I waited on the farry. I wanted to be the Master Gym Leader but I didn't want to leave the group. Sean and Clara had become my friends over the last month and change and I didn't want to leave so soon.
Although I did want to become a gym leader. I wanted to someday join the Eliet Four and becoming a gym leader was a big step in the right direction.
"Hey loser. Where's Sean" From a guy behind me.
I turned around.
"Oh. Hi John. Sean's in deck." In said.
"Are you guys going there so Sean can get a badge?"
"... partly." I finaly said.
"Ha! I already got 8 badges. I'm going there for it's casino's."
"That's nice. Can you leave now?"
"No! I'm going to battle you. 2 on 2."
"Fine. If I win you have to leave me alone. Starmie go!"
"Venasaur out!"
Starmie tackled Venasaur. Venasaur fainted.
"Ups. Forgot Venasaur was poisened. Fearow go!" John said.
Starmie did water gun and beat Fearow.
"You suck." I said, "Now leave."
"Fine! But I'll beat you someday."
He left. Shortly after that we docked.
I meet up with Sean and Clara.
"It's late. Let's set up camp and I'll fight the two gym leaders tomorrow." Sean said.
"Okay I just have to do some work first." I said and left before they could ask me what.
I walked up to the gym and walked inside. The intire time a part of me was saying, Go back! You could always changle another gym leader some other time!
But I knew that this was the gym and this was the time. How did I know? Instincted.
"Hello. I am Tom, the gym leader. Are you here to changle me for a badge?" Tom said.
"For your gym." I corrected him.
He laughed. "You need 18 badges to do that."
I showed my 18 badges and he stopped laughing. "Fine. I know I have to accept this match. I know it's a 3 on 3 with the gym's type only. Which is all types. I know if I loss you get the gym. Let's begin. Magmar go!"
"Starmie go!" I said.
Starmie did watergun and Magmar was weakened but not deafeted. Magmar did tackle attack and then fury swipes. Starmie endored the attacks using bide then unleashed twice the damange it had reseved from the attacks. Magmar fell down and strungled to get up. Starmie did water gun to make sure it wouldn't get up. Magmar had fainted.
I looked at Tom as he re-called his Pokemon. He looked worried. After he got this far he might be deafeted. I knew when I was the gym leader I wouldn't be deafeted. Same when I was an Eliet Four member.
"Vilplume out!" Tom said looking at the crowed that was growing. People realized what this was.
What else could it be. Gym Leaders were never nervous about a regular Pokemon battle. And they never used there best Pokemon either. It was obivous to them that one of us would be the gym leader. And they wanted to see how.
Vilplume did vine-wip. Starmie dodged the attack and unleashed a water gun. Vilplume wasn't badly hurt by it because he was a grass Pokemon but the pressure did make Vilplume loss his footing. Starmie used this opertuatiny to do fissure. It hit and Vilplume was deafeted.
"Do you want to spare yourself the enbrassment of lossing in front of this large crowd?" I asked.
He looked at the crowd that now filled his gym. Soon to be MY gym.
"What do you have in mind?" Tom asked.
"I forfit and you retire giving custaty of the gym over to me."
"No. I still have one more Pokemon, Electrobuzz go!"
Starmie did tackle but Electrobuzz was well rested and Starmie wasn't. Electrobuzz did thunder and Starmie fainted.
It didn't matter though. My Dugtrio would easly beat that Electrobuzz.
I threw out Dugtrio and told him to do dig. Electrobuzz dodged it and did thunder. Thunder, of course, wouldn't hurt Dugtrio. Dugtrio did earthquack and Electrobuzz was badly hurt. Dugtrio finished him off with a tackle and I had won the battle.
I was shocked at first. I never thought I acully could win. Now I was a gym leader but that ment I would have to say in Celdon and abadon my friends.
But that was just motentom to go to the next level. An Eliet Four member. They could go where ever they please. And I would become an Eliet Four member someday.

