Prologue
Some where over the Atlantic October 10, 1999
Rhiannon sat in her very comfortable seat in the private jet that
belonged her recording company, Jive. She was on her way home from a four
month long European tour. The last month spent touring with her fellow
passengers on the plane, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and *N Sync, in
the Pop Star Music Mania European tour. 98* had also been a part of the tour
but they had stayed in England.
She looked down at the dark waters below. "A storm is coming." She
thought.
"It was really nice of Jive to let me fly home with you guys," Christina
said to everyone on the plane.
"Well maybe they're trying to get you to dump RCA and sign with them."
Chris joked.
"Who knows maybe I will" Christina said, her blue eyes twinkling.
"At least RCA let you tour with us on the PSMM. They are letting you do
the American tour right?" Lance asked.
"Yes they are." Christina responded looking down at the book in
Rhiannon's lap.
"After the fuss they put up when we left I thought maybe they wouldn't
let you." Justin said as he shifted his weight so he would be more
comfortable as a sleeping Britney's head rested on his shoulder.
Rhiannon laughed sarcastically, "Yeah, they lost half their company when
you guys left. And Justin you better be careful," she said pointing to
Britney, "if any one else but us saw the two of you like that the rumors
would be flying again."
"She has a point J." JC said chuckling.
"The next thing you know she's having your baby again." Chris joked.
"Or you two are secretly getting married." Christina chimed in glancing
at the book in Rhiannon's lap again.
"Or the ever present sucking face in a limo." Joey added.
"Cut it out you guys." A not so sleepy Britney said, eyes closed, head
still on Justin's shoulder.
"Sorry, we were just having fun, " Christina apologized, "Rhia is that
another Historical Romance novel?"
"Huh?" Rhiannon asked.
"In your lap." JC said looking into Rhiannon's sapphire blue eyes.
She forced herself to unlock her gaze with his. "God I hate it when
that happens," she thought.
"No you don't." a voice inside her head said.
"Probably," Britney said smiling at her as she lifted her head off
Justin's shoulder," You were always reading them on tour."
Rhiannon bent her dark head to look at the book in her lap. "Actually no
it's not," she said, "my mother gave it to me, it's the O' Wakefield family
history."
Suddenly lightning crashed and thunder rolled. The group of friends and
colleagues jumped.
"Why did that seem like an omen?" Lance asked.
"It's the beginning of a storm." Rhiannon explained
"Like duh!" Chris stated.
"So what's so special about the O' Wakefield family history?" Britney
asked interested. "Nothing as far as I've read. Except that one of my
ancestors had the same name as me, but I guess I could thank my parents for
that." Rhiannon explained.
"So there was another Rhiannon O' Wakefield?" JC asked.
"Well before she got married. Then she became.." Rhiannon opened the
book and thumbed through it, "that's odd some pages are missing. Well it's
an old book."
The lightning and the thunder got more frequent.
"What era did your name sake live in?" Justin asked.
"The Regency Period, which was about the early 1800's." Rhiannon
answered.
"What part of Ireland? Maybe we're related." Chris joked.
"Well she was the daughter of the Earl of Glenroe, so my guess is
Glenroe. But she did live in England and France for a time. But that's all
I know."
The thunder worsened.
"I think I was related to Eleanor of Aquataine, or someone from
Aquataine." JC stated.
" I think I have a few lords and ladies in my family history." Justin
put in.
The thunder and lighting was all around them.
"This isn't good." Joey said as the plane started to shake.
"I'm scared" Christina said grabbing a hold of Rhiannon.
"What the hell is happening?" Lance asked as the lights in the plane
started to go in and out.
"I think the plane is crashing." JC said as everything went black
Chapter 1
Glenroe, Ireland Oct. 10, 1810
"Rhiannon, puss wake up." A voice said.
"Huh? What? Christina?" Rhiannon mumbled as her eyes slowly opened.
