CHAPTER 10

To Haley's surprise she was all packed and ready to go by Friday. Everything she needed for the 6 months of traveling was stuffed into two very large bags. She figured there would be a washer and dryer so she didn't pack too many outfits. She practically packed her whole CD collection in one bag along with books, hair, make-up and her writing.
After talking on the phone for hours with her parents she convinced them to let her go. They really wanted her to go to college so they had compromised. Haley would enroll in Florida State. Since the other girls were getting their work via e-mail Haley would do the same. Her parents were skeptical with the idea but they could tell Haley really wanted to go. She had been talking about traveling ever since she was little.
After a lot of begging on hands and knees Lou had allowed the girls to stay on the same bus as the guys. They had convinced him that the fans wouldn't mind the guys having girlfriends. The true 'N Sync fans would still like their music. Lou had talked to them about rumors but after Haley had given him her deadly puppy dog face he gave in.

When the tour finally started Haley really saw how hectic it was being involved with 'N Sync. She loved it! She followed the guys to their Meet and Greets, interviews, and photo shoots. Her favorite part of the day was sound check. She had struck up a good relationship with the band's drummer and sound manager. They let her and the other girls fool around with instruments, and when they guys had finished with the mics they used those too. Haley loved the behind the scene work that helped make 'N Sync.
Even though their lives were busy Haley and JC still spent time together. They were always together and would go out of their way to see each other. Sometimes when everyone else went out JC and Haley would stay on the bus, together. They would stay in each other's arms for hours whispering loving words into each other's ears. Haley loved those special times, just her and JC. He was always surprising her with little gifts or surprise visits. His expressed love made Haley feel so special.
The time they spent was great but Haley loved seeing JC work his magic. On stage he seemed so happy entertaining the crowd. They were as hyper as he was by the end of the show. They seemed to love him as much as Haley did.
Haley was so flexible making it easier for JC to spend time with her. He was never bored around her even when they would just lie together in bed. He loved her so much and he thanked God everyday that he had her.

*2 months into the tour*

"I gotta go babe." JC whispered as he got off the couch. He pulled Haley up after him and kissed her tenderly on her forehead. "I'll see ya at the show right?" Haley shook her head as she watched him walk off the bus.
"Bye Hal." Lance said as he walked past her patting her head.
"See ya later babe." Justin gave her a hug before twirling her around. She laughed as Chris and Joey walked by still arguing about their recent Play Station game.
"Bye guys!" She called as they walked into the venue. She quickly walked into the back to get Kelly, Lauren, Rachel, and Sarah. They were all watching TRL as Haley opened the door. "Ready babes?" Haley asked as she motioned out the door.
"What are we doing again?" Kelly asked as they filed out the door.
"Lonnie said we could fool around with the instrument and crap while the guys are at the Meet and Greet." They all rushed to the stage practically running into large bodyguard.
"Hey Lonnie." Haley said as she stopped herself from a collision. "So, we can use the goods today right?"
"Sure, anything for JC's girl." Haley smiled and gave him a hug. Kelly walked over to the sound system and hooked up the near by stereo. She popped in a tape and ran backstage.
"We can use the costumes right?" Sarah asked sticking her head out. Lonnie shook his head and she quickly disappeared backstage. Minutes later the girls walked out dressed in the guys 70's outfits. The clothes were to big making the girls look hysterical.
"Where's my camera." Lonnie joked between fits of laughter; they all smiled at him as they put on their mics. Kelly pressed PLAY on the stereo and music came on the speakers. The girls started to sing to "I Want You Back" by the Jackson 5

It was during the question and answer part of the Meet and Greet that the loud music started. A girl was in the middle of her question when everything went haywire. The five guys shot each other concerned glances but put on fake smiles.
"W-What was that noise?" the fan asked quickly changing her question. JC slowly raised the mic to his mouth, thinking of an answer. He couldn't come up with one.
"I don't know." JC answered honestly.
"Probably the band practicing." Joey lied. No one realized that the band had sound check the same time as them so their little fib was successful. The girl sat down and the next question was asked. Everyone forgot about the background music. Everyone except for the five guys up front.

