Weekend Report
December 26, 2004

Hi Everybody:

Hope everyone had a nice holiday. The Major Indices continued their year-end rally as the Dow Industrials, Dow Composite and SP 500 hit 3 year highs. The DJ Composite saw 55 up and 10 down this past week.

After hours on Thursday TIBX and UBET were up nicely on volume.

Oil reversed downward which probably helped boost the markets. There are no major announcements planned this coming week. None of the majors will be announcing earnings and although the Short Interest reports for December will come out, this usually does not have any huge, immediate effect. I will report the Naz Short Interest next Sunday.

Around the stock groups, forums and chatrooms there seems to be some confusion as to the market hours on 12/31/04. I called the Secretary of the NYSE Board of Directors last week and was told that the market would be business as usual, normal hours on New Year's Eve Day.

The stocks listed below are not recommendations. They are simply securities that meet particular criteria. If you find any of interest, you should do your own research.

***Russian telecommunications operator ZAO Sky Link said Friday that it's close to signing a deal with Qualcomm Inc. (QCOM) to buy its Brew platform.

Raisa Rozinova, chief executive of Sky Link, said that the content part of the Brew platform will be launched by Sky Link network in early 2005.

Brew is a platform for wireless operators offering content, video, information and other services via mobile phones and compact computers.

"We are currently in talks with Qualcomm over the price we will have to pay for Brew," she said.

Rozinova said that there is a very limited number of content providers in Russia, but she hopes that as Sky Link increases its network, more Russian content providers will emerge.

Sky Link receives 10% of its revenue from mobile Internet in its richest market of Moscow. According to the company's most conservative forecasts, the revenue share of content will be over 15% by 2009 in all of Russia, considering that the users in the regions provide lower revenues.

Sky Link is co-owned by AFK Sistema (AFK.YY) and OAO Telecominvest (TCIV.YY).

***Middleby Corp. (MIDD) bought back 1.8 million shares and 271,000 stock options from Chairman William F. Whitman, who, along with two members of his family and another individual, stepped down from the company's board.

The shares, were repurchased from Whitman, members of his family and family trusts. The shares that were bought back represent about 19.6% of the company's 9.3 million outstanding shares. The shares were repurchased at a discount of 12.8% from Thursday's closing stock price.

The buyback is expected to reduce the company's public float to 7.4 million shares, and the transaction is expected to add to 2005 earnings per share.

Analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call expect the company to post 2005 earnings of .19 a share, compared with a 2003 profit of .99 a share.

In a press release Thursday, Middleby said Whitman will turn 65 in February. He will be replaced as chairman by Selim A. Bassoul, the company's current president and chief executive. Additionally, Bassoul has just inked a new seven-year contract to serve as chairman, president and chief executive.
