CHAPTER 18

As JC rushed into the house he was practically skipping he was so happy. Haley was back in his life and lovelier than ever. He had a son who thought he was the greatest guy in the world. He opened the door and basically ran into Chris.
"Hey where you been man?" Chris asked stopping him from speeding up the stairs.
"At Haley's house." JC said as he tried to pass.
"You kidding man?"
"Nope." JC managed to squeeze by Chris. Chris walked down the stairs and he must have had an astonished looked on his face because Lance looked at him funny.
"What's wrong Chris?" Lance asked as he peeled a banana.
"JC got lucky last night, with Haley." Chris said his shocked face turning to a grin. Lance started hysterically laughing as he saw JC standing at the top of the stairs.
"Sorry JC." Chris shouted as he walked into the next room. JC shrugged his shoulders and walked past Justin's room to his.
"Did you talk to her!" Rachel yelled opening Justin's door. JC shook his head and smiled telling Rachel with his smile what had happened last night. "Great!" She threw her arms around his neck and pulled him into a hug. As they separated JC noticed the flash on finger.
"Wow! That's a rock!" JC exclaimed as he held Rachel's hand starring at her ring. Justin walked out of the bathroom and smiled at Rachel. He took her in his arms and kissed her cheek as they walked into his room.
They're so happy together. Haley and me are happy but it's different that Justin and Rach. What's so different?
JC looked down when his grandfather's ring caught his eye. He shook his head and smiled as he slipped it off his finger and into his pocket. He grabbed his bathing suit and hurried out the door.

When JC walked into Haley's house he laughed at Parker sitting on the couch. He was in his bathing suit with sunglasses and a sailor hat on his head. A book was open on his lap and he seemed to be reading it.
"Watcha reading?" JC asked as he walked over to the couch. Parker looked up and smiled his cute little smile at JC.
"The Cat." Parker said holding up the book "The Cat in the Hat" By Dr. Suess. JC laughed as he started to 'read' it again. It was upside down but JC didn't want to bother him.
"Where is your mom?" JC asked as he looked into the kitchen for Haley.
"Upstairs." Parker said he concentration still on the book. "She's changing." JC only walked up the stairs faster. He opened the door silently and slipped into the room. Haley was standing in the corner looking at her self in the mirror. JC sneaked up behind her and grabbed her hips.
"You look great." JC said as he kissed Haley's neck. She scoffed contemptuously and turned to face him.
"You try having a baby and then you can say that I look great." Haley said before kissing JC again.
"No you look fine, I promise." JC said as he picked her up by the waist. He threw her on the bed and followed quickly after her. Haley lay on the bed stunned that JC had thrown her. When he lay on top of her and started to kiss her neck she came back into reality.
"Sorry JC. We can't do this with little Parker downstairs." Haley said as she tried to push JC off her.
"It will be quick I promise." JC mumbled his breath tickling Haley's ear. He kissed her lips before she could say anything more. His hands slipped in-between the straps of her bathing suit and were about to slip it off her shoulders when Haley pulled away.
"JC I want you too but well we can't do it twenty-four seven anymore I sorry." JC sighed and walked up behind Haley.
"I know babe. I'm sorry." He kissed her again and took her hand leading her downstairs.
"Ready!" Haley shouted as Parker ran into her arms.
"Yup!"
"Great." JC took Haley's hand and lead her outside, Parker resting in her arms. They walked into the rain and it was surprisingly warm. They hoped in the car and sped off towards the beach.