We marched to Erika's gym. Clara and me. For some reason Derk didn't meet us at the Pokemon Center or at camp. We figured that he was busy and after I got the two badges from these gyms I would meet up with him.
The first of the two gyms was Erikas. I wished Derk was there to give me some pointers.
"Anything I should know?" I asked Clara.
"She uses Grass Pokemon so don't use Squirtle, Sandrew, Graveller, or Dugtrio."
"Great! That means I only have Caterpie, Pidgeotto and Ratatta to work with. Guess I need some new Pokemon."
"I wouldn't worry. She only has three Pokemon now-a-days. Vilplume, Victribell and Tangala. But because of this thoose Pokemon are top notch."
"Okay so a 3 on 3? Well hopefuly I can pull it off." I said and we walked in.
As we entered the gym I saw a disappointed person leave.
"Hello is this Erika?" I asked.
"No. I'm Rachel. You have to beat me before you can face Erika. 2 on 2. Were only allowed to use Rock in this battle." Rachel informed me.
"Rock? I thought ... never mind. Graveller go!"
"Geodude go!"
Graveller used tackle then rock slide and Geodude fainted.
"Good. Let's see how you do against something harder. Golem go!" Rachel said.
I knew a Graveller couldn't win against it's evaluded form so I told it to hurt Golem as much as it could before it fainted. Graveller used quick attack after quick attack but soon fainted.
However it had done it's job. Golem was barely conses.
"Dugtrio go! Use dig." I ordered.
Dugtrio did what I said and it fainted Golem.
"Very good. You may procced to Erika." Rachel said.
I nodded and went down the hall to a garden were Erika was.
"Oh hello. Are you here to changle me?" Erika asked.
"Yes."
"Okay. Well have a two on two. Vilplume come out." Erika said.
From inside the garden a Vilplume came.
"Pidgeotto go!" I ordered.
Pidgeotto did fly and Vilplume was hurt.
"Vilplume get in the sun." Erika said.
Whall Vilplume was collecting sun light Pidgeotto did a gust attack. Vilplume unleashed the solar beam but Pidgeotto easly dodged it. Vilplume began to use razor leaf. And Pidgeotto was having a hard time dodging it.
"Pidgeotto pull up and use gust attack." I said.
Pidgeotto did just that and Vilplume know was looking weak. Pidgeotto did quick attack and beat Vilplume.
"Vilplume return. Victribell out and catch that Pidgeotto with a vine whip." Erika said.
Victribell did that with success.
"Pidgeotto? Use peck to get out of the vines." I instructed.
Pidgeotto did that but Victribell didn't let go. Pidgeotto then used fissure. With Victriball attached to it Victribell fainted and Pidgeotto got out of the vines.
"Good job Pidgeotto." I said and put him back in his pokeball.
"Here is your badge." Erika said.
Now had 4 badges! I would soon, though, have 5. I was going to go to the other gym in Celdon right after I healed my Pokemon. And I was sure that I was going to win there too.

I walked into the gym. The gym leader was hidden in the shadows.
"I'm here for a badge." I said.

Sean and Clara walked in as I knew they would.
"I'm here for a badge." Sean said and I stepped out of the shadows.

I was shocked at who it was.
"Derk?" I asked.
"Yes Sean. I'm the new gym leader. Did you beat Erika?" Derk said.
"Yes."
"Then you know we have to battle for your badge. Right?"
I had battled Derk before and always loss. How could I expect to win now?
"Yah I know." I said after a brief delay.
"Then it's a five on five." Derk said.

I waited for him to say okay. He didn't. I guess he was still in too much shock.
"Well lets get things started. Beedrill go!" I said.
"Squirtle go!" Sean said.
Beedrill tryed to poisen sting Squirtle but Squirtle dodged it by going in his shell.
"Squirtle tackle attack!" Sean said.
"Beedrill confusion!" I ordered.

Squirtle's tackle missed and Beedrill won by using confusoin.
I was lossing to him again! But this time it was different. This time I would win!
I kept saying that to myself but my fear didn't subside. Come-on! I thought to myself, remeber when you beet the Pikagod? If you did that you can win this battle.
"Graveller go!" I yelled.

Sean selected a Graveller to match up against my Beedrill. No one else would have done a move like that. But because Sean and me have been travelling together for awhile he new that his Graveller was experienced enough to easly defeat Beedrill. Porhaps he would win this battle.
But why did I care? Ether why I was to stay here and he was to leave. But this battle still ment something be-onned his longing for a badge or mine to be a great gym leader. It was are last battle with eachother. The final face-off. This battle would be the one we would tell are children about win or loose. This battle would go in the hidden recourd
books. One of us would be hi on tirumth. Unfortunately only one of us could win this battle.

