The Supporting Cast of SailorMoon:
The Tsukinos (Ikuko, Kenji, and Sammy/Shingo)
Molly (Naru) and Melvin (Umino)
Miss Haruna (Sakurada Haruna)
Lizzy (Furuhata Unazuki)
Helios (or Pegasus)
Grandpa Hino
Andrew (Furuhata Motoki)
Chad (Kumada Yuuchirou)
Tsukino Ikuko: She is Serena's (Usagi's) mother. She works as a housewife (and is very good at it). She is a wonderful cook (which would help to explain why Serena eats so much while she's at home ^_^). Ikuko is very serious and stern when it comes to Serena's poor grades. She only wants her daughter to do her very best (little does Ikuko know that her daughter is destined to become the future Queen of Crystal Tokyo)! Ikuko cares a lot about her children (Serena and Sammy/Shingo) and is very open to the fact that Serena is dating someone (Darien/Chiba Mamoru) that is a few years older than she is. (*Miss "Moon Princess" could've hade ME, Prince Diamond, but NOOO! o^_^o).

Tsukino Kenji: He is Serena's father. His line of work is in the area of photography (as a photographer). He can be calm and loving, but is usually caught worrying about Serena (what is wrong with her grades, what she does with her free time, all kinds of other parental worries). He is "shaky" on the subject of Serena having a boyfriend at all and is totally against the fact that his daughter is seeing someone (Darien) that is older than she is.

Sammy (Tsukino Shingo): Sammy is the annoying, stereotypical brother of Serena. He teases Serena about EVERYTHING (any chance he gets)! The teasing gets worse when Rini (Tsukino ChibiUsa) arrives; they drive Serena totally INSANE! Sammy isn't all that bad, though. Deep down, he loves his sister. Ironically enough, while Sammy thinks that Serena is a real dork, he completely idolizes Sailor Moon! Sammy really has a chance to "shine" during the Amazon Trio's reign in the SailorMoon Super S season. The episode opens up where the Senshi (as humans) decide to go down to the beach, and Sammy comes along (most in part due to his wild obsession with Amy (Mizuno Ami) and love for her). It just so also happens to be the spot that Tiger's Eye goes after his next Dream Mirror target: AMY! After a few failed attempts at getting Serena and the "gang" to follow him back to his palacial beach mansion (a fake, of course), he is finally able to trap Sammy and Amy on a mini-island (after masking as a shart and stranding the 2 on land). Sammy fights for Amy's safety, but is no match for the power that Tigers Eye possesses. After the Senshi come and save the day and wake up an unconscious Sammy, Amy holds him and thanks him for "holding back" the evil man for the Senshi to come and dispose of him.

Molly (Osaka Naru):She is one of Serena's classmates and best friends. She and Serena do EVERYTHING together (shopping, entering contests, chatting, etc.). Her mother owns a jewelry store (named "Osa-P"). In the beginning of the SailorMoon series, Molly falls in love with Nephlyte (Nephrite), one of Queen Beryl's generals. It is through her undying, truly faithful love for him that Nephlyte is able to turn good (shortly thereafter, he is killed by one of Zoisite's (Zoicyte's) henchwomen. For a little while after Nephlyte's death, Molly is very somber, keeping to herself and thinking nothing but Nephlyte. That doesn't last long, when Melvin (Gurio Umino) sees that his secret crush (now Molly) is experiencing some pain. And to cheer her up, he cooks her lunches, tries to act like the perfect gentleman, and other things like that. As of now, Molly is sharing a loving, living relationship with her new boyfriend, Melvin.

Melvin (Gurio Umino):He is your "grade A" nerd (and happens to be the biggest one in Serena's class). Melvin is very interested in things that most NORMAL people would have no desire wanting to know about (such as earthworms, the classification of insects, those sorts of things). He would constantly get on the nerves of Serena and Molly (not intentionally, though). In the beginning of the SailorMoon series, it is very obvious that Melvin has a crush on Serena. But, as time goes on, Melvin develops feelings for Molly, Serena's friend. On the outside, Melvin can be seen as an irritating, over-achieving geek with thick glasses (@_@). But, if you look hard enough, he can be seen as a very caring, brave person who is protective of his friends.

Chad (Kumada Yuuchirou): He is a guy that works at Raye's (Rei's) temple. How he got there has 2 different stories: in the Japanese version of SailorMoon, he is a bum that fell asleep on the temple steps and fell in love with Raye when she came to shoo him away; in the North American version, he is explained as an aspiring rock musician who came to the temple to overcome his stage fright. He can be considered the male "ditz" version of Serena (because of his lack of logic and incoordination). He is a very fun guy to be around, but Raye doesn't think so. He tries his hardest to impress Raye in whatever he does (whether it be training with her grandfather, or doing chores around the temple), but usually has no luck. It isn't until Raye saves Chad from one of Kaolinite's Daimon Heart Snatchers that their TRUE feelings for each other are finally realized (Raye had been hiding her love for Chad ever since he came to the temple).

