Free FFA Links: "Atomic Advertising." Never pay for "500 instant links," etc. Here is how to get this free.
BOOKMARK THIS PAGE AND RETURN FOR THE LATEST LINK VALUES FOR YOUR TIME AS WELL AS MONEY. FFA advertising is tacky but reputable and effective if you understand that there are only 2 sensible options: (1) get it free, or (2) buy the software.

FFA LINKS ARE ATOMIC ADVERTISING. (July 15, 1999)

Q. What is an FFA link?
A. As explained in "Owning an FFA," FFA means "free for all." This indicates a place where almost anyone can instantly post an advertising link for free.

Q. So what does this "really" mean to the advertiser?
A. This "really" means an anomaly which we at MoneyData call I = T x (R squared). The Internet equals Trash times the square of all trash recepticles.

A single FFA page is trash. It is hardly ever "read" except by the advertisers themselves, accidental surfers, and determined browsers. Posting on one such site is not worth the time it takes to type your name, let alone to fill out the form.

But if you can automatically post on hundreds or thousands of such sites free----then you have something analogous to an atomic reaction. A lot of noise from lots and lots of tiny little nothings.

Q. What's the catch?
A. There are 4 minor catches:

(1) PREPARE A FALLOUT SHELTER. You need to go to Hotmail or some other "free" e-mail provider and get a separate "trash" e-mail address. This is because, for every FFA page that you post to, you will receive an "acknowledgment letter." Many will even spam you with an un-asked for "e-zine subscription," or the like. You cannot possibly open that many letters, and must trash them wholesale. You should do this occasionally by clicking "select all displayed messages" and then "delete." Otherwise, your storage allowance may overflow and thus your address not register.

(2) DON'T SIGN ANY TREATIES. You need to avoid "Link-O-Matic" and other slick operations seeking to charge you $100.00 for "instantly posting 500 links." This and more is available free. (See below.)

(3) PREPARE FOR GLASNOST. If and only if FFA links seem to do something for you----then you should consider buying the FFA Blaster software. (See below.) The FFA Blaster costs little more than joining Link-O-Matic, and will automatically broadcast to twenty times the number of FFA pages.

(4) WALK SOFTLY AND CARRY A BIG SCHTICK:
(a) It may be pointless to broadcast for the same URL more than once a month. This is because, although many links only last 1 day, others will last several weeks. If you use the same link weekly, some sites will put you on a "rejection" list, and your acceptance rate may drop by half. (Note: different pages within the same site do not count as different URL's.)
(b) Even if you have several distinct URL's with several distinct e-mail addresses (quite possible using free+URLs+etc), do not broadcast to the FFA pages more than once a week. You will get negligable value from this and be legitimately accused of "spamming the links."

Q. Can the very fact of posting on FFA pages give me a low class reputation?
A. No. If and only if it is the wrong sort, owning an FFA page might sully your reputation, similarly to owning tenement. But POSTING a link on an FFA can do you no worse than standing next to a bum in the men's room.

SUMMARY. Don't take any wooden nickels. Don't buy the Brooklyn Bridge. Don't pay for "free links."

Guide-In-Brief to all TOP INTERNET VALUES (click on a heading for the complete report):

OWNING AN FFA. In theory the most powerful site promotion. But so far only "Iggy Links" seems worth trying.
FREE FFA LINKS. Certainly cost effective if you never pay for "500 instant links," etc. We tell how to get this free.
FREE CLASSIFIEDS. The most respectable way to advertise cheaply. But don't join a "broadcasting service." Buy the software for the same price or do the "top 10" by hand.
FREE BANNERS. Not instantly effective, thus snubbed by high-flying "experts." But if you stick to the "repectables" it does help and is free.
FREE WEBSITES. Cheap site hosts are not for everybody. But if you do your homework, probably are for you.
FREE+URLS+ETC. Don't depend of a "free url" but it can be useful. A "real" URL is best but can also be a quagmire.
SEARCH ENGINES. Never pay for "search engine submissions." If you want to spend money, spend it on "ranking software."
ASSOCIATE DEALS. Internet "drop shipping"----except you don't even handle orders. Sell anything starting with nothing. Books from Amazon.com, games from eToys, etc., etc.
SHOESTRING NEWS. The latest ideas for any innovative person to start a respectable E-business on a shoestring.

WE LOVE TO HEAR FROM READERS. We will publish your comments both pro and con, and even give you free advertising space, if you so desire. Please find contact information on our FEEDBACK page.