As soon as the car stopped Parker ran for the water. He turned around when he reached the shore and smiled at JC and Haley.
"He is wonderful Hal." JC said as he grabbed her hand. Haley smiled and looked from JC to Parker. They were alike in more than one way and it was scary. "I never want to leave him again."
"I don't want you too either." Haley said as she kissed JC's cheek.
"Hal. We need to talk about us. I love you and I love Parker. I'm never gonna leave so we need to talk." JC stopped walking and grabbed Haley's other hand. They stood there standing facing each other. JC was about to say something when Parker's giggles echoed throughout the beach. Haley and JC turned to watch him and both started laughing. He was playing a game with the waves. He would run away as they crashed on the sand so that his feet wouldn't get wet. JC turned back quickly facing Haley. She was still watching Parker, a smile on her face. He turned her head to face his with his finger. She smiled wider as she stared into his eyes. Standing on her toes she kissed him gently on the lips. JC melted at her touch.
"Haley you need to have someone in your life. Someone you can count on." JC reached into his pocket and pulled out his grandfather's ring. Haley had always loved that ring so when he placed it on her finger he wasn't surprised at her gasp. "Hal will you marry me?" Haley didn't say anything. She couldn't. She was so happy but nothing would come out.
JC started to panic and he grasped her hand tighter. "Parker needs a father. I want to teach Parker how to play basketball and sing. He is perfect, everything you could want in son. And you Hal, you need a husband. Someone to hold you at night. I want to be able to kiss you whenever I want to. Hal I love you please…" JC was silenced by Haley's kiss. It told him everything he wanted to hear. As he pulled away he smiled widely.
"I Love you too JC." Haley whispered as she kissed his neck.
"Don't start with me girl." JC grumbled as the pleasure from Haley's kisses got to him. She laughed and rested her head on his chest. Everything was perfect as JC arms wrapped around her. They stood there in the rain holding each other until they felt Parker's arms around their legs. They looked down at him and laughed as he rested his head against JC's leg. Haley bent down and picked him up.
"You want a hug too?" She asked. He shook his head and hugged Haley. JC's arms were soon to follow as he pulled Parker and Haley close to his body.
They got in the car and started for home when JC looked at Haley's hand. The ring looked complete on her slim finger. He grabbed her hand and squeezed it reassuringly.
"I want to see the guys." Haley said turning to JC. JC smiled and quickly took a left turn. Haley didn't care that she was wet or that Parker didn't have a change of clothes. She wanted to see her friends desperately.
Pulling up into the driveway of Justin's house Parker looked out suspiciously.
"Where are we mommy?" Parker asked as he pressed his face against the window.
"At Rachel's house." Haley asked. Parker had met Sarah, Kelly, and Lauren before but for some reason remembered only Rachel. It was probably because she had screamed when she had first seen him. They walked up to the house and Haley was about to knock on the door when JC pulled out his key.
"I live her ya know." He said as he opened the door. As they walked in the house Joey almost fell as he walked down the stairs.
"HAL!" He yelled. He came running towards Haley and smushed Parker who was in Haley's arm in his bear hug. Haley couldn't help but laugh as everyone pilled into the room. She saw Kelly, Rachel, Lauren, and Sarah and smiled widely. Then the rock on Rachel's finger caught her attention.
"Rachel Dugan you didn't!" Haley shouted as she placed Parker on the ground. Rachel smiled proudly as she held up her hand. They girls started giggling and all gave each other a big group hug. Parker ran to JC and grabbed his leg a little scared at all the commotion. JC laughed and picked up Parker.
"It's ok buddy. You'll get used to it." JC patted his head as Parker rested his head on his shoulder.
"And Haley what's this?" Sarah asked as she held up Haley's hand. She recognized JC's ring on her finger and started jumping up and down. The girls started to squealing again and hugging each other. Everyone gave each other hugs and 'oohed' and 'ahhed' over Parker. He was almost fast asleep on JC's shoulder when the 'Hellos' were over.
"Hal I'm gonna put him up in the spare room." Haley smiled and followed him upstairs. They changed him into one of JC's shirts and tucked him into the bed. JC changed into dry clothes and gave Haley a pair of Adidas pants and a sweatshirt. She changed and JC just held her in his arms.
"Let's go downstairs baby." Haley whispered. JC kissed her head and followed her downstairs.
Everyone asked so many questions Haley's head was spinning. They watched a movie but in the middle of it JC and Haley went upstairs. They fell asleep in each other's arms. Haley was so happy that she was back in the familiar bed with JC's familiar scent and touch surrounding her.

