PROLOGUE

"Josh?" Mandi asked fearfully as the door to her bedroom opened slightly,
then closed.
"Yeah, it's me." Josh answered as he sat down beside her on the bed.
"Josh. Are you drunk?" Mandi asked, sitting up in bed, preparing to jump up
and run.
"As a hound dog!" he exclaimed.
Mandi jumped up and stood against the closet door, being she couldn't get to
the bedroom door. She walked to the window.
"Get out. Josh. Please. Go away. Get out." she pleaded.
"Mandi.. What are you doing? Get over here." Josh said, standing up and
walking toward her.
"No! Josh, No!!" she pleaded, tears spilling over her cheeks.
"You won't jump. Don't you DARE jump!" Josh demanded as she opened the
window.
"I can't take anymore, Josh! Stop it! Don't touch me! I'm gonna jump!"
she said, stepping out the window.
"MANDI!!!" Josh screamed. "I'll do what I want, get back in here!"
"No!!!" Mandi screamed.
Josh leaned out the window and grabbed at her leg.
"JOSH!" she screamed
She cried in complete horror as she fell to the ground. "JOSH!!!!!!"

**10+Years+Later**

Mandi walked to the auditorium were the dance tryouts were being held.
'It is so weird how big stars would want to hold dance tryouts for a music
video and tour at a little collage in Mississippi!' she thought.
"Hey!" a voice cried out from behind her.
"Skyler?" she asked, turning around
"Yep, yep YEP!" she exclaimed, putting her arm around Mandi's neck in a
sisterly manner. "The one and only!"
"Umm.. yeah.. Hey, Sky.. who is here again?"
"I forgot! Umm.." she shrugged.
Mandi laughed and walking into the auditorium.
It seemed like someone had a much different idea, and was walking out.
"Hmmf!" Mandi said, the turned to see who she had ran into,
"Oh my God! Josh!" she exclaimed, putting her hands over her mouth in panic.

CHAPTER 1

"Josh? I haven't been called that in a long time!" Josh said.
"Josh.." Mandi said, backing up fearfully.
She felt herself hit someone. She turned to see Skyler.
"Sky.. It's Josh.." she whispered.
"You can call me JC. Do I know you?" Josh said.
"JC?" she asked, backing up farther, not noticing she was talking.
"JC? Josh? JC.." she tried to comprehend.
"Josh? Mandi, who is Jo... OH MY GOD!!" Skyler exclaimed.
"Sky.. It's Josh.." Mandi repeated.
"JC, what is your last name?"
"Chasez."
"Mandi! It's not Josh!" Skyler told her friend.
"Josh? You aren't Josh?" Mandi asked, looking up hopefully.
"I'm Josh, but I don't think I'm the one you are so scared of."
Mandi relaxed and stepped forward. "I'm so sorry.. but you look so much like him." she explained. "I'm Mandi."
"I'm JC. Nice to meet ya!" JC said, shaking her hand.
"I'm Skyler. Do you know that guy over there?" she asked, pointing to a guy with light brown hair walking towards them.
"Yeah.. his name is Justin." JC said.
"How old is he?" she asked happily.
"Eighteen."
"EIGHTEEN??? Is he on freaking steroids? He's HUGE!" Skyler shrieked.
"You are so rude!" Mandi exclaimed.
JC laughed. "We pick on him about that all the time. But he isn't on them."
"Hey JC!" he exclaimed. He looked at Mandi and Skyler. "Hello.."
"Skyler and Mandi, this is Justin. Justin, this is Mandi and Skyler." Jc said.
"Hey," Mandi said.
"Hey!" Skyler smiled.
"Hey!" Justin said, just as enthusiastic.
"So.. are you two girls trying out for spots on the dance thingie?" JC said.
"Thingie?" Skyler giggled.
Mandi stifled her giggle. "Yeah."
"Well.. We wish you the best of luck, don't we Justin?"
"Yep!" Justin said, putting his arm around Skyler's shoulders.
"I can just see you two dancing your little hearts out on MTV.." he said smiling.
"Umm.. yeah." Skyler said.
"I need Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick to come backstage please." a voice said over the intercom.
"Bye bye!" JC and Justin said as they walked away.
**Thirty+Minutes+Later**
"OK.. Now, if your last name begins with A, B, C or D, then go with Joey. If you're last name begins with E, F, G, H, I or J, go with Lance.." the woman said. "K, L, M, N O and P go with Justin."
Skyler smiled and skipped off happily with a couple of other girls and guys and Justin.
"Q, R, S, T U and V go with Chris. And the rest go with JC."
Mandi smiled, walking up behind JC with a couple of other girls.
She looked at her group. Five guys including JC and five girls including herself.
'Hmmm..' she thought. 'If I play right, I might get to dance with JC!'
"All right, i'm gonna pair y'all up and teach ya the moves. OK, everyone tell your last name." Jc said.
"Wall." one girl said.
"White." a guy called out.
"You two together." JC said. He sighed in frusteration. "You two." he pointed at two people. "You two. You two and I guess that leaves me and you, huh?" he asked with a smile at Mandi.
"Guess so." she smiled back.