"No Darling it's your mother. " The voice said with a Irish accent
"Huh?" Rhiannon asked fully awake and looking at a woman she had never
seen before in her life. "She looks sort of familiar though," Rhiannon
thought, "and why is she wearing that absolutely gorgeous period costume."
"Rhiannon your sister is in her room getting ready for today's events.
Britney, your new lady's maid is helping her. Now you have to get up. As
soon as Britney is finished with Christina she'll come and help you." The
very pretty but unfamiliar woman said as she pulled the covers off of
Rhiannon.
"Christina's my sister and Britney's a maid?" Rhiannon wondered out
loud.
"You must of been dreaming about the wee people." The woman who thought
she was Rhiannon's mother laughed.
"Actually this is the dream." Rhiannon responded sitting up and looking
at the woman. "It has to be." She thought.
"Enough nonsense Rhiannon O' Wakefield. Your bath is ready. Don't
dawdle or the water will get cold." The lady said giving Rhiannon a loving
kiss on the cheek and left the room. Rhiannon looked at the door that just
closed, then around the rest of the room. The room was filled with beautiful
19 century furniture. She was sitting in the middle of a huge mahogany
canvas four poster bed and a wooden tub of steaming water sat in the middle
of the room. "Okay Rhia your just dreaming, you need to wake up." She said
pinching herself, "Ouch!"
Nothing.
"Okay, the last thing I remember was the lights of the plane going
ou...oh god maybe I'm dead. If I'm dead then the others might be dead to."
Rhiannon said as tears formed in her eyes. "Wait, if I'm dead then why is
heaven 19 Century Ireland, at least I assume it's Ireland." Several moments
passed as Rhiannon tried to figure out what was going on. She finally gave
up and removed her nightgown and stepped into the bath.
"Hold still, I can't believe I have to do this." Britney said as she
tugged on the strings of Rhiannon's corset
"I can't believe you know how." Christina said from her seat on
Rhiannon's bed. "Neither can I." Britney said tying the strings
together and standing back in confusion. "Have either of you come up
with what's going on here?" Rhiannon said looking at her friends.
"Well all I know is that my last name is no longer Aguilera it's the same
as yours and that we're in what seems to be middle age Ireland. I kind of
like the clothes but not the corset." Christina said.
"Britney what's your last name?" Rhiannon asked as Britney brought a
beautiful blue empire waisted dress over her head.
"Well normally I would answer Spears but it seems to be MacEwen, I think
I'm Scottish."
"Your not speaking with a Scottish burr." Rhiannon pointed out.
"Well you and Christina aren't speaking with a Irish accent either, but
no one but us seems to notice." Britney said buttoning the back of
Rhiannon's dress.
"Good point, though it is odd." Christina said.
"This whole thing is odd C." Rhiannon said sitting down at the vanity so
Britney could do her hair.
"Good point." Christina repeated.
"The last thing I remember before waking up with a mother I've never seen
in a room I've never been in , almost 200 years back in time, I was in the
plane and we were all talking and then a storm came upon us and everything
went black. What about you guys? Ouch, Brit!" "Sorry. My memory is
pretty much the same." Britney said softening her technique on Rhiannon's
hair.
"Same here," Christina said, "Wait a sec!"
"What?" Both Britney and Rhiannon asked. "
We were talking about our ancestors. Rhia we were talking about your
ancestor the other Rhiannon O'Wakefield."
"Yeah so?" Britney and Rhiannon responded at the same time again.
"Do remember if it said anything about her having a sister?" Christina
asked.
"Yeah, her name was CHRISTINA! She had a brother to. My like to many to
say Great-Grandfather." Rhiannon exclaimed spinning around to face her
friends.
"I was finished anyways." Britney said as she sat on a stool next to the
bed.
"What was his name?" Christina asked.
"My guess is Christopher." A voice said from the doorway.
"Chris!" The girls said as they got up to embrace him.
"I'm so glad your here too. Though I think were figuring what is going
on out." Rhiannon said going to the edge of the bed to sit with Christina and
Britney and allowing Chris a chair. "This isn't one of my wisecracks.