Graveller did tackle just like I told it and Beedrill was in woe. Barely flying it tryed a poison sting attack unsuccessfuly. My Graveller then did a sismic toss and Beedrill fainted.
I felt relieved. I didn't care about the badge anymore though. I cared about the one last battle with a friend I figured I would never see again. A friend that helped me though the first couple of hard matches and taught me almost everything I know about Pokemon training.
How could I be a great trainer without him? Even if I could beet the gym leaders the Pokemon League would be a whole different story. I would need win as a advicer and a coach then. I would also need a best friend.

I was now running on the passion of victory. I had but one Pokemon that could easly beat the Graveller. Starmie.
"Starmie go!"

Starmie and Graveller were about to face off when to people walked in the Areana and threw there Pokeballs. A Geodude and a Oddish came out. I looked to see who it was. So did Derk. It was Mark and Erika!
They were interupting the most important battle of my life! They would pay.
"Graveller attack Geodude!" I ordered.
"Starmie tackle Oddish." Derk annocced.

The teantion was relieved from me when Erika and Mark came in. But not for long.
"Hand over your Pokemon or you all die by Arbok's poisen sting! Arbok out!" Erika said.
Arbok came out but only as back up.
Starmie had all but knocked out Oddish. It went for one last tackle attack but missed. Oddish, desperate to stop Starmie elvoved into Gloom.
"Great Gloom!" Mark said.
Gloom knocked out Starmie.
"Starmie return. Primate go!" I yelled.
"Magmar, Drowzee out!" Clara said talking for the first time in what seemed ages.
Together Magmar, Drowzee, Primate and Graveller beat Gloom and Geodude. It happened so fast that I'm afraid that's all I can tell you.

"Hand us your Pokemon!" Mark said.
"Never." Derk said commly in a matter-of-fact way.
"Then we attack with Arbok." Erika said matching Derk's tone.
"In an inclosed area like this one his speed won't make a difference. So it would be all of our Pokemon vs. Arbok? Even for that Arbok the odds are against him." I pointed out.
"You don't sound to confiddent about that." Mark said
"You don't sound confiddent about Arboks chances either."
"Maybe so. Why don't we strike a deal."
"No." I said.
"What." Derk said.
I glared at Derk. We wouldn't nogitate with the enemy.
He gave me a 'I know what I'm doing look' and faced Mark and Erika again.

I had a plan. It was a simple plan but it would work.
"Go on." I pressed.
"Hu? Oh, well how about we settle for Drowzee today and fight another day."
"No!" Clara said, "I won't give up Drowzee."
"We caught you in mid-battle, remeber? Not all of your Pokemon are fighting fit." Erika pointed out.
"We still have enough to beat Arbok." Sean said.
"Want to find out?" Erika asked.
"Sure."
"No!" I said. Everyone stared at me, "Instend of Drowzee how would you feel about a Sperow?"
I hoped that would get them back in the mood to nigotate. It didn't.
"Give us all your Pokemon." Mark said.
I had to stall them for another minute or so.
"Can we talk about it in private for a minute?" I asked.
"Hu? I mean fine." They couldn't believe that we were thinking about handing them in.
I slowly walked up to my friends and a lot of police officers holding guns came into the room.
"Mark and Erika freeze. Leave now and you wouldn't be arrested, acutualy." One of the officers said. They left.

Derk walked up to me and handed me a badge.
"Here. You will need this to get into the Pokemon League." He said.
"But what about the battle?" I asked.
"I think it's better if we leave this one undecided." Derk said. I took the badge.
"What am I going to do when the Pokemon League comes along? I need you as a coach and a friend." I told Derk.
He thought about that for a minute then responded, "I amagine by then I'd be in the Eliet Four. It's in a little less then 2 years right? When you get the other two badges you need come here and I'll help you train too."
"So I guess I'll see you when I got two more badges then." I said.
"Yep," He began then wispered the rest in my ear, "And I wouldn't mind if you bring Clara too."
I laughed.
"What?" Clara asked.
"Nothing. Let's head out. The sooner we leave the sooner we can come back." I said and we walked out of Celdon were a friend would wait for me.
I was having fun being a trainer but I still didn't want to leave a friend behind. Even if that was his choice.

This ends "Grass and Derk" go to "The bike path" for stories 23-25.
