Notes for making a Wand
It's is true that wands can be purchased, but a hand-made wand fashioned by it's user is sure to hold more personal energy and purpose.
Making a wand is a simple and quit basic task. Here you will find step by step instructions for creating your own wand! Yet keep in mind that you do not need to make your wand exactly as discibed, these instructions are ment to be an outline for you to go by but first and formost you should always follow your own creativity and imagination for the design of your wand, that is what feeds it your energy and personalizes it to better serve your purposes.
The first wand you fashion may not turn out to be the best of wands, but it will surely hold special qualities for having been your first. It is a learning experience and can be used as a future reference for what to do or what not to do. Experiment with design, use what you know and what makes you an individual to make your wand as special and unique as you are, to keep it attuned to you.
Note: Be sure to choose your colors, crystals, and stones according to the purpose of the wand.
Common Supplies Used:
1- Large crystal point (any crystal or stone that has special meaning to you, and the ideal size would consist of being thumb length and have the thickness of your pinky).
1- Tree branch (aprox. a foot long, be sure to request it of the tree prior to the taking of it... taking without permission can impair the strength of the wand, while requesting of it prior to the taking can provide and added element of positve energy by avoiding any resentment).
Some scrap pieces and/or strips of leather (this can be found at most any craft or hobbie store).
Some small stone, crystals, arrowhead, charms, or so on of your choice that suit your decrative taste.
A hot glue gun (tacky craft glue or super glue will also suit the purpose of attaching the leather and other decorations to the branch).
To Begin:
First you may want to sand down or round off one end of the branch (unless you intend to wrap it in leather) for added comfort while handling the wand. Attach the crystal point or arrowhead to the other end (which will be the tip of you wand). Then take a piece of leather approximately 3 inches long and 1 in wide and affix it around the section of the wand where the tip piece has been attached, securing the union of the two by reinforcing it with the added glue it will take to unite the leather. (I tend to also attach a long strip of leather from under the union to later use for hanging feathers, beads, charms or such that will dangle toward the earth (downward) as I extend the wand (outward), to me the counter weight of something hanging from the tip provieds a feeling of balance, but that may be just my own thinking... So, you go with what feels right to you, maybe even tie something to the tip first just to see how it handles and if it is comfortable to you. If it gives you a good feeling then "Blessed Be" go with it, and if not simply untie it and move on.
Once you have the leather situated in the design of your choice, move on to attaching the other items such as charms, stones, crystals, ect. Be creative and allow your imagination to guide you, this creativity is what adds the personal touch and energy force in your wand. |
