Part one

Cameron stood anxiously in the airport. Her stomache in knots. In her hands
she held a small poster with the word "Joey" written in bright, bold
letters. Beginning to get impatient, she glanced at her watch. Her eyes
wandered all over the airport. Searching. Excitement filled her as she saw a
group of five gorgeous guys coming toward her. She began looking in every
direction. Pretending not to see them.
"Cam!" One of them yelled, walking faster toward her.
"I'm sorry... do I know you?" She asked, trying to keep a straight face.
"Haha! Very funny." He replied, getting a little worried. "It's your BEST
FRIEND... Joey!"
She smiled. "I'm sorry, you can't be my best friend, see... the last time I
saw my best friend Joey, he had BROWN hair... You have some kind of reddish
orangey thing going on. You can't POSSIBLY be him." She joked.
"Come here, ya brat!" He laughed and gave Cameron a huge bear hug. "I liked
your sign, by the way."
"Hey, thanks. It was either that or a HUGE sign that said 'N Sync. And when
you got off the plane, I was going to start yelling 'JOEY YOU'RE HOT!!!' But
I decided that you get that enough already...."
Joey smiled at her. "So, how've you been, girl?"
"Pretty good. School's been tough. Ya know, the norm.... What did you do to
your hair, Joe?"
"What? You don't like??? I dyed it... a few times."
"Yeah, I noticed. It's phat Joey! Just like you!" She laughed.
She looked over at the other guys. "And... your names were.... Howie, AJ,
Brian, and Nick, right???" She joked.
"Ouch." Chris replied. "That really hurt, Cam." He gave her a hug.
"I was just kidding, Chris."
"We know. We know you love us!" He smiled at her.
Lance gave her a hug next. "Hey, sweetie. Good to see you again."
"You too." She walked up to JC and hugged him. "Hey J."
JC smiled widely. "Hey, Cameron."
"I missed you.... all of you."
"CAMERON!" Justin gave her a huge hug and picked her up, spinning her
around. "Wow, it feels like it's been years!"
"I know! Can you believe I haven't seen you guys in seven months!"
"A lot's happened since then." Lance began.
"Yeah! You're going to get to meet Victoria!" Joey remembered.
"Who's Victoria?" Cameron asked.
"My girlfriend... this month will be our five month anniversary." Joey
stated proudly.
"Oh..." Cameron felt uneasy. She was shocked.
"Hey, Megan's coming in a few days." Chris said.
Megan was Chris's best friend. She and Cameron met up at one of 'N Sync's
first concerts and became really great friends.
"Yeah, she called me." Cameron smiled at Chris who was glowing with
excitement.
They all began talking about all of the things that had been happening since
they last saw Cameron. She was so happy to be with them again.
"Hey! We've got the sixth back now, guys!" Justin joked. "Now we're 'N Synnc
again!"
THE SIXTH was the nickname the guys had dubbed for her. When the group
started, Cameron always went to the rehearsals and helped them find gigs.
She always tried to go to concerts, but lately she had been too busy.
"Hey, let's get out of this airport..." Lance suggested.
Joey, Cameron and Justin piled into the first limo and Chris, JC and Lance
hopped into the other one.
"Hey! You're going to get to meet my girl, too." Justin mentioned.
"Great! I can't wait! It's good to have a girl to hang out with when you
guys start getting all gross and have your burping contests." She joked.
The guys laughed. "You're just jealous cause you don't have our gift of
gas." Joey joked back.
Justin laughed and glanced into the window to check out his hair.
"Oh, Justin. I saw you on Leno and I've gotta tell you, I was really diggin'
the new hair color." She remembered.
"Yeah. I liked it too, but I like blond best." He replied.
Cameron laughed to herself. When she first met the guys, Justin was the
hardest for her to get along with. He knew he was hot and that really got on
her nerves. He had a good heart, though, and he would do anything for his
friends. After she got to know him better, he became one of her favorite
people to talk to.
Joey began to talk about his new girlfriend, Victoria, and how wonderful she
was. Cameron could feel the "little green monster" (jealousy) creeping in.
She just smiled at Joey and pretended to listen to him.
When the got to the hotel, three bellhops ran out to greet them and to carry
their luggage for them.
"I forgot how great it is to hang out with you guys." Cameron joked.
They crammed into the elevator and went to the seventh floor.
As they stood in front of the doors that led to their rooms, Lance pulled
out a stack of straws from his jeans pocket. "Okay, guys. Let's draw."
One by one the guys drew straw while Cameron watched in amusement.
Lance overlooked the straws. "Alright. Chris and Joey share a room, JC and I
will share a room... and Justin gets to be the loner."
"YEAH!" Justin yelled in triumph and stuck his tongue out at the other guys.
Joey walked over to Cameron. "You're going to be sharing a room with
Victoria when she gets here. I want you two to become best friends because
you're my two best girls." He smiled.
Cameron nodded and grabbed a key from Lance. The guys did the same and began
to get settled in.
Cameron set all of her stuff down next to her bed and walked out onto the
balcony of her hotel room which overlooked the ocean. It was so great to be
back in Florida with the guys. Everything was back to normal.... almost.

