Please read every question & pertinant answers on this page and still if you feel we have over looked or not answered an important question may kindly email us or the GrandMaster.Please note , we recieve many emails everyday asking us the same questions and neither we nor Grandmaster has time for such! REPRODUCED BELOW ARE ACTUAL QUESTIONS EMAILED & SUBMITTED BY ACTUAL MARTIAL ARTISTS TO GRANDMASTER TIGER AND ANSWERED BY HIM PERSONALLY MOST OF THE TIME. Q1. what is Shan Fu Jow? Ans. Its an peculiar private family system of chinese martial arts developed by GreatGrandMaster Yue of China and later has evolved under Grand-Master Tiger , Grandmaster Yue's adopted son Q2. What does it mean in Chinese? Ans. It means Mountain Tiger Claw/Fists. Shan- Mountain referring here to T'shan Range of Burma China border[Shan],Fu- Tiger & also spirit,Jow- claw/fists Q3.Why does everything have to be Chinese and always Oriental?[Thomas , New Jersey] Ans...lol..Not everything but such arts which have a basis in Asian communities, besides much in the art was absorbed from other cultures and communities excluding China as well~!Martial arts was a particular development of the Oriental world and so the background.IS BURMESE- TIBETAN DESCENT. Q4.Why all this secrecy and mysticism? i really dont like it[ Jim , Brisbane] Ans.Wonderful! what you dont know is secret , what is not known yet is mysticism:-), what you dont like, is your own headache! Q5.I want to learn Shan Fu Jow but , can not seem to find a proper master or a teacher?[Ireland] Ans. Shan fu Jow can not be taught or learnt from anyone except a graded licenced instructor under GrandMaster Tiger himself or by one of his elected represantatives trained under him.For details kindly email to be guided and PLEASE NOTE! Dont learn under anyone without proper verifications from MasterTiger! Q6.I have heard of someone teaching Shan Fu Jow in private , can i learn from him/her?[London] Ans. Sure! Please ask to be shown the Licence issued and kindly email us back with the persons name or his instructors name. Q7.I practice Chinese kungfu and wish to learn more , can i learn under your system? Ans.We suggest you continue your present training and if Divine has chosen you to train in our art it shall be so. Q8.I am practicing chinese kungfu for last 15 years and i have never heard the styles name.i wonder why?[Sam, USA] Ans. Same reason , we have been involved in chinese, japanese & world martial arts for last 30 years and have never heard your name or your instructors:-).In order for a style,system or name to be known means media and publicity as done by all so called leading masters.We dont involve ourselves in such qualms but bieng a private family style keep to ourselfs.In South Asian community , the name and system of our family is rather well revered then known.There are well over some 450 odd styles practiced in the USA alone and yet , there remains many more number of private or family styles never revealed before to the general public nor shall be.Our art is totally a private family affair and we do not like media attentions.We dont expect outsiders to have so much knowledge of all the arts practiced unless he/she is very deeply knowledgable or well read. Q9.I am a ex karateka but wish to learn , can i? Ans.Wonderful! It doesnt matter whatever your background was or is!.You are more then welcome to join us and study under us irrespective of any backgrounds.You would be reuested to let go of your former training just in order to absorb a lot of new things but, this does not imply you let go of your ex teacher,principles or artform.Learning under the Shan Fu Jow Master shall enhance you deeply even as a karateka. Q10. What are you fees like?[Canada] Ans.? Fees for what? :-) , you dont seem to understand the most important basic concept Sir!.Shan fu jow is an "FAMILY ART" we dont teach nor share anything for any amount of money.None of the aspects of our art can be learnt by you or anyone for no amount of money.We have heard people selling off and trading bits and pieces of information contained within our system too and they have a big business running. We can accept donations made with a joyous heart with reciprocal attitude. Q11.Dont you charge a single penny? anything hidden or secretive i should know?[Canada] Ans. Reality is , no amount of money can give you the knowledge which is been shared to us by the GrandMaster, his Mentor & Adopted Father, the Great GrandMaster Yue or his own parents and teachers.It is quite obvious if someone has to run an organization some finances are needed.This is motsly met by Masters own income and some of which are donated by the members out of love and unity of a family.You may share or donate according to your own limits for the sake or printed matters , certificates , belts & dresses or travel fares , that is all the hidden penny! Q12.Is GrandMaster Tiger a Mainland Chinese?