August 31st
***********
Yes we're back after a two week holiday, so its
on to the news.
Pride of place went to Armthorpe Welfare in the FA
Cup on August 21st with a 4-0 drubbing of Garforth.
Welfare dominated the match with Erskine opening
with a long range effort,Johnson followed up a
Curry free kick to put them 2-0 up early in the
second half,Ridley the ex Doncaster youth made it
3-0, and Johnson finished for 4-0.Brodsworth 1-0
winners against Sth Shields also did the league
proud, Smith grabbing the winner on 20 minutes,
Denaby let a goal in each half to go down without
a battle, whilst poor Rossington travelled the long
distance to Gretna and were well beaten 5-0.
Hatfield battled away to win a 4-3 thriller against
Pontefract in the league one, Mayne, and Powell
in the first half, Danville, and Laurens in the
second. A strange incident where Maltby won 2-1 at
Buxton, as the Buxton keeper threw the ball into
his own net in the last minute, Buxton leading in
the 28th minute, a Tesh equaliser put the match at
1-1, then the bizarre last minute goal gave Maltby
the win.
On August 28th a Sobers effort on 47 minutes gave
Thackley the points against Arnold, whilst N Ferriby
scored three, Annon, Waites, and Morris, whilst
Jason Swann scored the Hallam effort, a double from
Cygan helped Selby to a 2-2 draw at Alfreton, and
Radford hit 2 for Brodsworth in their 4-1 win over
Maltby Oxen and Guest scoring the other two.
Garforth beat Harrogate 3-1 with Bambrook opening
on 13 minutes,Sibson scored the second on 57, and
Bambrook added the third after Flaherhy and Henry
creating.Hart scored harrogates consilation goal.
Severn scored four of Gooles goals in a 5-1 at
home to Borrowash, Paul Elton scoring the other,
whilst Bridlington managed a 1-1 home draw with
Gibson scoring on 19 minutes against Hall Road.
Whilst away in NCEL Land watching Denaby draw at
home 0-0 with Armthorpe, and 0-0 with Liversedge
the league has begun to take shape.

action Liversedge v Denaby Utd 0-0

Brigg at present leading on the back of some good
solid results, and Brodsworth in second, currently
the suprise.
Its a little odd at present as many teams have got
games to catch up on others, so the table looks a
little confusing.
In division one its probably as expected with Goole
up there, and Hall Road ambitious just above them.
Bridlington are finding it a little harder then they
expected, whilst Mickleover Sports going well in the
cup have only a drawn match played.
This weekend sees the FA Cup yet again and some 14
sides battling out for a 2nd Qualifying Round spot.
It is expected that Liversedge if they can get it
together upfront should go through, Brigg Town,
Glasshoughton, and Arnold are likely to join them,
whilst on Sunday Sheffield should win against the
Brodsworth MW side which they drew in the league
away on Bank Holiday Monday.
Nth Ferriby could go on if they beat a battling
Netherfield side, but Armthorpe at Crook, Pickering
at Chester Le Street, Eccleshill at home to Marske
Glapwell at Hinckley Utd, and Mickleover at Moor
Green as well as Staveley at home to Blakenhall
will have hard games to persue any further FA Cup
ambitions.
To all our Northern Counties East Sides -
Good Luck.

September 4th
*************
Congratulations to Liversedge who finally saw off
a brave Woodley Sports 3-2 in the FA Cup, that
after going 2-0 down thanks to Carter, Thomas and
Toronczak who did the damage to a brave Sports & to
Brigg who set about league colleagues Harrogate
Rail 4-0, Eccleshill with the same score against
Marske, Stuart Taylor scoring all four goals the
first after only 4 minutes, the second on 12 minutes,
his third on 84 a penalty, and the 4th on the whistle
Arnold T who hammered Halesowen Harriers
4-0, and Nth Ferriby who now are known as the
scourge of the NPL with a hard fought 3-2 win
over Netherfield Kendal, two sides with replays
this midweek are Louth at home to Hebburn and
Pickering Town at home to St Helens.
The draw for the next round is on the fixtures page
but the highlight there must be Belper v Arnold,
what a great game that should be.
In the league Denaby were forced to swith to play
at Alfreton, blame the local FA for that, and went
down 1-0, lots of bookings and a sending off,see
the Denaby pages, whilst Garforth perked up and
took a 4-1 win from Ossett Albion. In division one
Goole were halted at Hall Road and Bridlington won
at Hatfield 2-0, Pontefract won at last 2-1 against
Parkgate.

