The Cleveland Bay horse is considered the oldest of all the Brittish horse breeds. This breed was developed in northeast England where it was used for everything form agricultural work to hunting. In the nineteenth century this horse became popular as a carriage horse because of its good looks and tractable nature. The Cleveland bay excels today as a carriage horse and is sucessful in driving competitions.
