| Anthropology for the masses!! |
Howdy, my name is Mike Parsons and I've created this site to post some stuff and have my own place on the web.
I study Anthropology at the University of Otago,Dunedin, New Zealand. My main interests are Biological Anthropology and Archaeology as well as the history and prehistory of New Zealand and the Pacific.
My main focus on this page is an introduction to my project for Anat457,a fourth year paper in Biological Anthropology which is part of my PGdip at Otago.
Part of our assesment in this course is an in depth analysis of a complete archaeological human skeleton. This is a progression on last years study on half of a specimen from the Anatomy Department, these were not archaeological and therefore quite different in terms of analysis.
I plan to introduce aspects of Anthropology especially Biological Anthropology to my friends and family so they can understand what I study.I will also include some archaeology links as well as other stuff.This site contains material that I have written for different courses but may be perhaps of interest to other students who can see what I have written on some subjects that I have studied at Otago.
The most exciting thing about this project is that it is from a site in Thailand called Khok Phanom DI. This site was excavated in 1984-85 by Charles Higham and Rachanie Thosarat and represents an occupation over 500 years between 2000-1500 B.C.
As my project progresses I will show my methodology and the evidence I have for my conclusions.I plan to have images to show the bones and indicators that I have found on them as well as a copy of my report.
