Part 8

The day was finally here. It was my 20th birthday. I still didn't know what Klaire had up her sleeve for my birthday, but I knew I wasn't looking forward to it. I hated surprises, and Klaire knew it, but that was not going to stop her at all.
"Good morning, sunshine," Klaire said as I walked into the kitchen.
"Yeah, yeah," I said still waking up.
"Happy birthday," she said.
"Thanks. Where are the guys?"
"Oh…they'll be back."
"What are they doing?" I asked, knowing that they were doing something for my birthday.
"Nothing, alright."
"Sure, Klaire, I bet."
I ate some breakfast while I waited to see what the guys would have for me when they got back to my apartment. It was about an hour before they showed up back at my place.
"So what do you guys have in store for me?" I asked looking at my watch
which read 9:30.
"It's a surprise, Rachael. I promise you'll like it," JC said walking over
to me.
JC came up to me and gave me a kiss gently on the lips. I kissed him back
and just sighed.
"You promise?" I asked.
"I promise," he said, "by the way, happy birthday, Rachael."
"Thank you."
"Yeah, happy birthday, Rach," Lance said.
"Ditto," Joey said.
"Thanks you guys."
"Well get dressed, nicely, we're going out," Klaire said.
"Alright, I suppose."
I didn't really feel like getting dressed up, but I knew they wouldn't let me get out of dressing up for the occasion of my birthday. I despised birthdays. I don't know why I don't like them so much. I guess that most of the birthdays in the past have turned out to be a disaster one way or another.
"Rachael, why is it that you don't like birthdays so much?" Justin asked.
"Too many let-down's I guess."
"Well, I assure you, this one won't be a let down," JC said.
"I hope not."
The half-hour passed really quickly. I still had no idea of where we were going, and they had no intention of telling me either. I decided I might as well go along with what they had in store for me and make the most of it.
"Okay, we have to put this blindfold on you before we go," JC said placing a blindfold over my eyes, "we don't want you to see where we are taking you."
"Do I get to ride with you, babe?" I asked.
"Yeah, of course. It's alright if I drive your jeep, isn't it?" JC asked.
"Yeah, that's fine. Just be careful."
"I will be."
It seemed like it took forever to get to where we were going. I wasn't completely sure how much time had passed, because I had fell asleep on our way. I woke up shortly before we got there.
"What time is it, JC?" I asked.
"A little after 5," he said.
"In the afternoon?" I asked, shocked at his answer to my previous question.
"Yeah. Sorry it took so long. We were going to take you last night, but we thought it work out fine going today."
"Where are we?" I asked.
"Pensacola, Florida."
"What?" I said in shock, "You're kidding, right?"
"Nope."
"Okay, whatever."
The jeep stopped shortly after JC had told me where we were at. I still didn't believe that we were actually in Florida. It was hard to, since I didn't see anything the whole way.
"We're here," JC said as he shut off the car.
JC walked over and opened my door, helping me out of the jeep. On my way out I tripped, luckily JC caught me in his arms.
"Thanks," I said.
"Anything for you."
We walked for what seemed like a few feet. Finally JC took off my blindfold. I could not believe what I saw before my eyes. Klaire knew how much I loved the beach, and always wanted to go have a moonlit walk along the beach. I never thought that she would think of doing this for my birthday.
"Oh my gosh, thank you so much," I said giving JC a really big hug.
"You're very much welcome."
"Are we going back tonight too?" I asked, since I knew how long it had took for us to get down here.
"No. We got two hotel rooms at the Holiday Inn here in town."
"Oh. Only two rooms? There are seven of us. So basically everyone but one person has to share a bed tonight?" I asked.
"Yeah. It saved us money. Quite a bit actually."
"It's alright. This is so amazing. Thank you."
"Hey, thank your best friend for the idea. It was all her," JC said putting his arms around me.
"Yeah, but you're the one who actually went through with doing it," I said, "I'm kind of bummed though. I don't have my swimsuit with me so that I can go swimming. You told me to dress up and I did."
"Don't worry, we got it for you. Klaire packed for you. I've got my suit with me too. We'll go swimming after we have our lunch that we brought
with."
"Alright," I said.
We headed over to where Klaire and the guys were. Klaire was just laying out a blanket for all of us to sit on. I walked over to Klaire.
"Thanks," I said.
"You are so welcome."
"Lance," some girl cried off from the distance.
"A fan?" I asked.
"No! That's Nikole," he said running over towards her and another girl that I didn't recognize.
"Amaya!" Chris belted out as he got up.
I figured that the two girls were Lance and Chris's girlfriends. I could have been wrong since I had never seen either of them before.
Chris and Lance soon came back over to our picnic spot. We all had already begun to eat.
"Rachael, Klaire, this is Amaya. My girlfriend that I've told you about,"
Chris said.
"Yeah, and this is my beautiful Nikole," Lance said putting his arm around Nikole.
They both were gorgeous. Amaya had long dark wavy hair that came down to her waist, with blue eyes. She was about 5'4" tall. Nikole was beautiful too. She was probably about 5'8" with blond hair that just went below her shoulders. She had beautiful ice-blue eyes. It wasn't hard to tell how those two girls got guys like them. They probably could have gotten any guy that they laid their eyes on.
"Nice to meet you two," I said.
"Ditto," Klaire said with her mouth full.
We all sat there and talked while we ate our lunch. It didn't really seem like lunch because it was already five o'clock.
After JC and me finished our meals we got our swimsuits on and went for a swim together. We went swimming for about two hours. The time just flew by so fast.