CHAPTER 2

"HOLD UP! HOLD UP!!!!" A girl came running into the room.
Everyone turned from their groups and looked at the girl who stood at the door way.
"Can I help you?" an assistant asked.
"I'm here for the tryouts," the girl replied out of breath.
"Okay what's your last same start with?" the assistant asked.
"C," the girl replied.
"Okay your with Joey," the assistant pointed at Joey, who was waving his hands for the girl to see.
"Okay thank you," the girl replied as she walked over to Joey.
"Hi!" Joey said with a huge smile, "I'm Joey"
"Hi!" she replied. "I'm Sheena, sorry I'm late I got stuck in traffic."
"It's cool," Joey replied as he shook her hand. "I guess your my partner, everyone else is already paired up"
"Okie dokie," Sheena replied as she ran over to put her bag down then ran back and jumped behind Joey which scared him to death.
*******
"I won't bite," JC said as Mandi kept moving away from him.
Mandi looked up at him, "I know."
"Then why do you keep moving away?" JC asked.
"I don't know, I hadn't noticed," Mandi lied.
"Well we can't dance together if you keep moving away." JC replied as he moved over behind her and grabbed her waist to do the dance. Mandi jumped by JC's touch.
"Are you okay?" JC asked.
"Yeah, you just scared me," Mandi replied.
"Okay on three," JC said as he counted off.
'Mandi, calm down he's not Josh, he won't hurt you,' she thought to herself.

About an hour later everyone that was trying out was in the waiting room to find out if they made the cut.
Mandi and Skyler were sitting on the floor, while Skyler talked and talked about how much her and Justin had hit it off. Sheena was pacing around the room, she couldn't sit still for two reason. One she was nervous to know if she made the cut, and second she had 4 cups of coffee before she got to the auditions.
"Excuse me?" Sheena said looking down and Mandi and Skyler.
"Yeah?" Sky asked.
"Can I sit down with you two?" Sheena asked.
"Sure!" Mandi replied as she scooted over.
"I'm Sheena," she said as she sat down.
"I'm Mandi and this is Sky my best friend." She replied.
"Everyone if I call your name come back into the room if I don't better luck next time," a girl said as she held a clip board in her hand.

CHAPTER 3

"Tina Jackson. Stephanie Irby. Brett Maine. Brad Maine," the girl said,
looking at each person as she called out the names.
Sheena felt like she was jumping up and down, and she couldn't tell if it was
from excitement or coffee.
'No, wait! I am jumping up and down!' she thought, using all her strength to
make herself sit still.

