The ranking system as followed by our stylists are as follows:- As trained orignally under Great Grand Master Yue and Lama Master Toon, the concept of belts as opposed to sash never occured because they dont have belt systems or sashs in a family system.The belt system was made after decision between Grand master Yue and Master Tiger and also because if you are already a real martial arts practitioner who understands then one would see, Korean stylists use both sash and belts , as belts in Taekwondo and sash's in Kuk sool won or hapkido, they also have a inbetween sash-belt.Indonesian Silat uses belt and sash both.All Burmese systems use Belts and due to GrandMaster Tigers Burmese roots and GrandMaster Yue's personal connection with various arts the belt was induced in the curriculum.GrandMaster Yue himself wore a tattered and faded red sash-belt go between for as many years one can know. Originally when Master Tiger trained , he used only a single white belt with stripes to indicate rank and years trained and went directly to black and then directly to red belt.Family systems use no ranks except knowing who is of what standard. Master Tiger , reviews and uses what he feels is best for our way:- an optional rank system used my master tiger is as follows :- ALSO ANOTHER VERSION AS ORIGINAL SHAN FU JOW LEARNT BY MASTER TIGER AND IS CONSIDERED THE ORIGINAL WAY ;- WHITE BELT - NO STRIPES TO DENOTE ANYTHING BLACK BELT - NO STRIPES RED BELT - NO STRIPES WHITE & GOLD - NO STRIPES The difference is in the matter script written on the belt itself.The belt may mention the level of expertise by a name or rank and thats all.Knowledge really can have no belt but for the sake of class advancement it is introduced.Each stage passed is known between the master and the student and thats the way master tiger would like to keep it but for non -Asians this idea is very difficult and seems to be catching on. This is used by my school and few of our brothers and we find this useful for keeping student rank WHITE BELT - YELLOW BELT- GRAY BELT - BROWN BELT - BLACK BELT - THE BELOW BELTS AND RANK ONLY AT THE SOLE DISCRETION OF GRANDMASTER TIGER BLACK BELT IS FROM 1 THRU 4 BLACK BELT OF 5 ELEMENTS- BLACK& RED 5 ELEMENTS JOW [6TH LEVEL] RED BELT - Is considered the Masters Instructor level AFTER THE RED BELT IS ATTAINED ONE FOLLOWS THE BELOW PROCESS RED BELT HAS CERTAIN STEPS OF HIGHLY ADVANCED SPIRITUAL TRAINING WHICH IS IN 8 STEPS KNOWN AS "PA FANG FA " EACH STEP DENOTES A SPIRITUAL LEVEL OF AWARENESS WHICH CULMINATES IN 8TH DEGREE RED BELT WITH GOLD SCRIPT AND A SPECIAL SYMBOL , WHICH SIGNIFIES THE WEARER AS THE ASSIMILATOR/GUIDE FOR ALL 8 SCHOOLS OF KNOWLEDGE CONTAINED WITHIN OUR SYSTEM. THE WHITE & GOLD BELT IS SACRED AND SUPERIOR BUT THIS REFLECTS ONLY THE STATE OF MIND REALLY! THE YEARS REQUIRED FOR EACH LEVEL OF BELT OR STATE OF KNOWLEDGE IS AS FOLLOWS :- Ranking is held every year but , our system demands challenge to knowledge exams also!. Each rank or level is given only after satisfying certain requirements and if none fails he can take as much time to pass the tests.No one is allowed to upgrade without demonstrating the requirements as this ensures quality knowledge.There is no rank given on seniority as done in many Japanese or Korean arts!.You show and demonstrate knowledge and earn your belts the very hard way always . Each level has got a KUEN and footwork and hand forms , hits & strikes. After the black belt is earned one may start developing the special systems one after the other like - iron hand , iron palms,iron legs , light body , occult body & occultic hands , spiritual hands , burning hands these are the levels earned in black to red and are of 8 steps PA FANG FA.Sometimes , an advanced student can take up a stage after deep discussion with Master Tiger or their teachers with permission from the Grandmaster and devote 3 - 4 years in such level or ranks Master Tiger is a genuine lover of arts and forms and is also one of the very few martial artists who has such profound knowledge in lesser known arts and is certified & licensed to teach such - RUN WALL TECHNIQUES , LIGHT BODY KUNGFU , ANCIENT CHINESE TAOIST ARTS OF PA TUAN CHIN , YINJINJING , YUE FAMILY SOFT FORM LIKE TAI CHI , SPECIAL MEDICINES . Many students have in fact taken up special individual systems and are training in such. |