Part two

While Cameron was unpacking her things, she heard a knock on the door. "It's
open!" She called out.
Justin opened the door to her room. "Hey. Kitty should get here pretty
soon."
"Who's Kitty?" Cameron was curious.
"Kitty... Kristen's my girl!"
"Oh yeah? So tell me about her..."
Justin walked into the room and sat down. "Well, she's a great girl. I've
known her since we were like eight, but nothing really started between us
until a few months ago."
"You like her a lot, huh?"
"Yeah. See, that's the thing... I LIKE her a lot. But she keeps telling me
that she loves me and I'm not really sure if I'm ready to say that yet....
ya know what I mean?"
"Definitely!" Cameron stopped unpacking and sat down next to him.
"What do you think I should do? Do you think I should just say it to her
even if I'm not really ready or do you think I should just ignore it?"
"I don't know. I can't tell you what to do.... But, If I were you I
wouldn't say it if I didn't truly mean it...."
Justin thought over what Cameron had said. "But what do I say when she says
it to me???"
"Hmmm... 'Thank you'? I don't know. I guess that if I were her.... and I
told you that I loved you and you didn't really say it back... HOPEFULLY I'd
understand that you just weren't ready yet. I mean, it's better to not say
it at all than to take it back later. Ya know?"
She paused. "Does that help you out at all???"
He smiled. "Actually, it does... in a weird sort of... confusing way."
They laughed.
Justin playfully slapped her on the knee. He stood up and walked to the
door. "I'm gonna go get a soda or something. You want anything?"
She shook her head.
"Alright." He replied. "Thanks, Cam."
"Anytime."
He walked out of the room. Cameron smiled as she watched him walk down the
hallway. She was glad that she could help him out.

I'm gonna go get a soda.
Ya want anything?"
"Sure. I'll go with ya." Lance replied.
They headed down the steps toward the vending machines. Justin was talking
about how excited he was that Kristen would be there in a few hours. Lance
lost all concentration when he saw the most beautiful girl he had ever laid
eyes on walk past them.
"Did you see her?" Lance asked Justin
"Who?" Justin questioned.
"The girl that just walked by!"
"I don't see a girl."
Lance looked around. She had disappeared. "She was just here. She walked
right by us. Honestly. I wasn't imagining it."
"I believe you Lance.... but she's gone now."
Lance shrugged and continued walking.