Skyler smiled up at Justin, not paying attention to the names being called.
He was standing behind the girl with the clipboard in her hand making faces
at her.
"Jamie East. Kayla Puckett. Sheena Caylee."
"AHH!!!" Sheena exclaimed, jumping up.
Skyler and Mandi laughed.
"Skyler Mathews."
Skyler jumped up excitedly, running to where Sheena was standing.
"And Mandi Wright." the girl concluded.
Mandi stood up with a slightly scared smile on her face as she walked over to
Sheena and Skyler.
*******
'He's JC. Good-looking, outgoing, sweet, funny JC. Not Josh!' Mandi told
herself as she walked towards Jc and a blonde guy who she thought was Lance.
"hey!" she said a little shakily.
"Hey girl! Did ya make it?" Jc asked. His face and voice seemed as if he
knew the answer.
"Yep!" she exclaimed.
"Congratulations!" JC and Lance said together.
She laughed. "Don't be too happy. You'll get sick of me!"
"Impossible." JC smiled.
"Trust me, it's NOT impossible," Skyler said, walking up with Justin close
(very close) behind her.
"Oh. Gee. Thanks." Mandi said sarcastically.
"You are SO welcome!" Skyler said.
Mandi rolled her eyes.
"Hey, look at Joey!" Justin exclaimed, pointing to where Joey was standing.
"Huh?" JC asked, turning around.
Mandi turned too.
"I don't see Joey!" JC said, turning around again.
"Me neither!" Mandi said, turning too.
'My, this is an awkward position..' Mandi thought to herself.
They had turned around at the same time and their faces were just inches
apart.
"Um.." she said.
"Hey.." JC said with what sounded like a nervous laugh.
"Yeah.." she said, looking into his eyes for the first time.
'Big Mistake!' she screamed at herself.
"Uh-huh.." he said, his eyes closing slightly as he leaned a little closer.
She closed her eyes a little.
"Where are Joey and that girl GOING?" someone screamed.
Mandi and JC jumped back just as their lips touched.
"Sheena?" Skyler's voice said.
"I guess so." The voice had returned to normal and now Mandi realized it was
Justin.
"Hey you two, what's the matter?" Skyler asked, looking up at them.
Mandi whirled her head around to face her.
Her gaze landed on a very smug looking Chris.
"I saw that," he whispered.

Chapter 4

Mandi turned away from Chris acting like she didn't see him.
"Hello earth to Mandi?" Skyler asked waving her hands in front of Mandi.
"Yeah?" Mandi asked.
"Why do you and JC have that look on your faces", Skyler asked again.
"I don't know", JC replied immediately. "What kind of look!?"
"Yeah what kind of look?!" Mandi added semi-blushing.
"Nevermind," Skyler said turning to Justin who was calling her over, "Be right back."

Mandi didn't know why she just did what she did. She wasn't in the mood to explain it to JC so she started to walk off.
"Mandi wait!" JC said as he grabbed her by the arm.
Mandi flinched at his touch and turned to him. JC could tell that there was fear in her eyes.
"What's wrong?" JC asked in a concerned voice.
"Nothing, I....I gotta go," Mandi said pulling away and running out of the place.
JC just stood there confused by what just happened.
"Why did she run off?" Chris asked coming up from behind JC.
"I have no idea," JC replied.

"What is it Justin?" Skyler asked as she approached him.
"Well.. I was kinda wondering?" Justin started. He looked up at Skyler, she was smiling so beautifully, to him.
"Yeah?" Skyler asked.
"Well, " Justin started again, he looked her in the eyes and started to get lost.
'Okay Justin you can do this,' he told himself.
"I was wondering if you would like to go out with me tonight?" Justin said getting it out as fast as he could.
Skyler stood silent for a minute trying to say yes but every time she opened her mouth no sound came out.
"I understand if you don't want to," Justin said looking down at the ground.
"No, I mean I'd love to go out with you," Skyler said with a huge smile.
"Really!?" Justin asked gaining his confidence again.
"Yep!" Skyler replied getting closer to him.
"Cool! well how does 7:00 sound?" Justin asked.
"Great see you then." Skyler replied.
"Okay see ya," Justin said starting to walk off.
"Don't you need my address?" Skyler yelled.
"Oh yeah," Justin replied walking back over to her.
Skyler got a paper and pen that was on the table and scribbled her address on it.
"Here ya go," She said handing the paper to her.
"Okay thanks," Justin replied walking off.