In the middle of the night JC woke up when he felt a hand on his face. He opened eyes and saw a sad looking Parker in front of him.
"What's wrong Parker?" JC asked sitting up in bed. Tears were running down his face as he silently climbed into the bed.
"I had a dream." Parker whispered as he stood on JC's lap. JC wrapped his arms around Parker and held him until he fell asleep. He placed him next to Haley who was still asleep. He kissed her head and fell back to sleep his arms around her. Haley woke and smiled as she felt Parker wiggle between her and JC. Their steady breathing lulled her back to sleep.
CHAPTER 19

JC and Haley talked more the next morning. About the wedding, the guests, meals and Parker. They both wanted to tell Parker about JC being his daddy. More and more he was asking about his father and it broke Haley's heart every time when she avoided the subject.

As JC pulled into Haley's driveway he smiled at Parker sitting on the steps waiting for him. He jumped out of the car and bent down to Parker's level. Parker's eyes lit up when he saw JC and immediately he was in a full dash run for JC.
"Daddy!" Parker yelled as he jumped into JC's arms. Usually JC would have spun Parker around but he was in total shock at that moment. "Daddy are you ok?" Parker asked as he pulled away from JC. JC stood there smiling and he hugged Parker again as a tear slipped down his face.
"I'm fine kid. How bout you?"
"Mommy is crazy! She told me to wait outside for you." Parker said as he led JC into the house. At the smell of the Pinesol as he walked into the house JC knew Haley was nervous. She came running down the stairs her hair pulled up in a messy bun and a bandana over it. JC smiled as she ran into his arms.
"So you hear the news?" Haley's breath tickled in JC's ear.
"What that I'm a daddy?" JC smiled and kissed Haley's forehead.
"Yeah, I told him last night. He wanted to know why you were moving in."
"What did he say?"
"He was happy but then he wanted to know why you were away for such a long time. We'll tell him when he is older." Haley whispered as JC's mouth got closer to hers. They kissed for a moment until Joey bounded into the door.
"Hey buddy!" Joey cried as he slapped Parker a high-five. He picked him up and placed him on his shoulders. "Ready to go J?"
Haley looked at JC and then to Joey. "Where?" she asked as she rested her hands on JC's head.
"I was going to take Parker out for ice cream and of course Joey had to come." JC said as his hands played with the elastic on Haley's Adidas pants.
"Fine! Make me do all the work!" Haley yelled throwing her hands in the air. JC pulled her closer and gazed into her eyes. He knew she was kidding by the way her eyes were sparkling. He smiled and kissed her on the nose.
"Thanks babe." JC called as he dashed out the door. Haley waved from the window as she watched the three kids race to the car. Still laughing at their stupidity and hurried upstairs with one of JC's many boxes full of clothes and junk.
A couple minutes later she heard the door open again.
JC must have forgot his wallet or something.
She skipped down the stairs, an empty box in hand. When she saw the figure standing at the door she gasped. "Mike!"
"Haley I thought I told you to say away from JC!" Mike yelled in anger. He lifted his hand and Haley screamed. There was a loud bang and Haley felt a sharp pain in her right side. She fell to the ground and everything went black.
CHAPTER 20

