AVALON RESIDENTS and concerned citizens, please take note:
Our present mayor has been involved in approving projects in North Ridgeville since the 90s. Because our city was ignoring our Master Plan, STAMP (Stop Abusing Master Plan) was formed to do what they could do to stop the massive, potentially damaging housing developments. They also wanted Mills Road extended to Case Road--even through to Abbey--to help alleviate traffic congestion on Center Ridge Rd. This would have been in compliance with Lorain Countys Major Thoroughfare Plan, which was adopted by the city in 1975.
Dave Gillock was involved with, and approved of, all the building proposals from the beginning. He was chairman of the Board of Zoning and Building Appeals and a member of Planning Commission, and Master Plan committee in the 90s. This is how and where the process of planning, reviewing and/or approving the Master Plan, PCD legislation, proposed PCD developments, and Westerly Sewers began. In fact, Kingston (now Avalon) was originally proposed as a PCD (Planned Community Development). But STAMP members circulated a referendum petition, the development went on the ballot, and was soundly defeated.
The Master Plan originally called for estate-type homes in the northwest section of our city. But EVERYONE involved in the decisions (including Gillock) approved of the direction our city was taking except Bernadine Butkowski and Gail Minnick.
