Hypnosis is one of the most effective means of quitting smoking- and it's permanent ! By working with that part of your inner mind that gives you the desire for cigarettes, hypnosis helps eliminate that internal battle that many people experience when giving up a habit such as smoking.



WHY WILLPOWER DOESN'T WORK:

When thinking of quitting any habit, it's human nature to think that it takes a lot of willpower--" I just don't have enough willpower" " If I had more willpower, I could quit."
The problem with this thinking is, willpower is a function of your conscious mind. A habit such as smoking is controlled by your subconscious mind. How do we know? I bet you don't have to put little signs around your house saying "smoke a cigarette now."
It's also my guess that, while you may have enjoyed some of the cigarettes you've smoked in the past few days, perhaps a lot of them have gotten by you and you didn't even know you were smoking them (the 'one in the hand, one in the ashtray syndrome').
Therefore, using willpower to quit smoking is kind of like going around to the trunk of your car and pulling out the lugwrench to work on the engine- it's simply the wrong tool for the job.



HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU'RE READY TO QUIT?

You don't have to be at the point where you HATE cigarettes- most of us never get to that point. You just have to be at the point where the bad outweighs the good: you're tired of coughing, tired of your clothes smelling, perhaps you've just lost someone close to cigarettes. Whatever it is for you, somehow the scales have tipped to the point where it just makes more sense to quit than to continue.





TIME TO QUIT RIGHT NOW?

How do you know? Give yourself permission to not quit right now and see what thoughts or feelings come up inside you. If what comes up in you is something like,'what a relief, I can put this off another three weeks" then it's probably not time to quit right now. Maybe tomorrow, maybe next week, but not right now.
If,on the other hand, what came up for you is 'no, I'm ready to quit, I'm just looking for the best method to do it' I think you can trust that as being your true inner voice speaking to you telling you it's time.
