A man stood quietly in the rain. It didn’t really
seem to bother him. In fact, he didn’t seem to
notice that it was raining, at all. He seemed lost in
thought.
It had been four years since he had held her.
~
JC Chasez stood quietly beside her. He couldn’t see
her, but he knew she was there. He let a
tear roll slowly down his cheek. He thought he could
hear music playing from somewhere, but
didn’t know where. It sounded like the song that was
playing on their last night together.

“As I watch you move, across the moonlit room
There's so much tenderness in your loving
Tomorrow I must leave, the dawn knows no reprieve”

JC had been packing his bags for another tour with ‘N
Sync. Tallia, his girlfriend of two
years, and soon to be wife, had to stay behind. She
would be joining him on tour in a few months.

“God give me strength when I am leaving...
So raise your hands to heaven and pray
That we'll be back together someday
Tonight, I need your sweet caress
Hold me in the darkness
Tonight, you calm my restlessness
You relieve my sadness”
“As we move to embrace, tears run down your face
I whisper words of love so softly
I can't believe this pain, it's driving me insane
Without your love life will be lonely”
They had spent the night wrapped in each other’s
arms, making love. Tallia knew she was
going to miss him, but she knew that she would be
joining him soon.

“Morning has come, another day
I must pack my bags and say goodbye...”

The next day, Tallia drove JC to meet the other guys.
He had wrapped her in his arms and
kissed her. He told her he would be seeing her in a
few weeks.
She had tried not to let her tears show, but she
already missed him. She whispered, “I love
you.”
He had held her tight and told her, “It won’t be long
until we are together. I love you, too.”
He hadn’t known that would be the last time he would
kiss her. He got on the tour bus, and
waved to her. As he watched her form disappearing
from sight, he seen an awful sight unfolding
in front of him. She was standing on the sidewalk,
still waving to him. She didn’t see the pickup
that had lost control and was headed straight for her.
“Noooooo!” JC yelled. It happened as if it
was in slow motion. The pickup struck her. He saw
her body flying through the air, then landing.
He ran to the front of the bus, “Stop the bus!”
The bus driver stopped and JC flew off the bus to
Tallia’s side. “My God, Tallia,” he moaned.
He held her unmoving body. “I love you! Don’t you
leave me!” he kept repeating. He heard
sirens in the background.
“Sir, you’re gonna have to let go of her,” a
paramedic said.
“No! Leave her alone,” he said, hugging her.
“JC, you have to let her go. They’re trying to help
her,” Lance said. He pulled JC away from
Tallia. JC got up slowly and watched as they put her
in an ambulance. He got in with her and
rode to the hospital. When they arrived at the
hospital, Tallia was taken away to surgery right
away.
After a few hours, a doctor had come out, “I’m sorry
Mr. Chasez, we lost your fiance.” JC
had sat down, stunned. He didn’t hear what the rest
of what the doctor was saying to him.

So raise your hands to heaven and pray
That we'll be back together someday
Tonight, I need your sweet caress
Hold me in the darkness
Tonight, you calm my restlessness
You relieve my sadness

JC sat down, on the wet ground, beside her grave. He
gently laid the lilacs, her favorite
flower, on her grave. It had been four years, but he
missed her like it was yesterday. He felt
someone tug on his sleeve. He looked down.
“Daddy? Is Mommy here?” a beautiful little girl
asked. She was the spitting image of her
mom. She had vivid hazel eyes and a beautiful face.
It almost hurt to look at her, because she
looked so much like her mom. Tallia had been 8 months
pregnant when the pickup hit and killed
her. Only by a miracle, were the doctors able to save
his little girl.
“Yes, honey,” JC said. “Go ahead and say hi to her.”
“Hi Mommy. I love you!” JC watched as his little
girl talked to her mom. He felt tears slide
down his cheeks. Adaira had never met her mommy, but
JC was constantly talking about her. So
she knew all about her mom. “I’m big now. I wish you
were here, but Daddy says you are
helping God. He said we’ll be together someday.”
“I love you, Tallia. I miss you so much. Adaira is
growing up so fast. She’s so smart. She
already has your sense of humor. I thank you everyday
for Adaira, without her, I don’t know
how I would have gone on. We love you,” JC said. He
knew she was there, listening to him. He
came here every year on her birthday and Adaira’s. JC
walked over to where Adaira was standing
and took her hand.

From a distance, Tallia watched as the man she loved
walked away from her grave. She
wanted so much to hold him again, but knew that he had
a long life ahead of him. She listened as
the music still played. She couldn’t wait until the
day they would finally be together again.

So raise your hands to heaven and pray
That we'll be back together someday
Tonight, I need your sweet caress
Hold me in the darkness
Tonight, you calm my restlessness
You relieve my sadness
