Hi Everybody:
I didnt follow the market much while I was on vacation last week. Looks like there were some positive signs like the Short-Term A/Ds and the increasing volume each day on the Naz Composite. However, the SP Small Cap 600 had decreasing volume each day. The generally larger cap NYSE closed at record levels
but it appears to be overbought and I would expect a pullback later in the week or next week.
I believe the 2180s are a critical resistance level for the Naz. The Bullish Percent Index appeared pretty bad on the Naz 2 weeks ago
but this week it bounced off the 50dma which was positive. A move below would lead me to believe that we could see sub 2100 on the Naz before the end of September.
The PPI will be announced Tuesday and the CPI on Thursday
both pre-market. Also, dont forget that Friday is Quadruple Witching Day
so expect volatility.
August SSS was fairly decent
see below, but Auto/Truck sales seem to have topped out on the price incentives
at least for US automakers.
Im Short-Term neutral at this point. Will wait to see if the Naz can break thru the upper Bollinger Band at 2178 and see what happens in the 2180s resistance area. Closing Ticks were all positive on the 3 major indices everyday last week. Friday was especially good.
For the week, the Dow Super Sectors were 10 up 0 down.
Top DJ Groups were Water +7.31% Platinum/Precious Metals +5.89% Coal +5.47%.
Worst Groups were Trucking -2.22% Transportation Services -1.86% Specialized Consumer Svcs -1.66%
A/D/U Issues for the week:
Nasdaq 2070/1169/103
NYSE 2465/1022/88
AMEX 742/349/59
The DJIA A/D/U was 26/4/0. The DJ Composite was 45/20/0 and the Major DJ Groups were 89/11/0.
The IIC 100 and Undiscovered Gems lists are updated for September. See the TOC over to the right.
