A Long Journey:
Now you have a long journey ahead of you to get to the 4th boss. And also, with this long journey, you have several choices to make, which will affect how fast you get through your journey.
Ideal Method: (optional)
A little to the right of the town where you defeated the 3rd boss, you will see a cave. This is Diggum's cave, that little finger like guy that crawls around on the ground. Venture through this cave, and you will come out on the far end. Once outside, head south and you will come upon a house, then some bushes. Cut down these bushes and continue south and you will continue to another house. Enter this one and talk to they guy in it, and he will give you Hidden Machine 05, which is the flash technique, but only if you have captured over 10 creatures. Otherwise, come back when you have ten or more.
Now, to use the flash techinque, you will need a Clefairy, Pokemon #35. He can only be found at the bottom level of the Mt. Doom cave, and may be hard to capture. Then, after getting him, I think you have to train him to a high level (like over +30) for him to use the machine. Why are you working so much for this technique? Cauze it will make the next area a little simpler......
My Method: (Paul's Prefered Choice)
This will save you a lot of time for a tiny bit of trouble, but don't worry, you could always come back and get the flash technique later. As you can see, Paul's prefered method is skipping the flash technique altogether. Believe him, it works!
Head back to Cerulean City (Boss 2 city) and go to the far right, where you enter a little path, and see a bush blocking your path. Now, I don't need to walk you through this, but walk, jump, crawl, and fight your way to the far right, being careful of the tricky paths, and remembering that you can only jump down, not up. Once to the far right, head down a screen and you will see a POKE center, so heal up and lets go.
The Dark Cave:
Enter the cave you see to the left of the POKE center. Once inside, you notice it is, indeed, dark. Very dark. If you have Clefairy with the flash technique, select from your menu the creatures screen and select Clefairy, then select the top command. Now, as I asume, but never seen, the cave should, well, light up. Congratulations, you have just done something that Pokemon Paul has never achieved as of this date. But if you are like me, just pay attention to where holes and ladders are in the ground, and you can also see the faint outlines of walls, can't you. Anyway, you'll make it through, I know you will.
HINT: If you have the bike, use it in the cave. This way, you'll avoid less petty battles with the inhabitants inside.
