that Bell will have a bounce back year this season. Speed OF Roger Cedeno was tough to give up, becuase he is just developing into a star OF. Young P Octavio Dotel, 24 years old, was thought by many people to be the next Pedro Martinez. But the Mets had to give them up, the finally got their ace- Hampton. He is one of the best pitchers in all of baseball next to- Roger Clemens, David Wells, Greg Maddux, Pedro Martinez, Jose Lima, and Randy Johnson. Every team has their aces- Yankees-Clemens, Red Sox-P. Martinez, Astros-Lima, D-Backs--Johnson, Braves-Maddux, etc. And now you can classify the Mets, finally, as one of the teams in baseball with one of best pitchers around.