[ Chen , Taiwan] Ans.No GrandMaster Tiger is not at all a Chinese !Kindly refer to style lineage master chapter. Q13.How can i be accepted as a student? can i just fill up your forms and enter? Ans. Very good question!,You can only be accepted when you clear GrandMasters interview with you personally.Our process is very different then any other system or known style NOTE"The stylists with Tibetan Kungfu background follows a similar route". The most important point to be stressed is , since this is our family system , we have the privilage of deciding who shall be our family member and who shall be turned away.Only GrandMaster decides this globally.You may train under any Shan Fu Jow Master but each shall refer your case to the present Grandmaster. Q14. what is the interview like? how is it conducted?[ Srdan , Canada] Ans.It is conducted in a very informal manner and like a normal chat discussion.At times more then one people may be interviewed.Its a question answer session and this hlps the GrandMaster percieve who can become family for us.Questions asked range from , personal history, background of criminal records [kindly provide documented proof], identity, why do you wish to learn our art? why do you wish to learn any martial arts, any existing revengful criterions,some special astrological analysis,getting you know you and your deeper hidden thoughts which can only be decided and known by a Shan Fu Jow practitioner at advanced levels beyond a mere master. Q15.what happens after the interview? Ans.If you are given positive signs then , you start with whatever advice has been given to you by the Grandmaster for you to develop yourself till the time you are ready to start learning under us depending on where you are in the planet.The training consists of many phases but in few words " first you asses yourself physically & mentally and then each step follows naturally".You remain on a probationary basis and for us , every outsider/new student/student from another background remains a student untill the day he proves himself/herself to be worthy of recieving the family knowledge & tradition and then he starts his real learning Q16.Why is it so strict? Ans. It is not strict as you call this , but we understand this to be "APT". Who needs students or people to come in our own house and cause us much harrasments and trouble? Our need is in only for those who are in need of something which can lead them beyond mere mortal limits.Our art is very restricted hence.One may learn the aspects of Shan Fu Jow physical combat methods and training but , No one shall teach nor share the esoteric principles of the advanced or higher levels.GrandMaster Tiger trained well over 3000 young students at the physical level but out of these 3000 students only 5 till date have recieved their advanced ranks & licence as instructors.We dont need curious dabblers , every genuine teacher dislikes them! Q17. Who is a real student? Ans. The one who comes to be with not be without! a real student comes with a sense of pride in learning and doing something precious.In becoming a part of a sacred tradition and knowledge.In spirit of enquiry to judge the human soul.Someone who trains for the love of expanding and sharing good things to all.Self aware , critical of one developments and someone who can feel and understand the depths of the love provided by a real master and teacher as a father or elder! Q18.What kind of sash's do you wear? Ans. We dont wear sash's at all! maybe you do not know that many original chinese stylists dont wear sash's but belts which is considered more chinese & global then japanese as depicted.Our system bieng in roots from Burma , Indonesia and China , all home for stylists wearing either belts or sash's.Indonesian Silat practitioners wear belts , Chinese kung fu stylists of Jow ga [ Chow Ka] wear belts and most Burmese martial arts use belts. Q19.How many belts are there in Shan Fu Jow? Ans. According to the original tradition , their was no belts or ranks except as and when decided by the master.For the sake of providing students with uniformity Grandmaster Tiger arranged the belts as :- white, yellow, gray, brown, black leading upto several levels or maybe a simple white belt with level stripes till black belt. Q20. What is the normal time period to learn Shan Fu Jow? Ans. The given time frame is developed scientifically by Master Tiger and in actual training it is about 3-5 years.One may take more but less time is dependant on a challenge examination as per Shan Fu Jow tradition. Q21.Who are the 5 masters trained under Grandmaster tiger? where can they be found? Ans.They represant mostly the batch of 1989 and they are as follows:Kindly refer REGISTER OF INSTRUCTORS PAGE. Q22. I live very far away from any Shan Fu Jow masters, i am dead serious but then how will i ever train?