Information

Pokemon Ranger is an action RPG for the Nintendo Ds. In this game you start out as a rookie Pokemon Ranger and must travel the land helping out people and Pokemon, eventually becoming a better Pokemon Ranger. The more missions you do, the higher your rank goes.

You are recruited by the Ranger Leader of Ring Town in order to simply protect people, Pokemon, and nature itself. However, this is not done by battling other people and Pokemon as in previous games. This is done by obtaining a Pokemon and using its special powers to to complete tasks all throughout the region of Fiore.

However, things are not as easy as they seem, for there is a group of people called Team Go-Go, and they are causing problems in Fiore. You must stop them!

Obtaining Pokemon is completely different, as you take temporary control of a Pokemon with a Control Styler. Once obtained, you are capable of using that Pokemon once.

Pokemon Ranger has several influences with Anime, in Episode 432: Pokemon Ranger Appears! A Celebi Rescue Operation! and Movie 9: Pokemon Ranger and the Prince of the Sea- Manafi!

The Land of Fiore

Pokemon Ranger is set in a whole new land, far away from Hoenn, Johto, Kanto, and Orre, called Fiore. It is a mountainous region colse to the sea.

Ring Town: This is the town you start off in. It has a group of Rangers led by Hayate who recruits you into being a Pokemon Ranger. Ring Town is by Raira Forest, where your first mission takes place.

Raira Forest: Raira Forest is just by Ring Town. In it you do your first mission as set by Hayate to test your skills. There is a lost Pokemon in the forest, and you must return it to its owner.

Fall City: Fall City is on the East Coast of Fiore. It holds the major port of Fiore. Fall City has the Lucky Clock in the North and has a group of Pokemon Rangers led by Joe and Aria.

Summer Town: Summer Town is a mysterious place that is a tourist spot. It is beside a massive jungle that is home to many different Pokemon. It also has a set of ruins. The Ranger group is led by a guy named Kamuri.

Summer Land Ruins: The ruins in Summer Land are a perfect place for budding trainers, as there are many wild Pokemon to hone your skills against.

Shikura Mountains: The Shakura Mountains are in the Northern part of Fiore. At the peak of mountain is ancient sacred shrine that never opens. There are many kinds of wild Pokemon here that may be able to help you.

Win Town: At the bottom of the Shakura Mountains is Win Town, a town with stone built houses to resist the cold. Win Town's Ranger group is led by a lady called Erida.

Beaches: Fiore has a multitude of beaches......And these beaches might hold rare and unique Pokemon Species.

Missions

Pokemon Ranger allows for the continuation of the game by completing missions. The missions completed succesfullly upgrade your Ranger Rank. These are the known main missions.

1. Tutorial Mission: This first mission allows you to leave Ring Town towards Raira Forest. First you need to follow the steps and catch a Zigzagoon. Next, you must catch a Mudkip because the trees catch on fire and you must put them out.

2. First Mission: This mission requires you to take a person from Ring Town to Fall City. You do this by crossing fields, caves, and having to tackle multiple obstacles along the way, sometimes seperating from the person you are escorting. Once you are about to enter Fall City, however, you must defeat a Rhydon. Once it is defeated, you have full access to Fall City.

3. Second Mission: The next set of small missions are done within Fall City, all within one big mission. The first small step is to help a woman enter her house by removing a large crate from her door's entry point.

4. Third Mission: The next mission, given after completing the previous one, requires you to find five Skitty's that are hiding around town and return them to their owner.

5. Fourth Mission: The next mission requires you to search for a Staryu to help light the basement in one of the homes in Fall City.

6. Fifth Mission: Once the above missions are done, a new path is unlocked and you can visit the sewers. This starts a new mission. The sewers are filled with Grimers and a Muk, which you have to defeat. Once you have cleared the sewers of these slimy critters....the mission is done.

7. Sixth Mission: After cleaning the sewers you are given access to a Lapras to allow you to go to other cities quickly, including straight to Summer Town. Once here you will get a mission to search the jungle for the elusive hidden pyramid. Once you enter the pyramid, the mission ends.

8. Seventh Mission: The next mission requires you to go back to Fall City and take the path to Ring Town. What you need to do is find a strong Pokemon nearby such as Hariyama and use it to destroy the rocks that fell in the cave when you were last there.

9. Eighth Mission: Once there, your next mission takes you back to Raira Forest, following a new path that was previously unaccesable. What you need to do is follow and eventually capture a Murkrow. However it is constantly running away and enters into the main forest. Defeat Murkrow and the mission is over.