Part 9

"Okay, Rachael, you have to open my gift first," Klaire said, "I am your best friend."
"I suppose I will," I said with a smile on my face.
I opened it. Inside were a poem she had written especially for me, and a beautiful ring that had three knots on it.
"Thank you. I love it!" I exclaimed, "Who's next?"
"Mine," JC said handing me a small box.
I opened the box, inside was a beautiful necklace. It was a heart pendant that had diamonds outlining the heart. My mouth just dropped. It was so beautiful. No one had ever given me a present like this before. Not even my parents.
"You are so wonderful. I love it. Thank you," I said giving JC a hug. I placed the necklace around my neck and the ring that Klaire had given me on my finger. Chris had given me a goofy little toy, Lance gave me a small stuffed bear; and Joey gave me a candle that smelt like sunflowers. I loved all of the gifts that I got. This was the best birthday that I had ever had.
It was now getting close to sundown. I could have cried, because my dream was coming true. To have diner on the beach and watching the sun go down.
"JC, do you want to go on a walk with me?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'd love to," he said getting up off the blanket he was sitting on.
We started to walk along the shoreline. JC grabbed my hand.
"You know, this has been the best birthday that I have ever had. Thank you so much. You don't know how much this means to me."
"You are worth it. I'd do anything for you, Rachael."
I just looked at him and almost wanted to cry because I was so happy. I didn't though, I figured I had done enough crying since he had been around.
"Thank you," I said, because I didn't know what else to say.
"Let's sit here, so we can watch the sun go down," JC said helping me to sit down in the sand along the shoreline.
"It's so beautiful out tonight. This day has just been amazing. I will never forget this day. I don't think I could if I wanted to."
"I'm glad you enjoyed today. I told you that you would like the surprise we had for you."
"Yeah, I'm glad I didn't try and talk you into telling me what it was."
"I wouldn't have told you anyway. It wouldn't have been as great, if you would have known what we had planned."
"I suppose you're right."
"I am, trust me," he said smiling and pulling me closer to him. He had his arm around me. I placed my head upon his shoulder and just sat there taking in everything that had happened today to me.
The sun went down slowly. The sky was full of rainbow colors with purple right above the horizon. It was so beautiful.