[ Great Britain] Ans.Very important question emailed to us,Dear Friend- Time and distnace has no apparent meaning for a Shan Fu Jow master and if you decide this is for you then kindly proceed in the following manner.First write an detailed email to us with your current photograph. Grandmaster shall formulate you a exercise curriculum to follow and few training tips.It is possible to train via internet or video or DVD but this is for a very minimal training only and you would have to pass an exam under the master himself in person. Please make it a point if you start training like this , then be prepared in the very near future either to invite the master to your country/city/location to train or come to the masters location yourself.You should be willing to bear he travel costs and lodging which is obvious.If you have any problems may contact us over a special phone number & email provided.Every problem may be tackled. Q23.I am a girl....cant i learn?[ Kathy , Ohio, USA] Ans..Oh!!! why not?! Tiger Master has trained so many girls and ladies and in fact females have an advantage with the art as it incororates many soft principles.Your gender and sex have no meaning in Shan Fu Jow. Q24.I am very old ummm like 45 , i wanted to learn something like this but now i feel wasted? Ans.Dear Friend..relax,never despair.We have had students in the age group of 65-82! and they have also practiced. Well it differs as the training is altered to suit each individual.Your age is not the factor , its your internal turmoil and tiredness! Q25.I dont have so much time to spare but am 100% serious and wish to start my own branch.I may sound funny but kindly respond? Ans.If you have trained earlier as an martial artist and have minimum of 1/2 years under your self then we invite you to register for the "Instructors Training Program" as formulated by GrandMaster for the very purpose.Many students come with very limited time have to go thru this program which lasts 14 days - 30 days max.If you pass the exams are awarded the probationary brown belt and licence to teach and instruct others in your locationg , town or city. Kindly request for a personal sealed licence letter with GrandMasters emblem.You shall have to bear certain costs involved with this aspect as the masters or GrandMaster are all full time working people , have to devote time for you specially. Q26.Can i charge money to teach? Ans.We dont really encourage this but kindly intimate the grandmaster himself about this and why do you wish to do so.If you are very poor then yes! we dont want to start a business like others have. Q27.Do i have to give you money to run my own branch or club? Ans. Really? you want too:-).We respect your effort as a family member!.If you wish to donate an amount youre most welcome for some cause but otherwise NOT REQUIRED! KINDLY NOTE ;- A MEMBERSHIP CERTIFICATE OF RANK AND LICENSE ISSUED SHALL INCUR VERY NOMINAL EXPENSE AND IF YOU ALSO SEEK AN ASSOCIATION BELT THATS ALL THERE IS ONE TIME FEE! Q28.I am handicapped & sick , cant i learn too? Ans. Dont be disheartened there is a way for all..Yes yes! you can.Master Tiger has personally taught with great care and love to blind students , young blind girls, handicapped & physically challenged individuals also! Q29.Dont you have any weapons? Ans. How about your own body? we use any weapon at any given time.Nothing in particular but we are familar with our style of Burmese staff, little bit of Burmese sword and sticks similar to silat or kali. Q30. There are some black magic mentioned on the site? i am very scared. Ans. Maybe youve not read correctly..Our is a way to fight and be against all negative black magic as such.Advanced spiritual Taoism is about controlling your lower self into higher self. Q31. What is the sexual practices mentioned ?i dont understand and am scared [ Srdan , Canada] Ans. Hmm...These are ancient systems of prolonging ones life and energy as well as some very secretive principles of spiritual power.It cannot be shared nor taught to anyone against their beliefs or will!.Funny part is - when people advertise and claim to teach "love n sex tech from Shaolin" people run to be the first! which we understand due to the vast media attention.This is stemming from a very ancient and deep tradition of magic and maybe one in a million shall ever reach the level. This was practiced at one time by GrandMaster Tiger