Happy Valentine's Day Everyone:
Mixed week as all the DJ Major Indices, the NYSE Composite, S&P 500 and the SP&P MC 400 were up. But the S&P SC 600, Naz Composite and Russel 2000 were down.
The DJIA and the NYSE Comp. are now in positive territory for the year. But all the major Naz Indices are still in the red including
Comp., 100, Industrials, Insurance, Banks, Computer, Telecom, and the NNMs. Over the past 52 weeks the DJIA, Naz Comp. and the S&P 500 are all up less that 2%. The Advance/Decline issues for the week were 19/15 on the NYSE and 14/20 on the Naz.
HPQ shares gapped some on Wednesday with Carlys ouster
but after a less than flattering article in Barrons this weekend and EPS scheduled for Wednesday, it should be a bumpy ride.
Good news for the SOX(Semi Index)
It has now gained back all of the January decline. But the DJ Internet Index is off almost 14% Y-T-D.
I suggest using extra caution this week as I see mixed technical signals on the Naz. The next resistance level is at the 2105-2110 range and first level support is about 2070. But I was watching the market movers during the first hour or so on Wed, Thu and Fri
it was pretty scary.
I added some charts if youd like to take a look(Click Charts and Graphs over to the left in the TOC)
