Drive Myself Crazy
Part One
*********************
In Colorado....

Kim opened the door. "Anybody home?"
"I'm in my room," yelled Eppie. Clothes and luggage were laid out
everywhere.
"Wow, Eppie, you're a really messy packer. Ya know that?"Kim joked. "I know!
I can't help it though. I just have to make sure I don't forget anything for
the trip."
Eppie had four bags. The biggest had all of her outfits in it, one had her
toiletries and make-up, another was full of shoes, and the last one was a
carry on with cds and things to do on the airplane.
"I don't get why you're making such a big fuss over the whole packing
thing.... I mean, who are you dressing up for anyway? Mickey >Mouse?"
Eppie ignored her comment. Kim and Eppie had been best friends for almost
ten years and agreed on almost everything... except on vacation spots. Kim
always wanted to go do outdoorsy stuff and rock climb and things like that.
Eppie had always been kind of a "Disney girl". She loved to go to Orlando
and the beach. But especially, she liked Disney World. This was her fourth
trip there and she was ecstatic.
Kim remarked, "It's not like you're going to be meeting any guys there
anyway, once they see that you're there with your family...."
"Oh, leave me alone already! I honestly don't even care about meeting any
guys. I just wanna have fun and ride some roller coasters and go SHOPPING
and just take a break from guys for a while...." Her voice trailed off.
Eppie was still hurting from a break up that happened nearly two months ago.
Ronnie, her now ex-boyfriend, cheated on her with one of her "so-called"
friends. She didn't think she could ever learn to trust another guy with her
heart again.
"Eppie....not all guys are like that...Ronnie's just a jerk. Someday you'll
meet a guy who will treat you right. I know it." Kimmy always
tried to reassure her.
"Yeah...right." Eppie said, staring out the window.
Kim tried to change the subject, "Well, you are so lucky. At least now
you'll be able to get a descent tan. You'll come home and be the envy of
everyone."
Eppie put on a fake smile and continued packing.

********************************
Meanwhile....... Back in Orlando....

:::Ring:::

Justin groaned, "Hello?"
"HI! Is this Justin Timberlake?!" A squealing girl asked.
Justin groaned again. "Yep. It sure is."
The girl on the other end screamed into the phone. "Justin, I am the BIGGEST
fan of yours! You're so hot. I just love you...." she just kept talking and
talking. So fast that he barely understood her.
"Alright. Thank you. I love you too." He said, a little annoyed. "Could you
just hold on for a sec, please?" He set the phone down. "JC?" He yelled down
the hall.
JC walked into the room. "What?"
"Please do me a favor and talk to this girl. I have no idea how she got this
number, but she did and I'm trying to sleep!!!" Justin whined.
"That's why you shouldn't party so much and spend more time sleeping AT
NIGHT, like me." JC said proudly.
"Please, JC. Just this once. I'll let you borrow my car or
something....Please? I'm BEGGING!"
"Just because I'm a nice person.... I'll do it. I don't even want to borrow
your car." JC joked.
"Thank you so much," Justin said, "you're such a great friend. Anytime you
need a favor...."
"My jeep could use a good washing..." JC replied.
"HAHA." Justin laughed sarcastically.
JC walked out of the room with the phone. "Hi, this is JC..." he started.
Justin layed back down. They had only been home for a few days and he wanted
to get as much rest as possible, but it was really hard when he had girls
calling him up all the time.
He met swarms of girls everyday while on the road, but he just never really
found "the one". A girl that he could tell everything and just laugh with.
Sure, he dated a lot but he just never found anyone that he wanted to "risk
it" with and be "together" with even when they were apart. He closed his
eyes and fell asleep immediately.

Drive Myself Crazy
Part Two

In Colorado.....

Kim's mom drove Eppie and her family to the airport the next morning.
"Soak up a little extra sun for me, okay Eppie?" Kim joked.
"I almost wish I could go with you!"
"Me too," Eppie lied.
As much as she loved hanging out with Kim and talking to her, she was really
excited to get away from her. Kim and the rest of their friends had been
treating her a little too nicely lately. It made her sick. All that it did
was remind her more of what Ronnie did. Eppie just wanted to get away for a
while and forget. Orlando was her escape.
She hugged Kim goodbye and promised to send a postcard. Then she
boarded the plane with her parents and younger sister, Jesse.