during his apprentice days under his mentor.You have no need to fear and more over it deals with "YOUR OWN SEXUALITY DEVELOPMENT[ see it as a medical science]not sexual engagment with others or unwanted patners or forced criminal situations".Just as we learn about sex in elementary school!. Q32.Has anyone from Shan Fu Jow ever fought? i mean competitions or tournament? Ans. Ha! a nice logical question if coming from someone without understanding martial arts principle and idealogy; Shan Fu Jow was formulated and made by a master who specialized in "fighting only" was made in an area notorious for "fighting only".Great Grand Master Yue , like his father and his uncles was a noted fighter who remained rather undefeated by any master or style.The system was formulated for "BIENG ALIVE" not for showing off at your local competetion nor for sports or points of any kind!Inspite of all restrictions for the sake of testing oneself- Grandmaster Tiger fought at the HongKong & Macau Friendship Martial Arts Tournament in full contact chinese Lei Tei in 1989. Held in underground Macau city.GrandMaster Tiger & Master Dragon Kamal & Master Leo has fought for 10 long years in various South East Tournaments.Master Dragon Kamal & Master Leo have appeared for over 350 tournaments in Asia and always winning them with very few TKO. Shan Fu Jow fighters are never allowed to fight for fun! nor sport or games due to its high risks involved.It is an advanced art form which teaches the sacred meaning of fighting rather then usher violence. A Shan fu jow fighter will decapitate and maim its opponent in matter of few seconds or very seriously injure himself and the other.There is no kind of control factor involved. Fight and destroy or dont fight and walk away. .A properly trained Shan Fu Jow fighter will break the opponents legs and arms in few seconds and cause immidiate death. SHAN FU JOW IS NOT FOR SPORTS/GAMES OR POINTS SYSTEM. IT IS CONSIDERED A WAY OF ONES LIFE AND A GIFT FOR THE FAMILY! Q33.What exactly is your form of Buddhism [Srdan-Canada, Scott - Arizona & Micky- London] ANS. Not quite my form of Buddhism but our sects or systems way and this has been formulated along time back before i was born:-).In the East , different traditions of Buddhism exists and amongst its many schools is a stand alone sect or school which came to be known simply as Black Buddhism.Its a highly developed esoteric school of occult science and not meant for everyone really.Scholars are aware of this school. Q34.I wish to become a graded licenced instructor but my time is very limited? ANS. Please refer to the "INTENSIVE INSTRUCTORS TRAINING PROGRAM PAGE" Q35.How can i become a member? ANS. Write personally to us or the GrandMaster himself and we shall see through your CV. Why do you wish to join? your motivation and interest in martial arts.After email discussion we shall intimate you about some costs involved for member certificates Q36. I have heard of many home study martial arts course! dont you have one? ANS. :-) Dear Friend? any idea what you are talking about? martial arts cant ever have a real home study course unless designed to rip off peoples money.We wish to make a video training program but only to act in absence of the teacher and to act as a guide book. No matter what you learn must be learned under a REAL MASTER. Q37. Dont you have any books or manuals? ANS yes! we do but they are not for you , we have our special systems manual made by Grandmaster for us all.The manual is given as a graduation gift at black belt level only! maybe he writes a book for publications later on?:-) Q38.I wish only for my CLUB REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE? OR ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP ANS. Yes , we accept everyone and this is possible. Kindly email with your motivation for such.Thank You! your costs shall support our cause. Q39.Which countries have your students or where is SHAN FU JOW practised? ANS.Good question Mark, SHAN FU JOW is practiced in very small elite groups in South East Asian countries of North China , Taiwan , India , Burma , Tibet , Sweden , Israel & Middle East and now Canada.Our represantation is very small and concentrated and under certain restrictions by our Grandmaster. Q40.Master , I wish to represant you and SHAN FU JOW in South Africa.I am a qualified Wushu and karate teacher.[Durban City SA] ANS.Dear Friend, you may or can represant us and our family system only after you have gone through the license programm compulsory.Wushu and karate has prepared you no doubts but SHAN FU JOW is vastly different then both.After you learn and train as an instructor , be be issued with a license and then you may in all respects Sir!