As soon as the Meet and Greet was over the guys signed a few autographs and left. They had been dying to find out what the noise was. JC was the first one through the door of the venue. He stopped dead in his tracks as he looked at the stage causing the other guys to run into him.
"Wow." JC whispered in awe as the girls performed for Lonnie onstage. They were still in the guy's costumes but this time it was the 80's.
"YEAH HOO! CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES COME ON!" The girls bounced around the stage singing to the tape. Their mics had been turned up higher than tapes' vocals letting their voices be heard. The guys were surprised at how great they sounded together.
When the song ended the girls ran backstage to change into the guys basketball jerseys. "Think the pants are a little big huh?" Rachel joked as she walked out in Justin's pants.
"Yeah well JC's definitely got some muscles…look how big this shirt is!" Haley exclaimed as she fitted her arms inside the shirt. The guys laughed at their funny appearance, but as the music came on they became quiet.
"FIRST I WAS AFRIAD, I WAS PETRIFIED. KEPT THINKING I COULD NEVER LIVE WITHOUT YOU BY MY SIDE." Haley sand the opening verse to Gloria Gaynor's "I WILL SURVIVE". Chris elbowed JC but he was to busy watching Haley onstage. All the girls could perform, but Haley put her heart and soul into her singing. She became the character who was singing, feeling their pain or happiness. JC had noticed that when she sang in the car and now it was more visible.
Two strong hands resting on his shoulder brought him out of his daze. "She's good huh?" Lonnie said.
JC turned around to look at his big friend and smiled. "She's the best." He whispered as he turned to face the girls again.
After a couple more songs together the girls each did a song by themselves. Haley went last because she needed to find a good costume. Britney Spears had left some of her old stage outfits with the stage coordinator. Haley loved looking through them and picking out funny outfits.
When it was Haley's turn she walked out in leather pants, a blue tank top, and a leather jacket. The girls burst out laughing. Haley wasn't normally the one to dress-up like that skanky. She was the sporty kind of person. They were surprised to see her in those tight pants.
"Look at that butt!" Joey said as Haley turned around.
"Hey! Joey keep your eyes on Lauren. I'm the only one who gets to look at Haley's butt." JC said smacking Joey's head. He immediately turned around not wanting to miss a sec of her performance.
"Ooh a country song!" Lance said as the music started.
"STANDING ON THE BORDER. LOOKIN' OUT INTO THE GREAT UNKNOWN. I CAN FEEL MY HEART BEATIN' FASTER AS I STEP OUT ON MY OWN." Haley's song was "One Way Ticket" by LeAnn Rimes. She looked so cute singing, putting her heart and soul into the song. JC was so proud of her and the guys noticed him straighten up in his seat.
"I HAVE WALKED THROUGH THE FIRE. AND CRAWLED ON MY KNEES THROUGH THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW OF DOUBT. AND NOW I CAN SEE MY WAY OUT." Haley didn't notice her little audience laugh as she scooted across the on her knees. The bright lights didn't permit the girls to see the audience. They had no clue that people besides Lonnie and the stage crew were watching them.
"I'M GONNA BUY A ONE WAY TICKET ON A WEST BOUND TRAIN. GONNA SAIL THE OCEAN, GONNA SPREAD MY WINGS, GONNA CLIMB THAT MOUTAIN, GONNA DO EVERYTHING…..YEAH!" Haley held the note as long as LeAnn did. The guys were shocked she had such a large lung capacity. When the music stopped the girls gave their microphones back to Lonnie and were about to leave when they heard a loud applause.
"Kill the lights!" Haley directed as she raised her hand to shadow some of the light. When they lights shut off the girls gasped. They were so surprised to see the guys there. Haley blushed bright red and covered her stomach with her hands embarrassed by her outfit.
"You were great!" Justin exclaimed as he gave Rachel a big hug and kiss.
"Yeah and um..nice pants Hal." Chris joked as he wrapped his arms around Kelly's waist, kissing her head. Haley blushed and buried her head in JC's chest as he pulled her closer.
"You were great babe." JC whispered in her ear. He pulled her chin up with his finger so they were face to face. She smiled as he slowly bent his head to hers. The kiss got more passionate as it continued.
"Ok you too…break it up!" Lonnie said as he walked on the stage. "Haley you did great today. I didn't know you had quite a set of lungs on you."
"I did." JC stated to quickly.
"JC!" Haley yelled turning red with embarrassment.
"I..I.." JC stammered equaling her shade. The girls giggled while Justin, Chris, and Lance stifled a laugh.
"I didn't know you two argued that much." Joey said. At that everyone burst into laughter. "What did I say?"
"Joey, they weren't saying that Haley argued a lot but that she.."
"Chris!" JC screamed cutting him off.
"Ok, I learned my lesson." Chris replied.
"Can we go now." Haley mumbled her head still buried in JC's chest.
"Sure babe." JC said after a laugh. He led her out off the stage and out the door.
"HOW CUTE!" Everyone yelled at they excited the door.

