Happy Fathers Day Everyone:
Guess I was wrong last Sunday about speculating that we would see some downside, although not heavy, last week. All the Major Indices were green.
It was nice to see the Naz Short-Term Up/Dn Volume Moving Average bounce on Thursday rather than go negative. Im seeing a lot of mixed signals on the Naz and NYSE. One interesting thing to note is that the Advance/Decline Issues were red on the Naz on Friday after being positive the first 4 days of the week. The NYSE was green on the A/D all week.
The Naz needs to bust through 2110-2120 on volume
I dont see that happening this week. The NYSE looks somewhat overbought. The bad news for Boeing could affect the DJIA negatively on Monday (see This N That below). Id prefer to see the Naz stay in a range of 2080-2110 for the week on low volume. But both the Naz and NYSE charts look pretty good. We have to discount Fridays volume though since it was Quadruple Witching. I will remain neutral for now
Although if I was forced to choose Id lean towards slightly short term bullish.
For the week, the Dow Super Sectors were 10 up 0 down led by Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Healthcare.
Top DJ Groups were Platinum/Precious Metals +13.96% Home Construction +8.89% Non-Ferrous Metals +8.20%. The worst were Airlines -3.41% Tobacco -2.87% Brewers -2.05%.
A/D/U Issues for the week:
Nasdaq 2123/1177/71
NYSE 2600/898/81
AMEX 724/345/59
The NH/NL figures for all three of the above were positive AGAIN which I like to see.
The DJIA A/D/U was 21/9/0 , DJ Composite was 45/20/0 and the Major DJ Groups were 87/13/0
