(1) START A FORUM. Get together with a friend and ask other friends, "What do we know most about? Buying a car? Soap operas? Loafing around? Elvis?" See what else is on the Internet about that subject and if you think you can improve on them, start a free forum. As you get members, change the forum to cater to what they seem to want. Seek out the best websites related to your subject and write a succinct, to-the-point directory describing each site. Give your members lots of free incentives to come to your forum. Then find out what are the best books on your subject. Sign up for an associate program and sell those books without even having to fill the orders. From that point you are sure to find more money-generating possibilities. Find out what your members want and supply it to them, either free or with the best of integrity. Eventually, if you get enough members, you might even charge a small annual fee for participation. Only 100 members paying $12.00 per year makes $1,200.00. That is a good bit of pocket money----and who is to say that after a few years you might not get to 1,000 members? Not bad for a business that costs almost nothing to try.
(2) SEARCH ENGINE RANKING SERVICE. With or without software, improving search engine rankings takes time and is a nuisance necessary to all commercial websites. If you learn to do this well and have good software (read our chapter on search engines), then you should be able to earn $25.00 per hr. by charging $100.00 per year for a service that updates rankings 4 times per year. I.e., the goal is to make subscribing to your service almost as inexpensive to the webmaster as "doing-it-himself"----without the headache. Make an "introductory" offer that analyzes the site's possibilities and recommends changes for a small fee. "Guarantee" that the site will be ranked among the first 20 in at least one of several appropriate categories (previously agreed on) in at least one of the top 10 search engines. Update this every 3 months.
(3) APPEAL TO THE UNEXPECTED. I.e., "Instant Clean Underwear on the Internet." Perhaps in collaboration with a local retailer, put a new twist on some special product line which is popular and easy to mail. Sell quality products, give prompt service and a satisfaction guarantee, and it might just take off.

FREE+URLS+ETC. Don't depend of a "free url" but it can be useful. A "real" URL is best but can also be a quagmire.
SEARCH ENGINES. Never pay for "search engine submissions." If you want to spend money, spend it on "ranking software."
ASSOCIATE DEALS. Internet "drop shipping"----except you don't even handle orders. Sell anything starting with nothing. Books from Amazon.com, games from eToys, etc., etc.