Skyler walked over to where JC and Chris were.
"Where's Mandi?" Skyler asked.
"She ran off suddenly," JC replied.
"What?" Skyler asked. "What did you do to her?"
"Nothing I swear!" JC said. "She started to walk off and I called her back then she freaked out on me."
"I gotta go find her," Skyler said running off.

Chapter 5

Mandi sat in her car.
'What the..'
"Mandi!" Skyler said.
Mandi looked over, seeing her walking towards the car.
"Hey!" she said, smiling happily.
'I shoulda been an actress!' Mandi thought.
"What did he do?" Skyler asked, jumping in the passenger seat.
"Nothing!" Mandi insisted.
"Yeah.. Sure.."
*******
Both of the car doors were open and the radio was turned on loud, so JC found his way to Mandi very easily.
He sighed when he saw Skyler already talking to her.
He studied the way Mandi was laying down.
Her head was leaned back over the top of the driver's seat and her body was turned to an awkward looking angle so she could prop her feet on the handle to the door.
He smiled.
Then he remembered their almost kiss.
'What was I thinking?' he wondered. 'I've got to be out of my freaking mind! She must have ran because of that.'
He sighed again.
"What's the matter?" Joey asked, walking up behind him.
"Huh? Oh, nothing." JC said, turning around.
He noticed the girl standing with Joey, and waited for him to introduce her.
The girl laughed when he didn't.
"Hi! I'm Sheena!"
JC smiled. "I'm JC. As you can see, Joey has no manners."
"Huh?" Joey asked.
"Or brains, for that matter!" Chris said, walking up behind them.
JC and Sheena turned around to face him.
He was with three girls and two guys.
"These are our dancers!" Chris exclaimed happily.
JC stared at the guys.
'Whoa, twins!' he thought. 'Do I know them?'
"This is Brett, Brad, Tina, Stephanie and Kayla." he said. He smiled as if he knew that he knew everything. "There is another girl named Jamie East, but I can't find her."
"Jamie East?" Mandi asked, walking up with Skyler. "I know her! She's short, got long blonde hair and freckles."
"Where is Justin?" Skyler asked.
Everyone laughed at her.
'I love the way she looks when she laughs," JC thought. He couldn't help looking her up and down.
Then Justin, Lance and yet another girl walked up.

"Jamie!" Mandi exclaimed.
"Mandi?" the girl said. "Oh my GOD!!"
The two girls hugged and Mandi pulled away.
"Wow! you aren't short no more!"
Jamie laughed. "You aren't tall no more!"
Mandi laughed.
She looked over at Justin, who was standing in front of the twins.
"WHOA!" she couldn't help but yell in surprise.
Everyone looked up at them.
Justin, Brett and Brad matched each other from their height and build to their curly hair and baby blue eyes.
"That is so weird!" Jamie said.
The three guys just stared at each other.
"Justin?" Joey said, waving his hands in front of Justin's face.
He didn't move.
"Justin? Justin! JUSTIN!!" Skyler said, hitting him in the back of the head.
He still didn't move.
"Watch the pro!" Mandi said, walking up to them. "Hey, Justin! Skyler is doing a lap dance for Joey inside your car!"
Justin jumped practically ten feet in the air.
Everyone laughed but him.
"Who said that?" he demanded.
"Who said what?" Mandi asked, smiling.
*******
"OK," the girl with the clipboard said. "My name is Carmin, and you may have noticed you are gonna be seeing a lot of me. Now, I'm going to tell you who you are gonna dance with on the tour. OK?"
"Yep!"
"All right. Skyler Mathews?"
Skyler raised her hand a little.
"You will be with Justin. Kayla Puckett. You'll be with Lance. Tina Jackson with Chris. Sheena Caylee with Joey. Mandi, you are with JC."
'Of coarse!' Mandi thought.
Stephanie with Brett and Jamie with Brad. OK, now. You last four won't be dancing in the video. You can be in it, but not dancing. Sorry."
They nodded.
"OK, this is who will be with who in the video." she took a deep breath and continued. "Kayla with JC. Mandi with Joey. Sheena with Justin. Skyler with Chris and Tina with Lance. OK? Good. Now, on monday, you'll begin learning the choreography. When you leave today, make sure Lou gives you your schedule. Bye and have a great weekend!" she said.
Mandi took a deep breath as she walked out of Carimin's office in Trans Continental Records. 'This is gonna be a long winter!' she thought.

