Potluck
 Websites Powered by Max Pages

Although the Horse, the Dog and the Chicken grew up in the same yard they knew each other very little, since each of them had been always preoccupied with his own business.
Then, one day, the Dog, who used to spend a lot of time with people and learned some of their habits, came up with an idea.
"Let's have a potluck," he said.
"What is a potluck?" asked the Horse. "It is a common meal when each guest brings his favourite dish to be shared with the others so that everybody can understand each other better and become friends," answered the Dog.
"Sounds like a good idea," said the Chicken. "Let's do it tomorrow."
So, the next day each of them brought his favourite dish: the Dog brought the bones, The Horse - the hay, and the Chicken - millet. In a spirit of good will and cooperation each tried earnestly to eat the food the others brought. However, despite their best intentions and considerable efforts the Horse and the Chicken had great difficulties with the bones, and the Dog found both hay and millet utterly tasteless and unpalatable.
Nevertheless, not willing to give up right away, they tried to mix what each of them brought in different ways and proportions. But every time , no matter what kind of concoction they would come up with at the end each would pick out of it those parts he had brought himself to begin with.
Eventually, after many unsuccessful attempts the planned common meal with food sharing had to be abandoned and each ate his own food only. The whole party proved to be an embarrassment and they never did it again.