---------------------

The plane landed.
Eppie and her family picked up their rental car and headed for their condo.
It was the same little condo on the beach that they had stayed in for the
past four years; almost like a second home to them. Staring at the
sun-drenched sand and the calm ocean, Eppie couldn't
help but think that this was the perfect place for an escape.
She hopped out of the car, ran to the door of the cute, blue-grey condo,
flew up the stairs, and flung open the door to the room she had stayed in on
every trip. Throwing her luggage down onto the floor, she plopped onto the
bed and made herself comfortable. She layed there for about half an hour
when her father came into her room.
"Hey, Ep, we're going to dinner in half an hour. You might want to get
ready." He said in a sweet, yet parental tone.
"Okay, dad." She laid there for another five minutes and decided to change
for dinner.
She put on a pair of worn-in, dark blue American Eagle shorts and a cute red
tank top, also from AE. Shoes were always the tough part of
getting dressed for her. She brought six pairs with her for the trip
and had over fourty at home. Her mother always told her that she was
obsessed with shoes but she didn't think so.
After she finally decided on a pair of brown open toe and heel sandals, she
went downstairs to the family room where her parents and sister were
waiting.
"So, where are we going to eat?" Eppie asked.
"I thought maybe we'd go to Planet Hollywood," her dad replied.

***********************
Back at Justin's house.....

"Sweetie," Justin's mom called, "what do you say we go out to dinner,
hmmm?"
Justin gave her a look as if she was crazy. "Mom, if we go to dinner, I
might get recognized! I don't feel like dealing with the press right now."
Joey walked in from the kitchen. "Well, I don't mind the press. I'm
hungry!"
Justin and his mom laughed. "What else is new?"
"HAHA. Very funny. C'mon Justin. It'll be fun. You can't go locking
yourself up in your house forever just to stay away from the press. Or
else pretty soon, they'll just start banging down your door and coming in
here themselves."
Joey did have a point and Justin knew it.
"Okay,I'll go."

********************
At Planet Hollywood

While Eppie and her family sat in their booth and looked through their
menus, a shrieking teenage girl came running past them.
"Justin and Joey from 'N SYNC are here!" She yelled to her friends sitting
at the table across the room.
After screaming until their voices were hoarse, the girls ran out to see if
they could catch a glimpse of them.
Eppie looked at them rather amused.
"Ep, isn't 'N Sync that cute boy group you're going with Kim to see for her
birthday?" Eppie's mom asked, trying to sound "hip" and knowledgable of pop
culture. Eppie's mom started singing "I Want it That Way".
"Mom, that's the Backstreet Boys." Eppie said, laughing at the way her
mother always tried to seem cool and into all the things that the younger
generation was into.
"Eppie, why don't you go over there and see if you can get an autograph or
something?" Her mom asked.
"Kim's the one who loves 'N Sync so much, mom. Not me."
"Well, it would be nice if you would try to get an autograph for her
then."
Her mother was right. She knew it would be the nice thing to do. She just
didn't feel like it.
Before she could say another word, her eleven year old sister jumped in.
"I'll go get autographs! I want to meet them!"
She rushed over to the crowd of people trying to stand on the tips of her
toes to see them.
Eppie was glad that was over with. The only reason she was going to the
concert was because Kim liked 'N Sync and it was Kim's birthday celebration.
She thought they were talented and had great voices, but her mind had been
more on her problems than music.
Jesse ran back to the table out of breath.
"I got their autographs!" she yelled. "I got autographs for me and Kim!" She
was so proud of herself. "Eppie, they're really CUTE!" Eppie's mind was
already drifting back home to her problems with Ronnie and her friends. I'M
NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THINKING ABOUT THAT
STUFF RIGHT NOW. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE MY VACATION -- she said to herself.