Chapter 6

Skyler rushed home to get ready for her date with Justin.
"MY GOD!" Skyler thought to herself, "I don't have anything to wear!"
She looked through the closet some more as she tossed things around deciding what to wear. Suddenly the phone rang.
"Hello?" Skyler answered.
"Hey girl! it's me Justin," he replied.
"Hey," Skyler replied.
"I was just calling to make sure we're still on for tonight?" Justin asked.
"Of course!" she replied.
"Okay then, be there at 7," he replied.
"OK," Skyler replied.
"Oh one more thing," Justin said.
"What?" Skyler asked.
"Do you have Mandi's number, JC keeps bugging me about it," Justin asked.
"Yeah hold on," Skyler replied as she when to go get Mandi's new phone number.
"OK, it's 582-1221, got it?" Skyler asked.
"Yep, so I'll see you at 7," Justin said.
"Okay bye," Skyler replied.
"Bye," Justin replied as he hanged up.
Skyler looked at the clock. "5:30! already, I gotta hurry up."

"Well where here!" Joey said to Sheena as they walked into his home.
Sheena looked around the place, "Pretty nice, a lot of superman stuff"
"Yeah, cool huh?" Joey replied all proud of his superman collection.
Sheena just smiled.
"Well let me show you the rest of the place." Joey said as he grabbed her hand to lead the way.
"Okay, led me to the master bedroom," Sheena joked.
"Your wish is my command," Joey said with a sly smile.

Mandi left the studio as soon as soon as everything was set for tomorrow's video shoot. She made a few stops then headed home to get some much needed rest.
Mandi unlocked her apartment door set down her keys and fell onto the couch.
"Home sweet home," Mandi said aloud as she breathed in the air.
Minutes later the phone started ringing.

Chapter 7

"Hello?" Mandi asked, sighing loudly.
'I'm too tired to talk on the phone right now. Call back next year.'
"Mandi?" JC's voice sounded through the phone.
"JC?!?" She choked on the tea she was drinking.
He stiffed a giggle. "Are you ok?"
"Yeah, you scared me."
"Sorry. But, anyway, I was wondering what you are doing tonight." he said.
'Oh no, do NOT ask me out on a date.'
"Umm. nothing I guess. Why?" she asked.
"Well, me, Chris and Tina are going out and we wanted to know if you wanted to come." he explained.
Mandi sighed her relief. "Sure.. when are you going?"
"Well, we are gonna be out late. We aren't leaving until nine."
"Sure, sounds great." Mandi nodded.
"Do you want me or Chris to come pick you up, or do you wanna meet us there? We are taking two cars."
"Umm.." Mandi thought.
'In the car alone with him?' she wondered to herself. 'That sounds great. NO! Stupid.' She argued with herself. 'What is wrong with me?'
"One of you can come over here if you can find my apartment." she decided.
"Where is it?" he asked.
"Ocean Springs. Right beside the Isle of Capri." she told him.
"I know where that is. Do you mind if I pick you up, or would you rather Chris and Tina?" he asked.
'Why would I care if he picked me up?'
"I don't care.. Why would I?" she asked.
"Well.." he started. He seemed a little uncomfortable. "Umm."
"OH! That.." she said, suddenly remembering. "Well, I don't care. You can come if you want."
"OK." he said.
There was an awkward silence.
"Well, I need to go. I'll see you tonight. Bye." Mandi said.
"Bye." JC said, hanging up.