CHAPTER 11
*Paris, France*

Haley woke up to a 'bark' but figured it was just one of Joey's and Chris's many PLAY STATION games or even the boys themselves. She turned onto her side surprised to feel something silky slip across her face. She opened her eyes to red and white everywhere.
"What the fuck?" Haley yelled sitting up quickly forgetting the low ceiling. "Ouch!" Rubbing her head she looked around her bunk. Red and white rose pedals were spread everywhere over the quilt. Some were tapped on the walls. At the bottom of the bunk Haley saw a bouquet of flowers and a small package. She reached for the flowers, bringing them to her face so she could smell them. She noticed a card and opened it smiling as she read the inside.
Hey Babe,
Happy Valentine's Day! Hope you like your present. He will be a little bit of a handful but we'll manage…always have. You always said you wanted one and this one is as cute a button. I hope he didn't wake you up. We all know how much you love sleep! Do the flowers smell good? Thank Joey for helping me pick out the best flowers in the shop..he forgot roses had thorns. If I'm not home yet we're still practicing. I'll be back shortly, promise. This isn't the end to my Valentine's Day present so don't go anywhere!

By the time Haley had finished the card tears were forming in her eyes. "Ruff." The strange noise from the package stopped Haley from reading the card a third time. She slowly lifted the top of the package not sure what to expect. She gasped when inside was a little golden retriever puppy.
"You are too cute!" Haley said as she picked him up. He licked her face and cuddled up close to her; glad someone had taken him out of that box. As Haley started to baby talk to puppy to sleep Justin poked his head in her bunk.
"JC sent me to make sure you got his present." Justin said patting the puppy's head. "But I see you did."
"Where is he Justin?" Haley asked as she placed the puppy on the bed.
"He's still practicing but we are almost done." Haley quickly got out of bed and slipped on her sandals.
"Thanks Justin." Haley called as she ran out the door. Justin smiled as he picked up the puppy. After setting him back down on the bed he turned to Rachel's bunk. . The door of the bus opened and Haley ran back on. She laughed when she saw Justin's feet sticking out of Rachel's bunk.
"Happy Valentine's Day Rachel." Haley shouted as she grabbed the puppy. She heard Rachel giggle as Justin whispered something to her. Haley shook her head and ran out the door.
On her way to find JC, Haley named the puppy Louie. She ran past Lonnie and kissed him on the cheek, she was so happy. When she reached the stage she hesitated before walking on. She watched JC from the side noticing every move of his body. When the music stopped she quietly walked out onto the stage.
"Hey there Hal." Lance said noticing her first. JC quickly turned around as Haley walked closer to him. He smiled when he saw the puppy in her arms.
"His name's Louie." Haley said as she handed him to JC. Louie licked JC's face and nudged his head against his chest.
"Let me hold him." Chris whined as JC handed Louie over.
"I love him!" Haley said as she watched Chris play with Louie. JC opened his arms and Haley stepped into them, fitting perfectly. As JC held her Haley felt the tears coming into her eyes. "JC, this had been the best Valentine's Day ever." Haley whispered. JC noticed Haley's wavy voice and he pulled her closer. "No one has ever loved me this much." Haley lifted her head so that she could look at JC. The tears slipped down her cheek as she stared into his eyes. JC kissed Haley's cheek tasting her tears. He smiled, their faces only inches apart. Haley closed her eyes as JC kissed her lips. She never wanted to let go of him. When they finally separated Haley buried her head into JC's chest.
"I love you so much babe. This is the perfect day to express my love and I'm not finished yet." JC whispered as he leaned his chin on her head. As Justin walked on the stage he smiled at JC and Haley. He walked over to the other guys and whispered something to them. They all nodded and started to snap their fingers.
"1..2..3.. I WILL TAKE YOU IN MY ARMS. AND HOLD YOU RIGHT WHERE YOU BELONG. TO THE DAY I MY LIFE IS THROUGH, THIS I PROMISE YOU." Justin sang the chorus to "This I Promise You" Haley started to laugh as Joey and Chris danced around her and JC.
"Thanks guys." Haley said as she wiped away a tear.
"No problem Hal. You know we love you almost as much as JC here." Chris said as he handed her Louie.
"I love you guys too." Haley smiled at Louie and started to walk off the stage. "See ya later guys."
"Bye babe." JC yelled as she walked away. She turned around and blew him a kiss, laughing when he caught it and placed it on his forehead.