Grandpa Hino: He's Raye's (Rei's) grandfather (referred to as "Grandpa" in the SM series). Because Raye's mother is dead and her father is too busy with work to spend any time with her (her father is a politician), Raye's grandfather lives with her at the Cherry Hill Temple. Grandpa is a very gentle and kind man. He is very skilled in self defense and has taught his grand-daughter everything that she knows (channeling energy, telling the future, etc.). Grandpa may be very nice, but he's also considered a "hentai" ("dirty old man" in Japanese). He can be seen (at various times) trying to charm the young ladies that come to the temple (by offering them "special" prayers, tours of the temple, and "good" wishes before they go on their way). (*He does not do all of that intentionally!). Despite all of this, Grandpa is a very loving and supportive grandfather to Raye. (* It is a well-known fact in the original SM manga that Grandpa Hino is a town-reknown HENTAI o^_^o)!!

Miss Patricia Haruna (Sakurada Haruna): She is one of Serena's middle school (junior high) teachers. She doesn't make enough of an "impact" on the SM series for anyone to truly characterize her, but there are a few things I know. She is a "high-strung" lady that takes out some of her fustrations out on her students (by yelling at them in the morning after she had a bad night). Miss Haruna takes a special liking to Serena; what I mean is that Miss Haruna is usually the adult that confronts Serena 1st about her horrible grades (and then gives her lectures, extra essays, and detentions for them). She is definetly one tough (and irritating) teacher! (* An interesting fact about Miss Haruna is that she is the character in all of SailorMoon to be targeted for the most energy (multiple times) by the illusive NegaVerse/Dark Kingdom general, Jadeite (Jedite) ^_^).

Andrew (Furuhata Motoki): He is friends with both Serena and Darien. Andrew goes to the same university as Darien (where they became good friends). He works in an arcade in the Crown Game Center (in hopes to earn enough money to go to a school to become a doctor). He's Serena's "crush" (in the beginning of the SM series). But, it isn't long before she finds out that Andrew already has a girlfriend (Rita/ Reika) (who ends up working in Africa doing scientific studies).

Lizzy (Furuhata Unazuki): She is Andrew's younger sister. Lizzy is good friends with Serena, Raye, Amy (Ami), Lita (Makoto), and Mina (Minako). She also goes to the same school that Raye goes to (Brookdale Prep School/T*A Private Girl's School). Lizzy works as a waitress in a cafe on the 2nd floor of the Game Crown Center. She doen't have much of an influence on any part of the SM series (except for maybe getting her Heart Crystal stolen by Kaolinite! ^_^).

Helios (aka Pegasus): Helios and Pegasus are the same being: Helios is the human form of the animal, Pegasus. He makes his 1st appearance in SailorMoon Super S. In that part of the SM series, Pegasus is being hunted down by the Dead Moon Circus (because Pegasus has the Golden Crystal; a crystal that is needed by the Dead Moon Circus' Queen Nephrenia for total Universal domination). For the longest time, it is only Rini (ChibiUsa) that is able to see Helios, for he only appeared in her dreams (at that time). Then, whenever Sailor ChibiMoon (Sailor MiniMoon) really needed the assistance of him in a battle, he'd appear (out of nowhere) and save the day. Helios is the protector of what is left of Earth (known as Elysium). He explains to Serena and Darien that the Dead Moon Circus has covered the Earth in so many nightmares that Elysium is the only PURE area on Earth (and it is in danger). It is Helios (Pegasus) that uses the powers of the Golden Crystal to turn the Amazon Trio into animals that will live out their lives in his Crystal Forest and the Amazoness Quartet into Guardian Senshi for Rini. (*The Amazoness Quartet only become Senshi in the SailorMoon Super S manga).
(*The land of Elysion (or Elysium) was a beautiful place created from the pure and active dreams of all the people who lived on Earth. It thrived on that ver energy; all of it's animals lived off of that sweet and pure energy. It was when the Dead Moon Circus came and span it's webs of darkness that Elysion was in peril. Darkness overcame Elysion and Helios was helpless and couldn't stop it. Queen Nehelenia (or Nephrenia) then captured Helios and held him in an ominous cage in her palace. It is when Helios spots the dream energy of Rini from a distance that he is finally able to break his spirit free from his prison and follow the light, thinking all the while that his travels will lead him to the person capable of using the opwers of the Golden Crystal. It is towards the end of the SailorMoon Super S series that Pegasus confesses that Rini isn't the one who can handle the Golden Crystal's power. This troubles Rini deeply, because of her deep devotion and love for Pegasus ). |