Part 10

My birthday was the best birthday that I had ever had. No one had ever done anything this great for me. I felt like the luckiest person alive.
After the sun had set that night, we all headed to the Holiday Inn where we were staying. JC, Chris, and me all took a room and Klaire, Justin, Joey and Lance all took the other. I didn't see too much wrong with sleeping in the same bed as JC, so I went for it.
I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth so that I could go to bed. I was completely exhausted from the long day, and I was not looking forward to driving seven hours just to get home.
"Are you almost done in there," Chris said to me as he knocked on the door.
"Just a second," I said with my mouth full of spit.
"Okay," he said.
"There are you happy," I said opening the door, "I'm done."
"Thank you."
"So are you going to sleep with me or make Chris?" JC asked me.
"I'm going to," I said walking towards the far bed where JC was.
"Good. I really didn't want to have to share a bed with Chris. I get enough of that while we are traveling."
"I bet you're use to this," I said.
"What?"
"Hotel, being crammed two to a bed. That kind of stuff."
"Yeah, you learn not to think about it after a while."
"Oh. Well I'm tired. I'm going to go to bed."
"Alright."
"Thanks again for such a wonderful day," I said lying down in bed.
"No need to thank me. It's such a thing that needs to be done for a beautiful lady, such as yourself."
"Thanks," I said, then paused, "JC, are me and 'a couple'?"
"Why wouldn't we be?"
"I don't know. I guess I just wanted the assurance that we were."
"I see."
"I'm glad we are."
"Me too. This has been the best few days of my life. I'm so glad I'm spending this time off with you and Klaire. I just don't want it to end."
"Neither do I," I said as my face shrunk just thinking about the fact that in 8 days, he'd have to go back to touring.
"Well, maybe you could come with us to a few of the venues?"
"You know I'd love to, I'd give anything to be with you."
"I think Klaire is still going to be coming with us after we leave Memphis.
Do you know for sure?" he asked me.
"No, not for sure, I don't."
"Well, either way, I want you to come with us."
"As long as you want me to come with," I said, hoping that he really wanted me to come with.
"You know I want you to come."

Part 11

The drive home was a long and boring trip, but luckily, I got to spend those seven hours with JC. It was kind of ironic I was suppose to spend all of this time with Klaire, but instead I was spending every moment with JC. It didn't bother me at all, and I hoped that it didn't bother Klaire.
We went back to my apartment after we got back to Memphis. We popped in a movie since it was already eight o'clock at night. None of us wanted to leave Florida. It was so beautiful, and the night before was just so amazing. We decided to watch "Bed of Roses". I was a sucker for romance movies. I had never been in a relationship where a guy swept me off of my feet, except for now. JC was my knight in shining armor. It was like a fairy tale, where I was hoping for the happy ending.
I fell asleep about halfway through the movie. JC continued to hold me, even though I was fast asleep. It was perfect.

