Episode 53: Princess Vs. Princess

At the Princess Festival, Misty and Jessie compete for Princess dolls, of which
they both want because of childhood experences, in a Pokémon tournament
which puts Pikachu against Jessie's new Lickitung!

Intros: Lickitung

Pokémon:

Note: We get to see how Jessie got Lickitung! Also, because this episode was
shown a little out of order, there was no Togepi. Misty uses Pikachu, Bulbasaur,
and Vulpix to help her battle, until they get 'licked' by you-know-who. (For the
record, Butterfree was NOT in the episode! Just the Who's That Pokémon!!)

Episode 54: The Purr-fect Hero

On Kid's Day, Ash and friends learn that a boy named Timmy was once saved
by a Meowth. Team Rocket's Meowth pretendes to be the hero Meowth, leading
everyone into a trap.

Intros: Hero Meowth

Pokémon:

Note: Like Princess Vs. Princess, Wartortle wasn't in this episode!!!

Episode 55: Riddle Me This

Arriving at Cinnabar Island, Ash solves riddles to find Blaine's hidden gym
under the volcano, which leads to a battle that ends with a Fire Blast on Pikachu!

Intros: Blaine, Magmar

Pokémon:

Note: Gary, Jigglypuff, and Charizard all make their next appearences. Ash
competes for his seventh badge, but the episode ends with Magmar Fire Blasting
Pikachu!

Episode 56: Volcanic Panic

After Team Rocket tries to freeze the volcano, Charizard decides to battle
Magmar.

Intros: None

Pokémon:

Note: Ash got his seventh badge and Charizard obeyed him just for the fight.

Episode 57: Beach Blank-Out Blastoise

When Ash bumps into a Wartortle, Ash's Squirtle helps out the Squirtle Island
awaken their sleeping leader, Blastoise.

Intros: The Gyarados-Sub (Really introduced in Japanese episodes).

Pokémon:

Note: Squirtle's Squirtle Squad Sunglasses make another appearence!

Episode 58: The Misty Mermaid

Returning to Cerulean City to give Horsea a rest, Misty stars in an underwater
ballet with her sisters and her Pokémon.

Intros: The newly evolved Seaking and Dewgong

Pokémon:

Note: The Seaking was a Goldeen in "The Water Flowers of Cerulean City",
and the Sensational Sisters' Seel evolves! Misty loses her Horsea AND her
Starmie.

Episode 59: Clefairy Tales

Ash and friends learn that a gruop of Clefairys is stealing everything in the city
to build a spaceship, including their backpacks, Pikachu, and Jigglypuff's
microphone/marker.

Intros: None

Pokémon:

Note: Now Seymore from the Mt. Moon episode has proof that the Clefairy
came from Outer Space! (Or they're just affiliated with Space)

Episode 60: Battle of the Badge

After Gary is beaten by the Viridian Gym Leader's most powerful Pokémon,
Team Rocket is put in charge of the Earth Badge, which Ash is desperate to win.

Intros: Gary's Nidoking and Arcanine, MEWTWO!

Pokémon:

Note: Finally, we find out some of Gary's Pokémon! We get a first look at
Mewtwo, still in his Cyber Armor, and we find out that Giovanni doesn't want
Togepi! We also get our first look at Giovanni's face. Oh yeah, and Ash won his
eighth badge.

Episode 61: It's Mr. Mimie Time

Ash dresses up as a Mr. Mime to get a lazy Mr. Mime jealous, but Team Rocket
steals Ash and a REAL Mr. Mime makes friends with Ash's Mom.

Intros: The Ketchum Mr. Mime (Mimie)

Pokémon:

Note: Ash's Mom and Mewtwo make another appearence. Giovanni really likes
his new and super-rare/powerful Pokémon move than his Persian!

Episode 62: Holiday Hi-Jynx?