Cameron knocked on Joey's door.
"Come on in." Chris yelled.
She walked in the room. "Hey."
Before she could say anything else, Chris stated, "Joey went down to the
gift shop to get something for Victoria."
Cameron hesitated. "Oh..."
"Are you okay Cameron?" Chris started. "I mean, you've been acting kinda
distant ever since... Well, ever since you found out about Victoria...."
"I wish you didn't know me so well, Chris." She joked.
Cameron walked in and sat down on the floor. "It came as quite a shock.
And... I guess I was a little... jealous... when I heard it." She paused.
"Have you ever heard the story of how Joey and became friends?"
"Refresh me." Chris replied.
"I was a freshman and he was a sophomore. We didn't have any classes
together or anything but we had mutual friends. They thought that we would
get along really well, so they set us up on a date. So we went out and we
hit it off immediately. After that we were inseparable. We sat together at
lunch, went everywhere together, talked on the phone... after about a week
Joey decided that we shouldn't date anymore because we were becoming such
great friends... best friends. I agreed even though I really liked him.... I
guess I figured that at least I'd have him as a best friend. But after that
I had this crush on him.... he doesn't even know it, though....... That's
why I was kind of jealous when I heard about his new girlfriend. The thing
is..."
Joey walked into the room carried a bag. "Oh, hey Cameron!"
Chris rolled his eyes at Joey. "Man! We were in the middle of something
here!"
"It's okay." Cameron smiled. "I have to go get changed into something nicer
for dinner anyway."
"Hey, Cameron, look at the teddy bear I got for Victoria. You think she'll
like it?"
Cameron nodded her head. "It's cute, Joey."
Chris gave her a sympathetic smile and she left the room.
Joey walked into the room and sat on his bed, eating a snickers bar he had
just gotten from a vending machine. Chris gave him an angry look.
"What?" Joey asked, looking around to see what Chris was looking at.
"You couldn't have waited a few more minutes to walk in the room, could you?
We were having a conversation, man!"
"Hey! I can walk in whenever I want. She's MY best friend!" Joey remarked.
"Okay, Joey, that was a great comeback if you're FIVE YEARS OLD!"
"Well, I HAD to come back with something!"
Chris tried to calm down. "Joey... can we talk SERIOUSLY for a minute here?"
Joey nodded his head.
Chris began. "Joey, have you ever noticed that.... Wait, let me rephrase
that.... Have you ever thought that.... maybe Cameron had feelings for you?"
"Sure she does. She's my best friend. We're like family."
"Well, that worries me." Chris muttered under his breath.
"Joey, I mean did you ever think that she had feelings for you stronger than
just friendship?"
"Of course, Chris, we're BEST FRIENDS. That's definitely stronger than
friendship."
Chris began to get aggravated. "Joey, please! Just listen to me, alright?
Have you ever thought that...maybe...Cameron had a...crush on you?"
"No way, Chris. I'm sooo not her type."
"JOEY! Are you honestly oblivious to EVERYTHING or do you just do this to
annoy people?"
"WHAT?" Joey yelled.
"Cameron just told me that she has feelings for you. More than friendship.
More than best friendship. She has a little crush on you and she's a little
jealous about the whole Victoria thing."
"Nuh uh." Joey looked at Chris as if he were crazy.
"I don't think you should talk so much about Victoria in front of her and it
probably would be a good idea if they didn't share a room because if they
do, there might be a few cat fights...."
"Wait a minute!" Joey interrupted. "Are you trying to tell me that Cameron
has a THING for me?"
Chris laughed sarcastically. "Well, Joey, aren't you a regular Sherlock
Holmes?"
"I can't believe it.... who would have thought...."
"We've all noticed it, Joey. The rest of the guys and I... well, it's pretty
obvious."
Joey was confused. "Man, I have to go outside and get some air. This is a
lot to take in at once."

Part Three

Justin ran to the cab in front of him.
"Kitty!" He yelled excitedly and opened her door.
"Hey Sweetie." He smiled and gave her hug followed by a kiss on the cheek.
Kristen smiled. "Hi, Justin."
"I missed you so much! What took you so long?" Justin asked as he walked
Kristen up the stairs to their hallway. "How was your flight?" Before
Kristen could answer, Justin yelled down the hallway, "Hey guys! Get out
here! Kitty's here!"
JC and Lance ran out to greet her. Cameron walked out into the hallway to
see what all the yelling was about. She saw JC, Lance, and Justin with a
girl and walked over to them.
"Hi. You must be Kristen. Justin hasn't stopped talking about you since he
got here! I'm Cameron, Joey's friend."
Kristen shook her hand. "Nice to meet you. You can call me Kat. Everybody
does. So, you're Joey's 'friend', huh?" Kristen asked.
"Yeah... OH! You think that... NO! I'm just his friend. His best friend to
be exact. His girlfriend will be here tomorrow... I think"
"Oh... sorry about that." Kristen smiled apologetically.
"No problem." Cameron smiled back.
Lance ran to get Joey and Chris.
"Hey Kit Kat!" Chris yelled as he ran down the hallway to the group. He gave
her a big bear hug. "Well, we've got two down, just two to go." He joked.
"Where's Joey?" Kristen asked, turning to Cameron.
Chris answered quickly, "He's in the room getting ready to go to dinner."
"Well, let's get you settled in. You'll be staying in this room with Megan."
He walked her to her room and the others went back to their rooms to finish
unpacking and getting ready.

They left for dinner an hour later. JC talked them all into eating at the
Hardrock Cafe.
Cameron went to sit down. "Oh. Here." JC pulled out a chair for her.
"Thank you." Cameron blushed.
Chris ran over to sit next to Cameron so Joey wouldn't have to.
Justin filled Kristen in on everything that had been going on in the last
couple of months, hardly letting her get a word in.
JC was trying a lot harder than usual to make conversation with Cameron.
Joey kept glancing from Cameron to Chris as if to ask Chris 'What do I do?'
Lance couldn't stop thinking about the girl he saw back at the hotel. 'She
was beautiful' he thought to himself.

Justin and Kristen headed for the Disney Marketplace to go
shopping and the others headed back to their hotel.

