Do you remember when calling to Cuyahoga County? There were also per-minute charges to call into Avon, Avon Lake, Lorain, etc. A call from N. Ridgeville into Cuyahoga County could cost as much as 35 cents per minute. That all changed after my 3-year-battle with Alltel, GTE, and the PUCO. N. Ridgeville and Elyria was awarded the option of toll-free calling for $12/month to Cuyahoga or Lorain County, $18/month for both, or use the new rate of 5 cents/minute anywhere in Cuyahoga or Lorain Counties.

COMMENDATION from the City of N. Ridgeville, which read: A Resolution of Commendation to Gail Minnick in appreciation of her tireless and persistent efforts to reduce telephone rates in the city of N. Ridgeville.
Whereas, Gail Minnick has worked actively for the benefit of the community in her efforts to reduce telephone rates and to establish a flat rate for phone calls to Cuyahoga County; and
Whereas, Gail Minnick has served as a lead petitioner representing area consumers in the City of N. Ridgeville's petition before The public utilities Commission of Ohio to reduce and rstructure telephone rates; and
Whereas, gail was a decisive force in the negotiations with area telephone service providers in achieving a more equitable telephone rate structure. The strenuous work of Gail Minnick and sacrifices over several years have enriched the N. Ridgeville community and Lorain County beyond measure, and her efforts will result in economic relief to residents and business.
Now therefore, be it resolved by the Council of the City of N. Ridgeville, Lrain County, Ohio that:
Section 1. That Gail Minnick be publicly commended for her volunteer services to the City of N. Ridgeville.
Section 2. That it is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the adoption of this Resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all deliberations of this Council and any of its committees that resulted in such formal action, were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirements, including Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
Section 3. that this Resolution shall take effect and be in full force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
