Disclaimer: This is a complete compilation of all tips/tricks discovered or invented to date for Pokemon Yellow. It is divided into sections for tricks that: a) work; b) may work; or c) are fake. The reason fake codes or tricks are listed here is for other people to laugh at those pathetic freaks who have no lives but to invent fake Pokemon codes.

Note: A commonly used item-duplicating code in Pokemon Red and Blue involved encountering a Pokemon called "MissingNo." This Pokemon was a glitch in both original versions of the game, and was removed in Pokemon Yellow; therefore, the code doesn't work anymore.

Tricks That Work:

How to Get Eevee
Go to Celadon City and enter the mansion from the back. Go to the top floor using the staircases conveniently lying in your path, then enter the room of the guy who knows everything about Pokemon. On the table in his room is a Poke Ball that contains Eevee!

Getting to Sabrina
Enter the Gym, then take the teleporter in the first room. From there, take the teleporter to your left. From there, take the teleporter below you. Next, take the teleporter to your left. Once more, take the teleporter to your left. Now, you will be in Sabrina's room.

Getting through Silph Co.
Get a Pokemon that can dig. Enter and go to the 5th floor. Go left until you see some potted plants. Go downstairs but don't take the teleporter. Instead, take the narrow path below you and beat the Rocket there. Go to the teleporter you just avoided and take it this time. Go down and right through the narrow corridor, then pick up the Poke Ball, which contains the Card Key. If your Pokemon are in need of healing now, dig your way out and go to the Pokemon Center. Return and go to the 3rd floor. Defeat the Rocket in your way. Go to the left, open the door with the Card Key and take the nearby teleporter and find Gary. After beating him, talk to the nearby guy and he'll give you Lapras. Now take the next teleporter and you will soon encounter Jesse & James. After beating them, Giovanni will be right behind the only door there.

Finding Coins
Get the Coin Case, then go to the Game Corner. First talk to all of the people, and some of them will give you coins. Then, walk around and use the Itemfinder (if you want) to find at least 100 coins lying around.

Skip the Seafoam Islands
If you want to skip the Seafoam Islands and come back for Articuno later, teach Fly (HM02) to one of your Flying Pokemon and Fly back to Pallet Town. Go to the water near the bottom of the town and use Surf (HM03) to swim to Cinnabar Island.

Getting through Cinnabar Gym
To avoid the trainers in the Cinnabar Gym, just walk up to the machine near each trainer and press A. You will be asked a question; a correct answer allows you to go past the trainer, while a wrong answer forces you to fight the trainer. If you answer the question correctly and want to fight the trainer anyway, just talk to him.

Improved Slot Odds
To increase your chances of winning the slot machines, hold Select during the spin.

Finding Mewtwo
Mewtwo is in the bottom level of the Unknown Dungeon. To reach it, beat the Elite Four and Gary. Without resetting the game, go to Route 24 (Cerulean City -> Sea Cottage). Find the water on the left side of the area and Surf (HM03) down until you see a small "island" and a cave. Previously, there was a man blocking the entrance; now it is open. Remember, you only have one chance to catch Mewtwo.

Cloning Pokemon in Trades
First, trade a rare Pokemon for your friend's worthless Pokemon (like Rattata). When your rare Pokemon has gone to your friend's Game Boy, your Game Boy should say "Waiting..." When it does, shut it off. Then, your friend's Game Boy will finish transferring the Pokemon and say "Trade Complete." When it does, have him shut it off. Now you should both have the rare Pokemon.

Tricks That May Work:

Stronger Attacks
When you attack, hold A and your attack will cause more damage.

Poke, Great, and Ultra Balls Act Like Master Balls
There are many versions of this code about. Some of them are:
As you throw the Poke Ball (or other kind), hold Up + B. When the ball closes, press and hold A also.
As you throw the Poke Ball (or other kind), hold B until the ball wobbles a second time.
As you throw the Poke Ball (or other kind), hold A.
As you throw the Poke Ball (or other kind), hold Down + B.
None of these works with Safari Balls or Master Balls.

Tricks That Are Fake:

Note: The following tricks / codes are completely fake; they are only still here because some of them are funny to look at, and so that in the future you will be able to recognize fake codes when they are given to you by people. Each topic is followed by multiple fake codes relating to that topic, then ends with a review of each fake code. The comments in the reviews are directed towards the inventors of those codes, not the general public reading the codes. If the creator of a fake code is known, his e-mail address will be given, in addition to his name, if available.

