Legendary Pokemon in Red/Blue, Yellow, FR/LG:
Moltres:Red/Blue, Yellow: Moltres is inside of Victory Road. Use a Sleep condition or Paralyze condition to weaken the bird, then whittle down the Pokemon's health with electric attacks. Use Ultra Balls. FR/LG: Moltres resides at the top of Mt.Ember on One Island. A good strategy is to put it to sleep, THEN use Electric attacks and finish the battle with Ultra Balls.
Articuno:Red/Blue, Yellow, FR/LG: Articuno lives on the Seafoam Islands and I personally think it is the easiest Legendary Bird to capture. Articuno will lose a ton of HP after a few Electric attacks and you don't need to inflict it with a status condition to capture it.
Zapdos:Red/Blue, Yellow, FR/LG: Zapdos can be found at the Power plant near rock Tunnel. It is half Electric, so use Rock type attacks like rock Slide to weaken it. You will almost Always need to get it down to a sliver of health to capture it, so a status condition will help. Bring Ultra Balls!!!!!!
Mewtwo:Red/Blue, Yellow, FR/LG: Mewtwo can be found at the end of the Cerulean Cave, or the Unknown Dungeon as it is called in Red/Blue, Yellow. It is at level 70, so bring lots of Ultra Balls. Use Bub Pokemon like Scyther and Pinser to inflict the most damage, or you can try a Jolteon/Pin Missle combination. You can also try using your best Pokemon and using attacks like Fire Blast, Hyper Beam, and Take Down. Don't get discouraged if you cannot catch Mewtwo the first time!!!!!
Mew:R/B, Yellow, FR/LG: Mew is currently unavailable in North America.
Legendary Pokemon in Gold/Silver, Crystal:
Raikou, Entei, and Suicune: G/S, FR/LG: All three of the Legendary Dogs are unlocked on the bottom level of the Burned Tower. They are randomly encountered in patches of grass all over Johto. When you do find one, you will have one turn before the Pokemon flees. Use a sleep technique to put the Pokemon to sleep, then whittle down the Dog's HP. The damage you inflict will carry into the next battle with that Dog. Catching a Legendary Dog takes time. With Crystal, Suicune appears before you after events unfold. Use the strategy above. Another tip is, once you have found a Legendary Dog, you will be able to see where it is roaming in your Pokedex, allowing you to travel to a location that it is in.
Lugia: G/S/C: Lugia ia found at the Whirl Islands. It can be quite difficult to catch, because you must obtain the Silver Wing for it to appear. However, once you do find it, use Electric Attacks to deal damage to it, then put it to sleep so it can't Recover. You may want to use your Master Ball if you have one. FR/LG: Lugia can only be obtained via special event download.
Ho-oh: G/S/C: Ho-oh is found at the Tin Tower, and you must have the Rainbow Wing for it to appear. Like Lugia, it is Half Flying so use Electric Type Strikes and then put it to sleep. FR/LG: Ho-oh can only be obtained via special event download.
NOTE: Depending on the version, the Silver Wing and the Rainbow Wing appear in different places. At the Goldenrod Tower, after clearing out the Rockets, you will receive the Rainbow Wing in Gold and the Silver Wing In Silver. In Pewter City, an old man will give you the other wing.
Celebi: Celebi is currently unavailable in North America.
Legendary Pokemon in Ruby/Sapphire, Emerald:
Groudon: R/S/E: Groudon is found in the Cave of Origin in Sootopolis City in Ruby, at the Terra Cave that appears after defeating the Elite 4 in Emerald, and doesn't appear at all in Sapphire. When battling it, use Water Pokemon, but watch out for Groudon's Solar Beam. It's good to bring in a Pokemon with Surf or Muddy Water, like Swampert or another strong Water Pokemon like Crawdaunt. If your Water Pokemon faints, Grass Pokemon can be used, but Groudon knows Fire Blast, so it is best to use a strong Normal Type Pokemon like Linoone or Zangoose and then try to put it to sleep.
Kyogre: R/S/E: Kyogre is found in the Cave of Origin in Sootopolis City in Sapphire, at the Marine Cave that appears after defeating the Elite 4 in Emerald, and doesn't appear at all in Ruby. Use your best Electric Pokemon like Manectric or Raichu. Paralyzing Kyogre is an added bonus. Do not use Grass Pokemon because Kyogre knows Ice Type Attacks!
Rayquaza: R/S/E: Rayquaza is found at the Sky Pillar, before the Elite 4 in Emerald, and after the Elite 4 in Ruby/Sapphire. Put it to sleep, then use Ice Type attacks like Ice Beam to whittle its health down.
Jirachi: R/S/E: Jirachi is only obtainable via the special Pokemon Colosseum Bonus Disk.
Deoxys: R/S/E: Deoxys is only avaible via special events. |