********************
Justin's car.....

"Well, that was one autograph session I was not intending on." Justin
remarked.
"It was fun!" Joey continued, "At least the food was good."

Drive Myself Crazy
Part Three

The next day.....

Eppie woke up bright and early the next morning to go with her family to
Orlando's Titanic museum. She wore a pair of dark blue capri pants that
rolled up at the bottom with a light blue halter top and white sandals.
"Pick up the pace, Ep!" Her parents yelled to her from the bottom of the
stairs.
She ran down the steps and into the kitchen to grab a poptart for
breakfast.
On the drive to the museum, Jesse would not stop talking about how cool Joey
and Justin were at Planet Hollywood and how cute they were.
Eppie grinned. It was her sister's first big crush. "You really missed out,
Eppie. They're sooo cool!" She kept saying.
"I'm sure they were...." she replied.

**********************

Justin decided to take Joey's advice and seize the day. He hopped in his car
and decided to be spontaneous and just go to wherever he ended up.

**********************
At the Titanic Museum...

Eppie was walking through the Titanic museum and looking at all of the
exhibits. She noticed that she was no longer with her family.THEY MUST HAVE
GONE AHEAD-- she thought. She also noticed that there was a very
good-looking guy staring at her. He was tall with curly, blonde hair and
blue eyes. She tried not to stare back but it was hard to do. He started
walking towards her. She acted as if she didn't notice. I WISH HE WOULD JUST
GO AWAY-- she thought.
Apparently, her luck just wasn't working because he kept walking and started
to talk to her. "Hi," he said.
"Hi!" She replied. She couldn't help but notice that he was absolutely
gorgeous.
"I couldn't help but notice you from across the room..." He said, trying to
sound ultra-suave. "I'm Justin."
"I'm Eppie."
GO AWAY, JUST LEAVE ME ALONE, PLEASE-- she thought.
She told herself she wasn't going to worry about guys on this trip and there
she was talking to none other but a guy. HE'S NOT WORTH IT NO MATTER HOW
GORGEOUS HE IS, EP-- she told herself. But she couldn't walk away. Something
compelled her to stay.
"That's an interesting name. Eppie." He commented.
"Thanks. Actually, my dad's favorite book is Les Miserables and Eponine is
the name of one of the characters in it.... It's kind of embarrassing to
admit, I guess. Most people just call me Eppie."
"Well, It's a beautiful name. You shouldn't be embarrassed about it!"
NOT ONLY IS HE GORGEOUS, HE'S SWEET TOO! AHHH!-- she was beginning to get a
little weak in the knees.
"So, do you live around here or are you just visiting?" He asked.
"I'm a tourist." She admitted. He laughed.
"How about you?" She asked.
Justin was shocked. He thought that for sure she knew that he was Justin
Timberlake from 'N Sync. "I live here."
"You're lucky. You can just go out and get a tan whenever ya feel like it or
you can just go to Disney World... I would love to live here." Eppie
replied.

-----------

Eppie found herself still talking to Justin forty five minutes later.
"You're a very unique person. I like that." Justin said smiling at her
through his pearly white teeth.
"Well, ya know. You can't name someone Eponine and not expect them to be
unique." She remarked.
She was drawn out of her trance just long enough to realize that her parents
were probably at the end of the museum by now.
"Do you have the time?" She asked, trying not to sound rude.
"Sure do. It is 11:50."
Eppie frowned.
"What's wrong?" Justin asked.
"I think I lost my family. I probably should go find them."
"Well, do you think that your family would mind if I took you to dinner
tonight?" Justin asked, smiling his biggest smile.
"No, I don't think they'd mind." Eppie replied with a blush. I'VE NEVER
BLUSHED IN MY LIFE! WHY DO I HAVE TO START NOW?
"Well, then, could I pick you up at...."
Eppie interrupted, "You asked if my family would mind. You didn't ask if I'd
mind."
Justin frowned. "Oh, I see."
"But, no... I wouldn't mind either."
His frown turned back into a smile. "Well, then when can I pick you up? And
WHERE should I pick you up? How about 6:30?"
After giving him the directions to the condo, they said goodbye and Eppie
went to find her family.