"Aw! Isn't that cute?" Kristen pointed to a Turk doll from the movie
'Tarzan'.
"Hey! I was in that movie... well, sort of." Justin joked.
They laughed.
"I missed you Justin... alot." Kristen smiled up at him.
"I missed you, too, Kitty."
"Justin.... I love you."
Justin cleared his throat and pretended not to hear her. "So, how does ice
cream sound?"
"Justin, did you hear me?"
"Hmm?" Justin looked at the top of her head, trying not to make eye contact.
"I said that I love you."
Justin hesitated. "Thank you." He tried to change the subject. "You know,
I'm really in the mood for a strawberry shake."
Kristen was speechless.
They only spoke to each other when Justin asked what kind of ice cream she
wanted.
The ride home was completely silent. Justin would occasionally glance over
at Kristen, but she just stared straight ahead.

Meanwhile... back at the hotel

Cameron had been swimming for about an hour and decided to dry off and head
back up to her room. She was the only person at the pool when she heard the
door swing open. She turned around to see who it was.
"Oh. Hi, Joey." She smiled.
"Hey Cameron." He replied, trying to sound ultra-suave. "You're done
swimming?"
"Yeah. I figured I'd better get out of the pool before I turned into a
prune." She joked.
"Hey, if we were on the beach, I'd rub suntan lotion on ya..."
Cameron noticed that Joey was acting extremely strange. She didn't know how
to reply so she just said, "Thanks." She continued, "Well, I'm gonna go up
to my room now..."
"Have I ever told you that you're really beautiful?"
Cameron was beginning to get angry. "No, you haven't Joe."
"Well... I should have...."
"Okay, you know what, Joey? STOP!" Cameron yelled.
"Stop what?"
"Come on, Joey. I've known you HOW LONG? I've seen you do this to other
girls a hundred times.... I think you're coming on to me, Joey Fatone, and I
really don't like it!"
"What? You don't like it?" Joey asked, confused.
"NO! First of all, you have a girlfriend. REMEMBER? Her name is Victoria...
you really like her! And another thing... your my best friend. I don't even
like you like that, Joey!"
Now Joey was so confused that his head ached. "Wait a minute... Chris told
me that you told him that you have feelings for me..."
She raised her voice. "Oh, he did? Well, I'm sorry, but Chris was wrong. And
I am really..." Realizing how loud she was being, she lowered her voice. "I
just can't believe this..."
With that she walked out of the pool room leaving Joey standing completely
bewildered.

Justin knew that Kristen was angry with him, so he walked over to her room
to try to sort things out. Before he had a chance to knock, the door opened.
Kristen walked out of her hotel room carrying her luggage.
"What are you doing?" Justin was puzzled.
"I'm going to go stay somewhere else."
"What? Why?" Justin asked, getting angry.
"Justin... I can't do this anymore!"
"DO WHAT?"
"Justin, I love you.... but I think that.... well, I think that you love
yourself entirely too much to ever love me."
"Kristen, I..."
She interrupted. "Just let me say this, Justin! It's like...... ever since
you joined 'N Sync you've been on this rocket ship headed for the planet EGO
and now you're living there!"
"What?" Justin asked, a confused expression on his face. "Kristen, I..."
"I think we should call it quits...." She paused. "Call me if you ever
decide to take a trip back down to earth!"
With that, Kristen walked down the hallway and disappeared.
Justin stood in the hallway motionless. He could barely understand what had
just happened. 'She left me' he thought.
Justin walked over to Cameron's room and knocked on the door. Cameron, still
angry, opened it.
"Cameron, do you think that ever since I joined the group I've been on a
rocket ship and I'm living on the planet ego?" Justin asked, still in shock.
"That's good... did you come up with that yourself?"
"Kristen did... She left."
"What?"
"She said she doesn't think that I could ever love her as much as myself..."
"Justin.... I'm sorry..."
Justin nodded his head and walked back to his hotel room.
Cameron was stunned. 'This is MY fault'!

~

Meanwhile, JC and Lance were in their room playing poker. Instead of playing
with real money they decided to play with Apple Jacks.
"I'll see your three apple jacks and raise you four." JC said, placing his
apple jacks into the pile.
Joey stormed into the room.
"You guys will not believe this!" He began.
"What?" JC asked, his mouth full of cereal.
"Well, Chris told me that Cameron had a thing for me..."
"Well DUH!" Lance interrupted. "You don't have to be genius to know that!"
"Wait!" Joey continued. "You see the thing is... I just went down to the
pool and she was in there... and I have no idea what I was thinking, but I
sort of.... came on to her, I guess... and she yelled at me and turned me
down!"
JC choked on his apple jacks. "She did?"
"MAN! What were you thinking?" Lance yelled. "No matter how she feels about
you, you shouldn't try to take advantage of her like that!"
"Thank you, Lance." Joey said, aggravated. "I wasn't thinking! I don't know
why I did it... but I did.... and now... I'm in such MAJOR trouble here."
"Ya got that right." Lance muttered under his breath.