10. Ninth Mission: This mission requires you to return to the pyramid near Summer Town. When inside you will find a path that takes you to a place where you need to defeat four powerful Pokemon to light four torches. First you have to battle a Kingdra which is hidden away behind a path containing Gyarados that shoot ice balls at you. If you get hit, you have to start over. After defeating Kingdra, it is followed by a Flygon, which is followed by a Salamence that is found in a room with switches on the ground that release Pokemon like Machop and Meowth to defeat. After all of these obstacles, you must face a Charizard. Once you have defeated these four dragons, the Entei which is surrounded by torches becomes real, turning the cavern to flames to make things harder. You need to capture it in order to end the mission.

11. Tenth Mission: This mission requires you to take the Professor into a Factory in Fall City.It is filled with Electric Pokemon and you need to release some Pikachu and Raichu but also defeat multiple Ghost Pokemon. Once you have done this, the mission is over.

12. Eleventh Mission: This mission is a long one that begins with you having to take a person afraid of Bug Pokemon into the Jungle, if you see any Bug Pokemon you have to start over. After a point you should arrive at a lake containing a few Magikarp and a Gyarados. Defeat them and you get access into an icy cave containing many Ice Pokemon and a Steelix at the end. Defeat the Steelix and your mission should end.

More missions coming soon!!!!

Rare Pokemon:

Until you have beaten Ragou with the Legendary Beasts at the Fiore Temple, you are unable to bring Pokemon out of their natural habitat. However, certain Pokemon cannot be accessed unless you clear certain obstacles before them which require the ability of a Pokemon not residing in that area. This means there are certain Pokemon which you may only capture after the end credits roll, and some are quite hidden. The following lists those you would not have captured during missions and must go look for after the credits roll.

Venasaur, Victreebell, Meganium, Typhlosion, Shedinja, Parasect, Dugtrio, Feraligatr, Squirtle, Haunter, Porygon, Kecleon, Snorlax, Oddish, Gloom, Victreebell, Charmander, Charmeleon, Torkoal, Arcanine, Exploud, Metagross, Absol, Kangaskhan, Regirock, Regice, Registeel,

Getting Pokemon

In the land of Fiore, you capture Pokemon with a device known as the Capture Styler (together with the capture disk) instead of Pokeballs. The Styler has an HP bar, shown at the top of the screen, and you will have to start from the previous save point again if it gets reduced to zero.
When you enter a battle screen, the Pokemon under capture will be running around on the screen, and occasionally off the screen. What you need to do is draw circles with your touch pen around it. Each Pokemon will have a set number of circles required to be drawn before it is captured, and it is indicated by the number appearing above its head after you complete the first circle. With each successful, circle you make, the number decreases by 1, and when it is decreased to 0, lift your pen and an OK! sign will appear that indicates success.
However, things get difficult when the Pokemon starts moving around, because every time it collides with your capture line, the line will break, and you will have to start over again with drawing a circle. Later, Pokemon will start attacking, and it is important not to get caught up in the attacks because it will lower the HP of your Capture Styler. With the exception of some Pokemon, like Steelix, simply colliding with the Pokemon will not cause an HP drop, but being hit by an attack certainly will.
As you progress in the game, the difficulty in capturing certain Pokemon will increase, and that is when Pokemon Assist comes in handy. There are 15 types of Pokemon Assistance, and some are only made available when your Ranger Rank increases. One important type of assistance is from your partner Plusle/Minun, which paralyzes the Pokemon under capture. The duration depends on the energy cases indicated below your Styler's HP, starting at 1 and increasing to a maximum of 5 as your Ranger Rank increases. Drawing succesful circles around Pokemon recharges this enery cage.
Everytime you successfully capture a Pokemon, you will earn a certain amount of experience points, which will increase the level of your styler. Levelling up your Styler increases your HP, and more important, the total length of the line you can draw. You see, there is a fixed length of capture your Styler can draw, and it determines how big a circle you can draw around a Pokemon.
Let's say a Chikorita requires three circles to be drawn for it to be captured. The total sum of the circumference of the three circles cannot exceed the total length of your Styler, otherwise, the number on top of the Pokemon's head will not decrease and you cannot capture it. When your total length line is short, you must draw circles very close to Chikorita to minimize the circumference, but when your total line length gets longer and longer, you may draw bigger and bigger circles around Chikorita because you can afford to have three circles with bigger circumference. Obviously, this makes capturing easier as the Pokemon will be less likely to collide with your line.

Pokemon Assist:

Capturing Pokemon in Pokemon Ranger can be tough sometimes, since the Pokemon may run around, break your capture line, or worse, attack your Styler and drain your HP. At times it is simply impossible to capture Pokemon since it starts attacking when a single capture line is drawn and it requires five to six lines to capture. Thus, Pokemon Assist is very useful and important, giving you various advantages according to their Type and of course, the Type of the Pokemon under capture.