Part 12

The next few days went by so quickly, they were all a blur to me now. I couldn't believe that today was the day of their concert. I wanted to cry so badly.
"Are you ready to go yet?" Klaire asked me.
"Almost. I want to look really good," I said as I finished doing my hair. "You look great. Let's go."
"Thanks," I said smiling.
We went out to the parking lot and got into my jeep. It would take us about twenty minutes to get to the Pyramid. The Pyramid was where the guys were going to be performing that night. It was a huge arena that I had been to only a few times.
"Can you believe that we don't have to actually wait in this line?" I asked.
"Yeah, I can, because I've done this many times already. Don't forget I'm announcing them tonight. I do that for them. Maybe tonight I should announce myself as Justin's girlfriend instead of just 'Klaire'. Or maybe I should introduce everyone to JC's girlfriend, Rachael. They love to hear that!"
"Klaire, knock it off. They would hate me, not to mention that they'd hate you too," I said referring to the teenyboppers.
"I know they would, but they would really have no reason to hate me. Oh no I stole their man that they were going to marry. Right. Give me a break, most of the girls would never have a chance with any of the guys."
"I guess you're right. But then why did I have a chance with JC? I'm just a fan like all those other girls."
"Rachael, you're different. Trust me, you are not like those girls."
"If you say so. I still think that I am just like them. Before I moved to Tennessee, I had the posters plastered all over my walls. I buy the useless stuff that has 'N Sync written on it. I do all of that. How can you tell me I'm not like them?"
"You have something different inside of you. I know you so well. What is there about you that someone wouldn't love? I really don't know how a guy couldn't fall in love with you. You just don't know how to see it yourself."
Klaire was right. I just couldn't see anyone loving me. She was the one person who knew everything about me, including my thoughts. It was kind of freaky at times, but it was also really cool. I just never thought that I would be the girlfriend of a famous person. It was really hard to let that fact sink in.
Klaire and I bickered about stupid things for the rest of the trip. We fought like sisters, but we never let any fight tear us apart. It was hard to be mad at her, no matter what she did.
"Well, Klaire, let's let this stuff go. We're here. Let's go in and see our men."
"You got our passes, right?"
"Yeah, they're in my purse," I said as I reached into my purse and took the VIP passes out.
"Great! Let's go."
We got out of the car and headed up to the doors of the Pyramid. Klaire had put her VIP pass around her neck so she could make everyone else jealous. She definitely had an attitude about her, but I loved it. I decided to put mine around my neck as well.
Screams filled the air as we got closer to the entrance of the arena. I couldn't believe how many girls were already there. It was still three hours until the doors would open; yet there was probably about two hundred girls outside the doors.
Klaire and I headed up to the crowd. One of the bodyguards, although I wasn't sure who it was, came outside.
"Klaire Douglas?" he shouted looking around for Klaire.
"Lonnie," Klaire screamed waving her arms in the air.
About 15 girls turned around and looked at who was screaming at the bodyguard.
"Excuse me," he said making his way through the crowd.
"Hey!" Klaire said giving Lonnie a big hug.
"Let's go, so we can get you girls in there."
"Alright," Klaire said.
Lonnie took us up to the doors. He had to push through a bunch of girls just to get us to the doors. It was insane how many people were there.
"So is this your friend, Klaire?"
"Yeah, Lonnie, this is Rachael. JC's girlfriend," Klaire said with a smile on her face, which made me believe that Lonnie didn't know me and JC were seeing each other.
"JC's?" he asked with a surprised look on his face.
"Yep."
"Nice to meet you, Rachael," he said shaking my hand.
"Nice to meet you too."
It took us a few minutes to walk back to the dressing room area. Backstage at a concert was nothing like I thought it was going to be. There were only a few rooms back there that, from the outside, didn't seem too big.
Lonnie finally opened the last door on our right hand side. Inside all of the guys were sitting around talking and signing a few things.
"Klaire, Rachael, how's it going?" Joey asked.
"I'm good," I said.
"Me too," Klaire said.
"What about you guys? You guy look like you're real busy," I said with a slight hint of sarcasm in my voice.
"We usually relax before we go on. We will be dancing for an hour and a half when we go on," Justin said.
"I guess you can sit around then."
"Come here, baby," Justin said to Klaire reaching out his arms.
"I missed you," she said to him.
"Well I missed you too."
"Give me a break. You guys just saw each other yesterday," I said.
"Shut up. You mean to tell me, you didn't miss JC at all?" Klaire asked.
"I didn't say that. By the way, where is he?"
"He's doing something for radio. He should be done really soon though," Lance said.
"Oh," I said with a slight bit a disappointment.
"We got to go do our Meet and Greet when JC gets back. Then we'll finally change, pray, and play hackey," Lance said.
"So, basically I won't get to talk to him till after the show?" I asked.
"Well for a few minutes, maybe, but not for too long," Lance said.
"Oh," I said feeling really out of place without JC, and having Klaire with Justin.
"Well, I'm back," JC said walking into the room.
"JC," I said running up to him and giving him a hug.
"Hey, sweetie. Did you two just get here?" he asked.
"A little bit ago."
"I'm glad you are here," he said brushing his hand along my face.
"Me too," I said with a slight smile on my face.
"Are you going to come and sit in on the Meet and Greet?"
"Can I?"
"Yeah."
"Alright," I said surprised at the fact that I could go and sit in on the Meet and Greet.
I knew that sitting in with JC and the other guys, the fans that came through the line would probably think that I was 'with' one of the guys. I don't know if they would associate us as being 'a couple' or what. I didn't really care though, I was just glad I got to be with JC.
