Along with brothers Kou Yaten and Kou Seiya, Kou Taiki is a member of both the Pop Japanese group, the Three Lights, and of the Sailor Starlights (as Sailor Star Maker). If you don't already know (or haven't guessed yet), Star Maker's past lies with the awe-inspiring planet of Kinmokusei (as do the pasts of Sailor Star Fighter, Healer, and Princess Kakyuu/Fireball). Unfortunately, Kinmokusei fell victim to the evil desires of the most negative (and quite powerful) Sailor Senshi in the entire Universe, Sailor Galaxia. And try as he might, even Sailor Star Maker was no match for Galaxia's destructiveness. Once all is said and done, Star Maker and the other Starlights find that they must travel to Earth (to search for their Princess Kakyuu and the "key" to end Galaxia's tyranny). Once on Earth, Sailor Star Maker uses the name of Kou Taiki (for the obvious reason that his mission to find Kakyuu as Star Maker must be kept secret). Taiki is a transfer student to Juuban High School (Serena's/Usagi's high school) (along with Seiya and Yaten). As soon as he acquaintes himself with the school, he joins Juuban's literary club (because he loves to read, recite poems, and do intellectual things like that). Taiki is considered to be as smart (if not smarter) than Amy (or Ami) in most scholastic areas. As a member of the Three Lights, Taiki does vocals, but his "forte" (or strong point) in the group is being its guitarist (at which he is quite skilled). He also helps Seiya and Yaten with the "managing" of commercials, promotional efforts, and photo sessions. Taiki enjoys doing that, but his love lies with literature and other things that are very intellectual.
Taiki (like Yaten) has a strong disliking for the friendship that Seiya and Serena share (citing that it takes away from valuable time and energy that could be used to help them search for Princess Kakyuu). This also causes him to hate the Outer Senshi (with whom the Sailor Starlights are always at odds with anyway). While Star Maker wants to keep Star Fighter away from Eternal Sailor Moon, the Outer Senshi demand that Star Fighter stay away from Eternal Sailor Moon. (*In fact, Sailor Star Maker almost battles the Outer Senshi because of that!). The tensions between he and the Outer Senshi continue to run high; until the arrival of Princess Kakyuu.........
Once Princess Kakyuu arrives, she explains to Star Maker and all of the other Senshi how important it is for them to pool all of their resources and powers together to protect the Star Seeds and to destroy the evil Sailor Galaxia and her Animates (or Anima Mates). Sailor Star Maker becomes more positive about everything and fights witha burning sprirt. But that all changes once Princess Kakyuu is killed (thanks to Sailor Galaxia). Kakyuu sacrificed herself so that Star Maker and the other Starlights could live on! At that point, Sailor Star Maker loses the will to fight against Galaxia and the desire to protect the Star Seeds. But it is when Sailor ChibiChibi explains to him how the Inner Senshi (earlier) had sacrificed their lives to get as far as they are now (close to where Sailor Galaxia is) that hope returns to Star Maker. (*When all is said and done, Star Maker, Fighter, Healer, and Princess Kakyuu are reborn on Kinmokusei to rebuild their lives and work towards a better future).
