Why didn't you look both ways?
There was nothing I could do or say
Tomorrow will be no different than today
All because of you and your wreckless ways!
We were singing happy tunes
Making summer plans
The baby made me laugh
I wanted to hold his hand
We were buying a house
Getting a little land
You took my life away
Within a five-second span
We were sitting at a red light
My darling child and I
You were going way too fast
I knew that we would die
I couldn't make my car go
We sat and watched you fly
And as I sit here by myself
All I can say is, "Why?"
Why didn't you look both ways?
There was nothing I could do or say
Tomorrow will be no different than today
All because of you and your wreckless ways!
I will never forget
The emptiness in my heart
You took two years of my life!
Shredded them apart!
All this to go faster
To find a place to park!
My child will never smile again
Thanks to you and your car!
The days will be so lonely
Nights will be all pain
The sun will never shine again
In my heart, only rain
I have nothing left to lose
Nothing left to gain
Please pay attention on the road!
Don't let this happen again!
Why didn't you look both ways?
There was nothing I could do or say
Tomorrow will be no different than today
All because of you and your wreckless ways!

This poem was written for the many women and men that lose children each year to careless drivers. Please, pay attention when you are behind the wheel. Don't drive if you are under impairing medications and/or alcohol and/or drugs! The results can be, and too often are, deadly!
