Game Info Part 3

Pokemon Card Game (Video Game)

That's right, the new Pokemon Card Game has some screenshots put out. I have both the Japanese and English game cartridges. There's not that much info about this game but I know that the object of the game is to collect cards by buying them from shops. Also, I've heard rumors you get free 1st edition packs inside!!
More info coming soon..Check back for updates!

Pokemon Yellow

Pokemon Yellow is the most popular version of Pokemon currenty released. So what is so popular about Yellow? Yep, you guessed it... it's Pikachu. Whereas in the Red, Blue and Green Versions you start out with a choice of Charmander, Squirtle or Bulbasaur, in Yellow Professor Oak gives you the one, the only, PIKACHU as your starting Pokemon.

The main difference in Yellow version is that Pikachu refuses to stay in his Pokeball (does this sound familiar to you too?) and follows you around on your Pokemon Journey. Wherever you go Pikachu runs along behind you and it's the cutest thing to see.

But that's not all. While the game PLAYS the same as the other versions there are a few suprises. There are quite a few familiar faces turning up like Nurse Joy, Officer Jenny and many characters from the anime. Also this game marks the debut of...(drumroll please)...Team Rocket's very own Jessie and James, later to be featured in the Gold and Silver versions.

The best news of all is that Nintendo has announced the english release of Pokemon Yellow. It will arrive in the US in September 1999. It has also been confirmed for Australian release at about the same time!

Pokemon Green

Pokemon Green is the 3rd in the Pokemon Series for gameboy. As far as gameplay is concerned it plays pretty much the same as the others. So what makes it so special? To be brutally honest, I have no idea.

As I understand it, Pokemon Green is focussed to Bulbasaur because his colour is green, in the same way that Red focused on Charmander and Blue focused on Squirtle. What do I mean? Well, expect bulbasaur to come up first on the title screen like charmander does on Red and squirtle does on Blue. Aside from that...ummm, well there's a pretty green frame. One thing is puzzling me though. For some reason there are pokemon cards in the frame as you can see on the pictures. What does this mean? Again, I have no idea.

There is precious little information on Pokemon Green around and I personally don't know anyone who has even seen the game. As far as Pokemon are concerned I think there are 149 available like in the other 2 games, but again, I don't know for sure. I don't know anything about distributions of Pokemon either but I doubt there will be any new species.

Rumour has it that Pokemon Yellow and Green are pairs like Red and Blue. While this is likely, it leaves me a bit puzzled as to why Yellow and Green have different American release dates. Green hasn't even been announced for release. I am not sure when or if it will because it was made before Yellow version (as I understand it) and Yellow has been announced for release wheras it seems to have been passed over.
