Basic Controls

Here are most of the controls in Super Smash Bros.

Control Stick: This is how you move your character. You can only move left and right. Up is to jump, and Down is to crouch. If you press down in the air, you will fall very quickly. You can also combine this with A to attack.

Dash: To dash, tap left left or right right depending on the direction you want your character to move.

Digital Pad: Nothing... It does nothing! It would've been nice if they could have made it do something at least.

A: Pressing the A button does a normal attack. Pressing it more than once usually does a combo. (I.E. Mario does his famous one-two-kick combo from Super Mario 64) You can do a different attack by pressing Up, Down, or Forward, then pressing the A button. You can also do a different attacks in the air, I.E.If you press Down+A in the air, Kirby will do a Downward Spin Kick.

B: This is your characters trademarked special attack. (I.E. Mario throws afire ball, Pikachu thundershocks, Yoshi slurps, etc.) These moves can usually be done in the air. Pressing Up or Down then B make different moves.

Up+B: Each character has 2 special moves. This is the first one. In most cases, this one pulls off a Come Back attack. (A.K.A. Triple Jump) If you don't know what a Come Back attack is, here's a few examples: Mario does his Super Jump, Pikachu uses Quick Attack, Kirby does Final Cutter, etc. But for a few of the characters, all they do is attack. A good example could be Yoshi. Instead of doing a Come Back attack, he just throws an egg. I hope this clears that up.

Down+B: The other special B button move. This is the one you will use more. This is the powerful special attack of your character. In example, Mario does his Mario Tornado from Super Mario World, Pikachu uses Thunderbolt, Yoshi uses his Hip Drop, etc. It can also be defensive, like how Kirby turns into a rock. All 4 C-Buttons: Jump... All they do is jump. Why? I don't know. R/Z+A: Pressing the

R button grabs. If you miss, you automatically block. If you grab your opponent, press R again to throw him/her.

L: This does a little taunt. Sometimes it's cute, (I.E Kirby saying "Hi!")sometimes it's annoying, (I.E. Capt. Falcon saying "Show me your moves!") and sometimes it's even sad. (I.E. Luigi scuffing his heels. Poor guy.)Z: This is the block button. No one can hurt you until your little globe around you is gone. But don't use it for too long! If too many attacks come in, your shield may break. If that happens, you'll be stunned, and open to attack!

Z+Forward: This lets you roll! Press and hold Z to block, then press the analogstick in the direction you want to go, and, you can roll!

Start: Of course like regular games start is to pause the game, and when you pause it you get an up close veiw of your character. You can also see what is going on around you.