The sunlight shining in through the wide Hospital window woke JC too early in the morning. A kiss on his cheek made his eye open. He smiled at the happy Parker that was sitting on his lap.
"Morning Daddy!" Parker said as he hopped off JC's lap and ran over to the table in the corner. JC slowly sat up in the chair and made his way over to Haley's bed. She smiled at his sleepy expression as he sat on the edge of her bed.
"Morning Blue Eyes." Haley said as JC leaned in to kiss her forehead.
"Morning." He murmured as he fell next to her on the bed. She laughed and patted his back.
"Was that chair comfortable?" She asked still laughing. He moaned and turned over on his back looking up at the ceiling.
"Oomph!" Parker jumped on JC's stomach causing Haley to burst into giggles.
"Tiger! Grr!" Parker growled as he lay on JC's stomach a box of frosted flakes in his hand. JC smiled and took the box out of his hand, opening it easily. "Tank you." Parker slid off JC and ran over to the table. JC got up and followed him over to pour his milk. When the cereal was ready Parker dug in happily. JC walked over and sat next to Haley on the bed. He leaned back against her chest and looked up at her smiling face.
"Feelin' better?" Haley smiled wider and nodded her head. "Good" JC said as he sat up and kissed her nose. "I'm going to go talk to the doctor. I'll be back." JC walked out the door and closed it silently behind him. As he walked down the hall he was practically skipping. He leaned on the counter of the front desk and smiled at the nurse.
"Can I help you?" She asked aggravated to be bothered from her work.
"Yes. I would like to speak with Dr. Macnzie."
"Well, ya know I would like a new car but we don't always get what we want do we?" With that the lady turned around and walked somewhere. JC was so surprised and he was going to yell something when he saw the doctor walking by.
"Dr. Macnzie!" JC yelled as he ran up to the doctor. He was greeted surprisingly by a smile.
"Ah! Mr. Chasez I was just going to talk to you." The doctor said leading JC over to the lobby. They sat down in two chairs facing each other.
"Great. I was wondering about Haley. When can she come home?"
"Well, she is doing better, much better. I just gave her a shot to ease some of the pain she was still feeling. She will probably be asleep when you get back to her room. She is going to need physical therapy, probably for 2 weeks." JC listened closely absorbing everything. "She'll be released next week sometime. She'll be fine, with a little hard work and all the love you and your son is giving her I promise she will be fine." He shook JC's hand and walked away. JC was happy that Haley was going to get better. He walked slowly back to her room, his hands in his pockets.
"JC!" He was just going to get on the elevator when he heard someone calling his name. He turned around to find Rachel and Justin running towards him. "How is she." Justin breathed out after resting on a seat next to him.
"She's fine guys. I was just going to her room so you can come and visit." They all got in the elevator and JC filled them in on Haley's condition. When the elevator opened JC sighed loudly when he saw Lou standing at the desk. 'N Sync hadn't been agreeing with Lou lately and they were mostly talking through Johnny so to see Lou at the hospital wasn't the greatest surprise. JC and Justin tried to sneak by without being seen but unsuccessful was their plan.
"JC, Justin! How's Haley.." before JC could answer Lou was blabbing again. "Great. Now I need to talk to you guys about the upcoming tour…" Lou's voice trailed off as he, Justin, and JC walked down the hall way in the opposite direction of Haley's room. Rachel stood there shocked by how rude Lou had been. She shook her head and made her way to where JC had said Haley's room was.

Fifteen minutes later JC and Justin made their way to Haley's room. JC's head was turning from the news that Lou had told them. Their next tour wasn't scheduled until January letting JC have 6 months to get settled with Haley. Being the greedy, pig-headed man that Lou was he had added more concert dates to the tour. It now started in 3 weeks. JC was mad that Lou was so apathetic, scheduling the concerts without even asking him of the other guys. He shook his head in disappointment as he and Justin turned the corner.
"What's wrong babe?" Justin asked as he looked at Rachel. She was sitting in a chair, slouching, with her hands across her chest.
"They won't let me see Hal." Rachel pouted as her eyesight lifted off the floor.
Justin smirked at her innocent little face. He pulled her up off the chair and kissed her nose. 'You're so cute."
JC laughed at Rachel's now crimson cheeks and looked at his watch. "Yeah sorry Rach. Its 11:00 now try at like 2:00 ok?" Rachel shook her head and wrapped her hand around Justin's waist. They walked down the hall quietly until they reached the elevator. JC heard Rachel hit Justin playfully. "Justin Randall, you are bad." JC laughed as he walked into Haley's room. Parker was watching some cartoon on T.V. and Haley looked like she was sleeping. As JC tiptoed into the room Haley's eyes opened and she lifted her head off the pillow.
"Hey baby." Haley said sleepily. JC sat on the edge and shook his head.
"You should be asleep." He tucked the blanket around Haley's body.
"I'm fine." She lied. Her head was heavy and she needed rest but she had something on her mind. "Take our little Blue Eyes home. I talked to Lynn and she said that he could stay over at her house. Could you finish unpacking your stuff and then maybe stop by later?" Haley played with JC's fingers as she talked causing him to laugh at how cute she looked.
"Sure. I'd love too." JC leaned in and kissed her forehead. She closed her eyes and rested her head on the bed, ready to go to sleep. "Come on Parker." JC took Parker's hand and lead him to the car.
"Bye Mommy!" Parker called as he ran ahead of JC. Haley smiled to herself before drifting off to sleep.
