This is just a sneak Preview of Office XP, (I have tested XP so this is not just a bunch of fluff and at the bottom I will also list my sources). “Office XP is still Eons ahead of any of its competition.” (Cnet)

Note* If you think that you can get Office XP from your next door neighbor or friends think again, with the new Microsoft Product Activation, that product is sealed to you only, and can not be used again on another computer. Here’s how it works, you put your special Product ID during the installation and afterwards when you start up an Office application it will bring up an Product Activation which means that you have to register through Microsoft’s Servers (or the product will not be any good) and they will generate a unique ID for your Product Key and store it on their Servers so if anyone else tries to use the Product Key again it will not be any good. It also images your computer for hardware so if you have to reinstall it then its no problem only on your machine, if you make a significant upgrade then you would have to call Microsoft to reverify your computer and license. So don’t waste time in trying to install your friends copy because it’s not going to work period.

Backword compatibility issues: Microsoft XP will still see 2000 documents and 97, 95 but if you do things like databasing it will only recognize 2000.

System Requirements: Microsoft Recommends at least a Pentium 3 processor machine or equivalent (AMD Duron) (Athlon will be the way to go) 128MB of RAM (8MB of RAM for each Office Application). I will recommend since RAM is so cheap these days at least 256MB of RAM.

Introduction
Well as you know the key to Office XP and Windows XP is the task pane and also the smart tags that is involve so what is a task pane it is a column inside XP where everything you need in Windows or Office is at one place. (Isn’t that cool). Before in every other Windows and Office you basically had to do all the thinking well not anymore, XP will not only think for you but can also do things automatically. Smart tags will bring you the ideas, it is context-sensitive and provides a speedy access to relevant information by alerting you to important actions such as formatting options for pasted information, formula and blah blah blah. This is the best feature of XP and is definitely worth buying and worth the money.

Word 2002
Word 2002 again comes with the new document task pane where again provides instant and easy access to recent files, built-in templates, corporate templates, and even web-based templates. Microsoft the software people is bringing you the technology that you have deserved for a long time and I think we should give them a round of applause. Word 2002 also comes with Person Smart tag which means that if you put in a person’s name and automate common activities such as adding an address, Word 2002 will again give you a smart tag and give you the ideas rather than you searching for it. Word 2002 also gives you a search task pane where not can you search for documents in your hardrive but also on the network, web pages, Outlook and even databases.

Excel 2002
Excel 2002 is a tool made for professionals to manage critical business data, and everyday users the power to get the most out of their information. Excel 2002 comes with Formula Smart Tag, to help you identify common equation errors and help fix them for you. Autofill smart tag, which gives you the flexibility to easily do the copying and the formatting or continuing a formula series. Refreshable Web Query; this thing is cool it lets you set up a refreshable query which links your spreadsheet with a live web page. It also comes with a Paste Options Smart Tag which keep the formatting or match the formatting of the new documents which means no more paste specials.

Visio 2002
Wow! This is something really cool. Microsoft’s Visio 2002 is a tool that brings the power of clear, visual communication to your everyday work, it includes things like drawing diagrams for your documents rather than going to Power Point..

PowerPoint 2002
PowerPoint 2002 brings all of 2000 plus so much more. It lets you create attention-grabbing slides quickly, and collaborate with team members on your presentation, and here’s what really cool it lets them share them live or online. It also comes with a Slide Design Task Pane which again puts everything you need in one place which helps you to make changing a slide layouts a snap. Also Slide Animation, which makes it easy to use new animations, and Print Preview, which lets you, see exactly what you are going to print-black and white or color.

Outlook 2002
The new Outlook 2002 lets you improve not only your production but improve your team collaboration. It includes, Instant Messaging, Propose New Time to arrange meetings, Send for Review, Color Appointments, Internet Free-Busy, Group Schedules and Reminder Windows.

With all this what can you go wrong, and I still haven’t mentioned all that is including with Office XP like FrontPage, SharePoint and things like that, but I will in the future updates.