I think we've gone back in time for some reason or another and it had
something to do with your ancestors Rhia." Chris said.
"Okay, the four of us are here but where are the others?" Britney asked.
"Good question." Chris stated.
"Well the besides Rhiannon who's actually a member of this family.
Albeit 200 years into the future. The three of us have taken the place of
someone in the first Rhiannon's life that we shared first names with."
Christina stated.
"Then my guess is that the others did as well but maybe we haven't met
them yet." Chris said.
"Well it's just a guess but Lance is probably Viscount Ryding from
England." Rhiannon said," from what I remember of the book his name was
James Langston."
A look of confusion crossed Britney's face for a second then vanished.
"Who is he to well I guess you?" Christina asked.
"Well if it's October still or yet or whatever, he's your future
husband." Rhiannon explained.
"What?"
"Well Christina O' Wakefield's future husband."
"And the others?" Chris and Britney asked.
"They are probably in the missing pages." Rhiannon sighed.
"Well if what you say about Lance is true then he should be here by the
end of the day." Chris said.
The girls looked at him in bewilderment. "How do you know?"
"Well if you haven't noticed today is an important day for the O'
Wakefield sisters." Chris stated.
"Yeah so? God I hate this corset." Rhiannon said shifting her weight to
lessen the pressure.
"I kinda like it." Chris grinned looking at the spanse of cleavage it
created.
"Chris, your supposed to be my brother!" Rhiannon said pelting him.
"Ouch!"
"What's going on today?" Christina asked.
"Well the two of you," He said looking at Christina, then Rhiannon, "are
meeting your betrothed."
"Betrothed?" Britney asked.
"Kind of like an engagement." Rhiannon explained.
"So maybe one of the other guys is your future husband." Christina said
looking at her best friend with a mischievous little grin.
Chapter 2
"Lady Rhiannon, Lady Christina, Lord Christopher. The Earl and the
Countess want you downstairs in the Receiving Room. The Viscount Ryding, the
Duke of Ashburn and party have been spotted in town. They should be arriving
shortly." A very pretty red haired maid informed the "O'Wakefield"
siblings.
"Yes thank you...um...um" Rhiannon said panicking.
"Jamie." Britney whispered into her ear.
"Yes thank you Jamie. We will be down shortly." Rhiannon stated as the
young maid disappeared behind the door.
"How did you know her name?" Chris asked.
"She's supposed to be my sister." Britney explained.
"Duke of Ashburn, he must be your betrothed." Christina said looking at
Rhiannon. "Must be. I wonder which one of the guys has taken over Duke
Ashburn?" Rhiannon questioned.
"Of Ashburn" Chris corrected.
"No, it's proper, trust me I've read enough historical romance novels to
tread water with the etiquette of the time we've been trapped in."
"Well you three better get downstairs and I better start cleaning your
rooms." Britney said with a look of despair.
"Lord James Langston, Viscount Ryding!" The Butler, Parkins announced as
Lance walked into the room.
Lance's eyes flashing a flicker of surprise as he saw three of his
missing friends. "Good afternoon my Lords, my Ladies." Lance said bowing to
the family.
"Where did he learn to do that?" Rhiannon and Christina asked each other
through identical looks in their eyes.
"Lord Justin Lyndhurst, Duke of Ashburn." Parkins said as Justin walked
through the room. Surprise, registering on his cute face.
"My Lords, Ladies." he said bowing in the same manner as did Lance.
Chris coughed to hide his laugh.
"Are you all right Christopher?" Countess Glenroe asked.
"Yes mother." He answered.
Lance and Justin looked at each other, "Mother?" They mouthed.
"Lord Joshua Chasez, Duke of Aquitaine." Parkins said as he departed.
JC walked into the room then. "My god he makes a great looking Duke."
Rhiannon thought as she stared at him wide-eyed. "Where did that come from?"
She wondered, never looking away from JC who was looking from Justin to
Lance, to Chris, "Your heart, duh!" Came the answer from that voice she
heard on the plane. JC looked at Christina and his eyes widened. "It did
not!" She argued to herself.
