Are you ready to face the elements, to play a winter sport with your dog? These guidelines will help prepare your dog for sports action.

- Get your dog a vet check up. Make sure your dog is declared free of hip or elbow displasia and arthritis.

- Check your pet's weight. If you cannot easily feel the dog's ribs, your pet should loose weight before participating in a sport.

- Feed your dog extra protein diets as recomended by tour veterinarian. Since working dogs burn fat as energy, they require more protein to prevent injury. Your dog needs a premium high protein and fat performance diet while working.

- Start your dog out slowly. Just like a human, your dog can injure itself if you push it too hard. Begin with long walks and playtime with other dogs.

By following these guidelines, your dog should be well on its way to becoming winter sports champion.