Drive Myself Crazy
Part Four
**********************

It was 6:25. The doorbell rang. Eppie's father jumped up from the chair he
had been reclining in and opened the door. "Hi. You must be Justin."
Justin smiled, "Yes I am."
Eppie's dad motioned for Justin to come in. "Come on in. Make yourself
comfortable!"
Eppie's mom entered the room. "Oh, hi! Welcome! You must be Justin. I'm
Eppie's mom. You can just call me Denise. Would you like something to
drink?"
"No thank you. I'm fine." He replied.
"...And this is my husband. You can just call him Jim." Eppie's mother
always liked Eppie's friends to call them by their first names. It made
Denise feel younger.
Justin shook both of their hands.
"We do have another daughter, Jess, but she's out playing on the beach
somewhere. You'll just have to meet her some other time."
Eppie ran down the steps. "Mom, Dad? Did I hear the doorbe---" She glanced
at Justin, "Oh, I guess I did." She blushed again. I REALLY NEED TO STOP
THIS BLUSHING THING! WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?
"Hi." Justin smiled.
After giving the whole schpeel on Eppie's curfew and how she should be
treated on her date, Eppie's father let them go.
Eppie apologized as they walked to the door. "He always does that! I think
he just does it to annoy me!"
"No problem." Justin laughed. "All parents do that. I think it's their way
of torturing us for all the misery we put them through growing up."
Eppie giggled. "You are so right!"

---------

"So, where do you want to go for dinner?" Justin asked.
"I don't know.... Have you ever been to The Rain Forest Cafe?"
Justin nodded. "Yes, it's delicious! So, should we go there?"
Eppie nodded.
They talked the whole way there about everything and nothing. They talked
about school and colleges and sports and music.... Justin didn't mention
anything about 'N Sync.

------

The date was going great. They had so much in common. Justin knew that he
would have to tell her about 'N Sync sometime. He just didn't know how to
tell her.
What if she hated 'N Sync? What if she started screaming and then
fainted??? He decided to wait.
They talked for a long time after they were finished eating and decided that
Justin would take her on a tour of Orlando. They drove by all of the
hotspots and all of his favorite places.
He knew that he liked her and from what he could tell, she liked him. So, he
took her by the warehouse that 'N Sync practiced in to get ready for their
tours.
"What's this place?" Eppie questioned.
"Eppie... have you ever heard of a group called 'N Sync?"
"Sure I have. Who hasn't?" She replied with a curious look on her face.
"Well..." he stumbled through the words. "...I'm...woo...I'm in 'N Sync."
Justin said, squinting. Hoping she wouldn't get too angry and start yelling
at him.
"Are you serious?" She asked in a doubtful tone.
"Yes. Really. I'm serious...... I'm the N in 'N Sync....Justin Timberlake."
Eppie looked at his face questioningly. Trying to see whether or not he was
serious or if he was only kidding. He looked at her. His eyes told her that
he was not lying.
"Okay." She said. "I believe you."
Justin was amazed. "Really? You don't think I'm lying?"
"No. I don't think you'd make something like that up."
Eppie continued, "But why didn't you tell me that before?"
"Well, I didn't want you to like me or dislike me because I'm in 'N Sync. I
wanted you to like me for ME." Justin replied.
"I do like you, Justin.... A lot."
....KIM IS NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THIS....--she thought. WOW! THAT'S AMAZING--
That was the first time that she had thought about Kim or anyone back home
since she met Justin. She had completely forgotten about all of that. MAYBE
ORLANDO IS A GOOD PLACE FOR AN ESCAPE.

--------

Justin had her home by curfew. Even a few minutes early just to make her dad
happy.
"So... can I see you again?" He asked.
"Yeah. I would like that." Eppie replied.
"Could I have your number?" He asked.
"Oh. Of course."
Justin pulled out a pen and a napkin that had been laying on the floor. They
exchanged numbers.
"I'll call you tomorrow. Okay?" He said, making sure it was okay with her.
"Okay."
He walked her to the door but didn't give her a kiss good night. They
said their goodbyes and he was on his way.