JC then looked straight at Rhiannon. "Breath!" he thought. "Breath!"
He kept thinking till finally he did and forced himself to address the Earl
and his family. "Earl Glenroe! Countess Glenroe!" he said bowing to each,
"I hope you don't mind but my friends insisted that I accompany them to meet
their betrothed."
"Not at all the more the merrier. Please Lord Wakefield will do."
Connor O'Wakefield said shaking JC's hand.
"As will Lady O'Wakefield." Wynne O'Wakefield, Countess of Glenroe said
smiling, "and that goes for all of you."
"Gentleman," Connor said taking Lance and Justin by the shoulders and
guided them to where the others were standing, "allow me to introduce by
children. My eldest and only son Christopher." Connor said as Chris nodded
to the three "strangers", "My youngest Christina" he said as Christina
curtsied, "and my oldest daughter Rhiannon" He finished as she to curtsied
"My Lords." Rhiannon said biting her lip to hold back her chuckle.
"Britney!" Rhiannon called as she entered "her" room with Christina
behind her.
"You called my lady." Britney said smirking from her spot by the bed she
was making. "Cut that out!" Rhiannon giggled.
"At least when we're alone." Christina added.
"Where's Chris?" Britney asked.
"In the parlor with our father and our betrothed and their friend other
wise know to us as Scoop, Curly and Sleepy Spice." Rhiannon answered.
"Okay that's everyone but Joey." Christina said with a worried look on
her face.
"I'm right here." Joey said appearing in the doorway.
"Joey!" Christina said hugging him, "why aren't you dressed like the
others?"
A look of red embarrassment washed over him.
Rhiannon covered her mouth to hide her smile, "Who valet are you Joe?"
"Your a valet?" Christina asked astonished.
"Welcome to the lower classes." Britney said patting him on the back.
"Uh thanks." Joey responded.
"You haven't answered my question who's valet are you?" Rhiannon asked
giggling. "Justin's." he muttered.
At that the three women burst into pales of laughter.
Later that evening after a very elegant dinner. Which had been rather
difficult not to laugh through as most of the group tried to find appropriate
conversation topics and Justin and Chris panicked over which fork to use
first. The majority of the group minus Joey, who was going by Joseph, and
Britney had finally found a moment to get some privacy to discuss the events
that were unfolding.
"How did we get here and when are we going home?" Lance asked Rhiannon.
"Why do you think I know the answer?" Rhiannon asked in a somewhat
surprised manner.
"Well it is your family we've been transported back in time to do god
knows what." Justin said sitting next to Rhiannon on the green settee.
"Emphasis on the god knows what." She responded.
"Well at least I know I am related to Eleanor of Aquitaine." JC said
trying to look on the bright side and not Rhiannon.
"Well considering you have the same exact name as one of your ancestors"
Chris said. "Well what are we going to do?" Christina asked.
"I feel bad discussing this without Britney and Joey." Lance said.
"We can't do anything about that Britney is preparing mine and
Christina's rooms for us to sleep." Rhiannon said with a giggle.
"And Joey is starching Justin's, what are they called, cravat's" Chris
laughed.
"Well the best thing to do is to just go one as we have and try not to
change history." JC said looking at Rhiannon.
"Which means the Christina and Lance you two will be getting married in a
month." Justin explained.
"A month!" Christina practically screamed.
"Shh! Yes a month though I hope we are not here that long." Chris said.
"Why does Rhia suddenly look so gorgeous?" JC thought. "Suddenly? She
always did you moron!" A voice in the back of his mind spit.
"And in two months Rhiannon you and Justin are getting married." Lance
stated.
"Well if we are still here in two month then I guess I am," She said
nonchalantly before a sudden look of horror crossed her face.
"What? What is it?" JC asked concerned.
"THERE WILL BE NO WEDDING NIGHT!" Rhiannon said looking straight at
Justin," No offense J. BUT NO WAY IN HELL!"
