One thousand years ago, everyone lived in peace in a time called the Silver Millenium. People thrived on the moon and earth. A magical kingdom lived on the moon, and this kingdom was the head of the entire universe. The Moon Kingdom was ruled by a beautiful immortal, Queen Serenity. Queen Serenity lived happily with her only daughter, Princess Serena, who was heir to the kingdom. The royal Court of Princesses, each representing a different planet, were appointed to guard and protect Princess Serena from any danger, using the powers of their planet. There were also two wise cats, Luna and Artemis, who served as advisors to the Queen. Princess Serena fell deeply in love with Darien, Prince of Earth. He returned this love and together they were meant for eternity. However, a terrible, devastating battle would soon separate the two, for some time at least. Out of the dark crept the Negaverse, an evil universe full of hate, greed, and cruelty. The Negaverse was fueled by a single Negaforce --a constant, dependent source of evil. Queen Beryl, ruler of the Negaverse, preparing to seize the Moon Kingdom, put a spell on the people on earth that made them turn against the Moon Kingdom. They became jealous of the Moon inhabitants and spread rumors that the people of the Moon Kingdom were secretly spying on Earth. Queen Beryl even selected Prince Darien's four closest friends and advisors-- Jedeite, Nefleite, Zoicite, and Malachite-- to be her generals and to lead her own armies. Prince Darien refused to be a part of Queen Beryl's plan, and stole away to the Moon to be with Princess Serena while Earth helplessly crumbled. During a lunar eclipse, the Negaverse army invaded the Moon Kingdom. The overpowering attack ended in only a short battle. The Moon forces, sadly, could not compete with Beryl's powerful armies. Serena's four princesses used all of their powers to defend her and the Moon Kingdom, but they were no match for the Negaforce. Princess Serena and Prince Darien perished with the rest of the Moon Kingdom's loyal subjects. The entire Moon Kingdom was destroyed and left in complete ruin and despair. Amidst all the ruin stood three sole survivors-- the two cats, Luna and Artemis, and Queen Serenity. Queen Serenity knew that she could not let Queen Beryl defeat the entire universe. Using the last of her powers and sacrificing her life, she sent Queen Beryl and her armies back to the Negaverse. She also gave Serena, Darien, and the four princesses life again on Earth 1000 years in the future, so that Serena could continue her destiny as Queen of the Universe, and together they would fight the Negaverse if Queen Beryl should ever choose to attack again. As Queen Serenity faded away, she sent Luna and Artemis into the future also so that they could find and alert the princesses if the Negaverse became a threat. And so begins this magical story.....
