This Site continue to be updated with the latest news on ANGELAS ASHES.
During the week commencing Monday 19th October, 1998 Limerick city in the Republic of Ireland was all agog with excitement as the film crew of Angelas Ashes began their work in earnest. A few hundred local people from all walks of life threw their lot in with the crew and and began to live a charmed life in the never never land of make believe. While inside the barriers of a recreated Limerick of the '40s life took on a veneer of the society that inhabited at that time : The Franciscan monk in his obligatory stockingless feet and sandals; the devout/pious Sister of Mercy dressed in her reclusive habit;the Protestant Merchant Ascendancy, witness the bowler hats; horses drawn carriages delivering coal from house to house; the line of children led by their teachers past the O'Connell Monument in the Upperclass Crescent. The Crescent was home to The Crescent College(not school)where the Catholic merchants sent their sons in preparation to take over the family business.