Catching Mew
Method 1: Right after starting the game, trade with a friend to get a Pokemon that knows Surf and another that knows Strength (or one that knows both). When you get to the S.S. Anne, show the guy your ticket and walk toward the S.S. Anne, but don't leave the screen. Instead, stand right below the guy who sees your ticket and use Surf to go to the right. You will find an island with a truck on it. Move the truck with Strength and get the Poke Ball under it, which contains Mew.
Method 2: Go to the Cinnabar Mansion. Read all the diary entries in order. Also, use the Itemfinder all over the place to find the Mist Stone. Use a Max Repel and you will get Mew.
Method 3: Get a Lv. 5 Magikarp. Drop it off at the Daycare and let it gain 50 levels there. When you get it back, it will be a Mew.
Method 4: Get a Lv. 5 Magikarp. Go to Lavender Town and visit the Name Rater. Change Magikarp's nickname to Mew.

Our Take on This Fake: Congratulations to the morons who wasted their time inventing these four absolutely ridiculous ways to catch Mew! If you were bored, believe me, this was probably not the best way to alleviate your boredom, geniuses!
Method 1: Do you, the moron who invented this fake piece of garbage, expect people to believe that some decorative truck can be moved with Strength? Sheesh!
Method 2: There is no such thing as a Mist Stone! Nice try though!
Method 3: A Lv. 5 Magikarp that gains 50 levels in Daycare will be....surprise! A Lv. 55 Magikarp! Wow!
Method 4: Hey! This one's just like Method 3, but instead it allows you to get a Magikarp called "Mew!" How original and useful!

Catching Pikablu
Method 1: Go to the Power Plant and fight a Lv. 40 Voltorb. Within 10 seconds, you must find a special rock that you'll now be able to walk through; this rock randomly changes every time. If you find this rock, walk into it and you'll find the elusive Secret Office. Inside here is a Poke Ball with Pikablu and a hole that takes you to the grassy area outside Pallet Town.
Method 2: First, find the Bottle. It is located somewhere in the water; the location changes with every game. When you find what you think is the spot, teleport back to the Cerulean Pokemon Center and it will say that you found a Bottle. Inside the Bottle are exact instructions on how to find Pikablu. Go find this spot and you get Pikablu. Then move to the right and teleport, and you will find the elusive Mist Stone.
Method 3: Go to the Rocket Game Corner, to the place where Giovanni was. Talk to the two guards, then go and beat the Elite Four. Afterwards, talk to the guards again, then go see Professor Oak. He will tell you that Giovanni was looking for you, so go to your room and find him. If he's not there, catch more Pokemon and he'll appear. If he's there, he'll give you HM06. After that, go to the back of the Secret House in the Safari Zone and use the Itemfinder. When it beeps, use the Poke Flute and Pikablu will appear. Talk to him and you will have to fight him. It is good to save your Master Ball for him, otherwise it will be extremely hard to catch him.
Method 4: First, get seven Lv. 100 Pikachus. Then, go to the Rock Tunnel or Mt. Moon and use the Itemfinder all over the cave to find the Ice Stone, which can be used multiple times. Use it once on Pikachu to get Raichu, then again on Raichu to get Pikablu.
Method 5: Catch all 150 Pokemon without using Gameshark. Also, have seventeen Lv. 100 Pokemon. Then, go to the man in Pewter City who asks if you've been to the museum, and say no. Go upstairs and talk to the girl who says she wants her boyfriend to get her a Pikachu. Now, immediately leave the museum and, without moving, Fly to Celadon City. From there, go to the Safari Zone with only five Pokemon and catch a Tauros. Now, switch it to your first position. Go back to the Game Corner and speak with the lady who directed you next door for the prize exchange. Now, she'll be excited that you have all 8 badges. In awe, she'll give you Pikablu, which was way too strong for her to train.

Our Take on This Fake: Once again, a fine job by some immature little kids' overactive imaginations!
Method 1: A rock that you have to walk through ten seconds after beating a Voltorb to reach a Secret Office? Good idea, stupid!
Method 2: I bet I know what this guy said when he invented this: "I know! Why don't I invent a fake way to catch 'Pikablu,' whatever that is, by finding the invisible Bottle in some random location that no one could ever find! And why don't I throw in the elusive Mist Stone for no particular reason?" Yippie for you, moron!
Method 3: This is the most elaborate yet stupid way to catch a Pokemon I've ever heard of!
Method 4: Ice Stone? Do you think people are as dumb as you, or what, Mr. Smarty-Let's-Invent-Yet-Another-Stone Pants?
Method 5: Umm....no! Congratulations to all of you airheads who invented these!