September 7th
*************
This evening both Louth 4-2 and Pickering 3-2 has
terrific wins in the FA Cup, Louth made slight work
of Hebburn, whilst St helens one of the better
North West Counties League sides fell at Division

next round. Louth face Northern Premier Emley at
the Welfare Ground.
The draw has been made for the third qualifying

North ferriby could face Pickering Town at home
Arnold T could be at home to Tamworth or Spalding
Eccleshill could be away to Bradford PA or Droylsden
and Brigg could be at Gateshead or Winsford. all
depending on the second round results.
The mean Denaby defence continues as a well earned
point at Arnold Town was obtained,North Ferriby
United are moving up to challange early as a 3-0
win at Maltby shows.

September 8th
*************
Brigg were the top scorers this evening with a
5-2 win against the Railway men.

FA Vase
Pridge of place this evening must go to 10 goal
heroes Eccleshill United who totally demolished
Blackpool Mechanics 10-1, they now face Prudhoe
Town in the next round, the demolition began in
the 10th minute when Newsome rolled in the first
and continued 4 minutes later when Hamer scored,
shortly later Heppenstall, and Newsome again made
it 4-0, and by the 22nd minute Taylor added the
5th,four minutes later Newsome scored his third
but Danny Porter pulled one back for Mechanics
on 29 minutes, Grist scored Eccleshills 7th in
the 37th minute to make it 7-1 at half time.
Allthough United eased a little in act 2, but
Heppinstall added 2 more on 56, 85 "penalty",
to put the home side 9-1 up, and when Cochrane
came on and added the last minute effort, the
10 goal barrier had been hit.
Also through Denaby with a last minute goal by
Watt against a stubborn Bacup Borough, Bridlington
who took care of ex Vase winners Newcastle Blue
Star 2-1,Holyer opened for Blue Star on 14, but
Harper equalised in the 75th, and Hopkins ensured
a next round tie with a goal on 83 minutes Louth
who did a 3-2 over Salford City, and Liversedge who
beat fellow NCEL Rossington 3-1, Sheffiel ex final
stars lost at Squires Gate,Godber scoring the Club
Reply and Worsborough Bridge found Shotton to strong
bowing out 3-1.Hooley scoring the opening goal for
the home side on 51 minutes.
Liversedge 3-1 victors over Rossington Main had
two goal Dyson to thank, with Carter adding the other.
In the League Glasshoughton join Brigg on top after
a 4-0 against Staveley whilst in Division One Goole
beat Collieries 2-0 to go top of the division.
On Sunday Hallam lost at home in the Vase to Thackley
3-1.

September 17th News
*******************
FA Cup action this weekend, and a number of our league
sides do battle against various leagues teams.
Difficult tasks for Arnold Town who make the short
trip accross to Belper NPL division 1, and Louth Utd
from our division 1 who play at cup battlers Emley
nesting second in the NPL premier division.
Brigg Town make the trip to Surrey Rd and do battle
with Ashton Utd hoping for at least a replay, but the
NPL division 1 side very close to promotion for the
last 2 seasons are expecting a next round tie.
Sheffield recieve this seasons NPL division 1 suprise
side Farsley Celtic where two friends in the shape of
Sheffield manager John Pearson and Celtics Peter Gunby
ex colleagues at Leeds teams meet, the venue, the
magnificent Don Valley Stadium.
NCEL 1 Pickering Town face Guiseley away from the NPL
whilst confidence is high in the Eccleshill camp for the
away tie at NPL Gainsborough Trinity, especially after
the 10-1 win in last weeks FA Vase.
Liversedge boosted their ego with a 5-0 win midweek
and hope to see off Dunstan Federation from the
Northern League, whilst Nth Ferriby away to Billingham
Synthonia should at least get a replay.
So the question who's going to win.
Well at Soccer Club Swap Shop we reckon, Liversedge
and North Ferriby, to be joined by Sheffield, and we
also think Brigg could sneak a win, whilst Eccleshill
could take Trinity to a replay, the rest well you
never know, the cups a great leveller.

September 18th
**************
Congratulations to Brigg Town who demolished NPL
Ashton Utd away and now have to face Gateshead
away in the third Qualifying Round, whilst Nth
Ferriby saw off a stubborn Billingham Synthonia
with a good away win in strong windy conditions
allthough the giant Paul Brown scored first for
the home side on 55 minutes, Flounders equalised
on 80, and ended the contest from a Annan corner
on 83 minutes to send North Ferriby through to
face a difficult task against Guiseley in the next
Round
The NCEL could also be represented by Sheffield
in the next round as they replay Farsley Celtic
on Tuesday after a 0-0 draw which the Club could
of won.

NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS

and our three remaining sides could face- as follows
North Ferriby away to Nuneaton Borough
Brigg Town away to Telford
Sheffield away to Altrincham

September 24th
**************
FA Vase day tommorrow sees a large number of NCEL
clubs competing, and it is expected that a large
contingent will see the next round.
Ties of this round include Selby Town v classy
Newcastle Town who have hopes of a good vase run
themselves, whilst Eccleshill who hit 10 in the
last round against Blackpool M will find Prudhoe
a little more difficult, but must be high in the
confidence area, powerful Durham City second in
the Northern League play hosts to Hatfield Main
in what should be a fascinating encounter, and
Goole top of division one will have a real battle
against the powerful Garforth Town, good luck to
all our teams.

September 25th
**************
Well we lost a few in this afternoons FA Vase, we
lost Hatfield Main beaten by a rampant Durham City
pace makers with Beddlington Terriers in the Northern
League 7-1, whilst Harrogate Railway went out to
another Northern League side, thumped at home 6-1,
Danny Ames providing the consilation goal.
Denaby United also faced another Northern League
side, and went down 5-1, Easington opening after
38 minutes, then getting a couple more prior to
Newey pulling one back for Denaby from a pinpoint
cross.
However Easington went on to score another 2 goals.
The good news has to be Selbys fine 4-1 win over
North West Counties St Helens Town, Eccleshills 4-2
win over Prudhoe Northern league, even though after
extra time, Prudhoe opened the scoring Taylor and
Heppinstall putting Eccleshill 2-1 up, but then on
the 81st minute Prudhoe equalised taking the match
into extra time, but Taylor on 105 minutes and Neil
Grist on 107 minutes finished the tie off for Utd
Pickerings 3-1 over Fleetwood.
Inter league the 4-0 win by Goole top of division
one over Garforth Town must take the headlines.
Goole opened their account on 19 minutes, Garforth
keeper Price blocking Cleggs goalbound effort, but
Clegg followed up and the Garforth demise was on,a
second goal by Clegg on 45 minutes made it 2-0, and
on 64 minutes, from a cross the Garforth keeper
punched the ball out, for Horne to make it 3-0, it
took until the last minute for Severn to edge the 4th
on the break as Town were pushing up.
Liversedge were knocked out by Armthorpe Welfare on
89 minutes, as a 0-0 scoreline looked the result, as
Mark Smith had other ideas.
Dickinson opened the scoring for Glasshoughton at
home to Ashington, Metcalfe equalised and the win
was thanks to a Neil Jackson effort on 84 minutes.
In the Premier divisions big game a Lee Bradley goal
gave Ossett Albion the lead on 15 minutes, however
Flounders equalised on 31 minutes.

September 30th
**************
Some big wins in the Premier Division last night as
Brigg warmed up for Gateshead in the FA Cup this
Saturday with a 4-1 home win against Eccleshill Utd,
Hallam scored 7 past a normally so tight Armthorpe
Welfare, and Sheffield lifted themselves off the last
position with a 5-0 home win against Harrogate Railway
scorers for Club were Hoe 3 mins, Godber 52, Wood 68, &
80 mins, and McKeever on 85 minutes.
Apart from Brigg facing Gateshead in the FA Cup on
saturday North Ferriby have to play Guiseley at home
and player Vince Brockie would like nothing more than
to knock his former team Guisely out, "we are capable
of doing it" he told reporters, Vince will hopefully
be match fit after having plaster removed Friday.

October 2nd
***********
The last two Northern Counties east League sides said
goodbye to FA Cup glory this afternoon.
Brigg were outplayed at Northern Premier League side
Gateshead, and Nth Ferriby allthough not totally out
played foung Guiseley to good at home going down 3-1.
In the league Eccleshill opened up with a goal on 42
minutes, Cochrane the scorer, but Godber equalised for
Sheffield on 55 minutes, a penalty.Railway opened well
against Brodsworth McDaid and Hart putting the 2-0 up
but a fight back with three late goals saw Brodworth
take the points. In division 1 two goals from Jamie
Little and one from Flynn plus a late Flaherty effort
gave Yorkshire Amateur a 4-0 victory over Bridlington.
