Iraq- The US military officially disbanded a council who's purpose
was to evaluate if leaving Iraq in the next few years would be possible. This
is the final signal that the US has no intention of pulling out of Iraq in
the next few months as it had claimed. The official policy was that as
soon as the new government has been established, the Military would leave, and,
by next year, the US would have only a few hundred security troops
remaining to assist Iraqi police and military. This was the third time the US had
promised to leave and has quietly retracted that promise with no
explanations.
"Entertainment"- The US congress and British parliament are both
considering three bills proposed by a anti-adult content activist
group. These bills would ban even semi-explicit material on corporate and
private business websites (In other words, no company can make money using nude
or suggestive persons in their advertising), They would put extremely
heavy security on public computers (both in libraries and Web-cafes), and
would ban downloading adult material at work by making employers pay fines
for any adult material discovered on a company computer. :As a side note:
2/3
of the accessible internet has pornographic material or links to adult
material.
Entertainment- Bill Cosby was recently accused of sexual assault
by a Canadian woman. She claims he drugged her and assaulted her in a
semi-conscious state. He denied the charges saying that she had tried
to extort him before going to the police. He, however, does admit having
an affair with the woman and has both publicly and personally apologized
to his wife. This case was denied a criminal trial because of lack of
evidence when to woman retracted her statement on learning that a criminal case
in the US yields no money for the victim.
Music- Rap groups are no longer allowed to walk around with a posse
after too many cases of violence stemming for posse interaction. This
ban is being imposed by various recording companies and is set to last for
at least 25 years. The only exception for this rule are hired personnel
such
as body- guards and attendants.
Tech- Microsoft has release info on the X-Box 2 gaming console.
This came as a surprise due to the removal of production plans for the
system. It appears that the X-Box offices are working independently of the main
microsoft offices. The elimination of plans for production came after
the early 2004 season yielded a 2 million dollar deficit a month (That
means that they lost $1,000,000 every month from this system). The problem
stems from the "windows" OS in the system. Most software producers and
console producers use a variant of Unix or Linux. That means that most
software companies have to convert their systems to Windows to produce games.
As a result, the software companies force Microsoft to pay them for most of
the titles they publish on X-Box. All other consoles are paid for the
right to have software made for their system. As it stands, there will be no
X-Box 2.
US- It was recently learned that many of the prisoners at Abu Ghraib
were minors, many under 14. This is a violation of international law
which states that if a combatant who is a minor is captured, they cannot be
held in a prison. Not only do these children qualify as minors, they are
non-combatants. In fact, 85% of people being held at Abu Ghraib are
not charged with any crime, were not captured in combat and are not even
slightly connected with terrorist activities. The average prisoner in Abu Ghraib was rounded up from the street at random. The authorities at the
facility actually don't have the names and backgrounds of over 50% of
prisoners held. These people are being held without charges,
illegally, in poor conditions, unidentified; And All This On MY TAX DOLLARS!!!!!
When questioned about this, Maj Gen Walter Wodjakowski, then the second
most senior army general in Iraq, he said: "I don't care if we're holding 15,000
innocent civilians, We're winning the war." I can't stand my or any
government doing this, and neither should you. If you're as pissed off
as I am, then contact your state congressmen, and tell them to start an
inquiry into atrocities at Abu Ghraib!!!
Europe- The EU has taken new steps to strengthen the European Arrest
Warrant which allows one European country to publish a warrant that
applies in all signing countries. This agitated many british who are
protesting the laws use in Britain. This comes as many signing nations are now
withdrawing support for a European constitution which would turn Europe into a
confederacy of self-empowered states (Spain is expected to be the first
to renounce their membership). This could collapse the European economy
who only a few years ago switched from local currencies to Euros. This
would also mean the end of British assistance in Iraq, because they would
have to reorganize their military structure to compensate for possible European
war (Which isn't likely but could happen if the EU falls).
Chinas v. US- The US is now attempting to create a military policy
against China. With Its threat at attacking Taiwan and Hong Kong, the US
has no choice but to develop a strategy to combat the largest, most modern
military in the world (Sorry boys, the US hasn't been #1 for at least 15
years). The largest nuclear arsenal, a potent ICBM defense system, day and
night time stealth aircraft (the US's stealth tech. is only invisible
to radar, and can be seen by the human eye during the day), the largest
standing army, navy and air force in the world, a superior industrial
base, and heavily fortified coastal cities are just some of the most pressing
problems the US military will have to overcome to be able to at least
hold the Chinese at bey.
Vietnam- The Bird Flu is a fast spreading decease in vietnam. Though
few are known to have it, the disease is now known to have an extremely
long incubation period before symptoms begin to show, as much as 3 months.
This is far more deadly than SARS and could already be here in the US. More
than 200 people have been in Vietnam and then to the US in the last few
months.
More info as soon as I have it.
Editorial- Why are we in Iraq? We get little or no oil right now. It
costs us billions of dollars a year. Our citizens and soldiers are
dying in scores. and we are avoiding the true enemy. Examples? We accused Iraq
of having a nuclear weapons program (Despite there being no evidence),
meanwhile, North Korea said they had nuclear weapons, pointed them at the
US, and even launched a dummy warhead at Japan. Human rights were brought
up (Even though Iraq was being monitored by the UN), we completely
ignored the already mounting allegations of genocide in Sudan, which has
already claimed hundreds of thousands of lives.
I want to know WHY THE $!#%& ARE WE THERE!?!?!?!
That's all for today!!!
