April 10th
Whilst the leaders Brigg with Promotion hopefulls
Nth Ferriby go marching on Liversedge havn't given up
the fight for the title yet either.
Gilchrists side Liversedge won 1-0 against Thackley
after Toronczak was brought down and Carter hit the
resultant free kick in on the half hour,this defeat
for Thackley plunged them back into relegation
trouble.
Brigg with a 3-1 win stay top, and a Walton goal gave
Nth Ferriby a 1-0 win against Hallam.
Improving Alfreton lost out to Garforth fresh after
their League Cup win over Sheffield in midweek,the
goalscorers were henry after some good running
from Arkle on 55 minutes, then Alfreton had two
players sent off finally for Arkle to bang into
an empty net after a cross from Baldwin for the
second goal.The third player was sent off after
appeals against the goal. Watt gave Ossett Albion
a first half lead against Sheffield,Amos and Adams
ensured the points before a last minute Sheffield
goal from Hawke.Meanwhile croad scored for Selby
against Brodsworth Vicarage hit the equaliser
on 63 minutes for Welfare.
In Division One their was little change at the to
as Goole drew 0-0 but are up allready.
The match at Maltby Main was abandoned as a brawl
broke out on the field, the referee calling it
off in the Premier Division, taking both Main and
Armthorpe Welfare off.
April 17th
Brigg with a 1-0 win remain at the top,whilst Nth
Ferriby hit 4 at garforth,Barnwell who charged down
a goal kick started things off, then France,as well
as Stead added to the total, meanwhile Newey scored
twice for Denaby as they beat Liversedge 2-1,Sobers
meanwhile opened for Thackley against Armthorpe
Welfare but still lost 3-1.
In the first division a Gibson 65th minute goal set
the scene and late goals on 82, and 88 minutes from
Burkinshaw and Burdick sealed a 3-0 win over Mickleover
Sports.
April 18th
Goole 2 Pontefract 1 WS Trophy Final 1st Leg
A ver wet pitch after a days heavy rain made good
football dificult, but both sides rose to the task
Goole started the better and on 14 minutes Severn
scored the opener.
Pontefract fought back and matched Goole for long
spells,and three minutes after the break Fellows put
the ball in to level.Goole however came back in
numbers, and within 3 minutes from a free kick Clegg
restored the Goole lead, and subsequently a 2-1 win.
April 19th
Hall Road Rangers 2 Hull City 0 East Riding S Cup SF
A startling show from the NCE League club who fully
deserved their victory, the first goal on 20 minutes
when Palmer after a good run rounded baker in the
City goal, and the second 2 minutes from time after
a handball saw Richards calmly score from the spot.
Hall Road now meet Nth Ferriby on May 2nd in the final
April 22nd
In the Premier Division Alfreton just about ended the
title hopes of Brigg as a Cheetham winner gave them a
2-1 win against Brigg.Meanwhile Buxton fight on to
avoid the drop and beat Liversedge 2-1 Carter scored
the Sedge consilation goal, Burgess and Russell a goal
each for Thackley who beat Denaby United 2-0, whilst
Maltby Main move up with a 6-1 win over Staveley MW,
Walley and Davey netted for Harrogate Railway in a 2-0
win over Eccleshill.
Radford and Bambrook scored for Brodsworth against
Garforth.
April 26th
Goole travelled to Pontefract Collieries for the second
leg of the WST Final after falling behind in the first
half, Goole equalised,then grabbed a second half second
to win the tie 4-2 on aggregate.
In the Presidents Cup Final Glasshoughton drew 1-1 with
North Ferriby, the East Yorkshire side won 5-1 on
aggregate.
News that Maltby Main may be demoted next week due to the
non completion of ground improvements required some two
years ago means that with no likely NPL relegatee no
one may be relegated apart from Maltby Main.
April 29th
In the Premier Division Staveley just about ended the
threat of relegation with a 3-1 win against Hallam.
Meanwhile Eccleshill won 2-1 against Maltb Main
who could loose their place not only in the division
but also in the league for ground problems, more specif-
-icaly changing room design which does not fall into the
Leagues criteria, but falls within the Welfares budget.
meanwhile back to the match Uniteds scorers were Senior
and Hill, whilst Clarke obtained the Main reply.
Railway need only a point from 2 games to be safe, and
at Denaby Harrogate scored first through Edmunds and
on the whole deserved more, until United fought back
with a Newey goal on the hour.Garforth returned to
old habits of throwing leads away, after Bray had given
them a 26th minute lead and on 56 minutes a Henry corner
was deflected in for an own goal,then Town began to falter
Dickinson and Elliott played a one-two for the former to
pull a goal back,that on 68 minutes,then on 74 minutes
Fox headed in to equalise.On 80 minutes a Dickinson pull
from the touchline to a cross ball saw Baldwin tap in the
Glasshoughton winner.North ferribys Flounders scored three
in the 5-2 win against Alfreton Annan scored the other 2.
May 3rd
Denaby scored a 3-0 success against Sheffield, all the
goals coming in the first half from Brannigan, Newey
with a header and Axcell, whilst Nth Ferriby took the
East Riding Cup with a hard worked 2-1 win against Hall
Road Rangers.
Thackley lost at home to Garforth tonight but could still
avoid relegation with Maltby Mains problems and no one
likely to join the league from the Northern Premier
League.
May 9th
Nth Ferriby came back to recieve the league crown by
beating Sheffield 2-1 assisted by an own goal, whilst
Ossett Albion beat Liversedge 2-1 Liversedge opened
the scoring from Glover, then Amos and Watt scored the
Albion goals,Glasshoughton lost 2-1 at home to Denaby
Fox scoring the first goal,then Reed equalised for
United on 65 minutes, Tonge wrapped up for United 10
minutes later.Davy, Darville, and Ames hit the three
Harrogate Railway goals against Maltby Main.
Buxtons Poole scored a brace against Eccleshill to
lift them out of the bottom two,Cochraine scored for
Eccleshill.
The fate of the management meeting to decide the fate
of Maltby Main and promotion positions is on Thursday.
