The 1999 Honda Odyssey is a great family van. It got three rows of captains chairs. The second row of captains chairs can be installed apart or side by side for easier access to the third row seats. In the drivers seat the chairs lack wheels for easy removal. The center tray table ia s great place for drinks, wallets, and smaller items, amd it also folds down so passengers can pass though to the rear. This van placed first in its first comparison test ("Minivan Vaction," March 1999)
Its performance is also great. Its has a VTEC V-6 engine. It could round a corner at 0.74g, braking from 70 mph in 195 feet, and launches itself to 60 mph in 9.4 seconds. That performance bettered most of the numbers turned in by the winning Odyssey in the unforementioned comparison test.
RANTS AND RAVES
I cant figure out why manufactures put these pale
fabrics in vehicles that tend to take alot of abuse
and collect alot of dirt. -Maki
Spent Thanksgiving weekend shuttling a family of
six adults around. Middle-row described as
comfy, but that handy flip-and-fold rear seat is not-
padding is to thin. Too- harsh ride on top of the rear
axle. -Markus
Fussy photographers hate the power-sliding dors.
They don't open quickly enough, their warning beep
goes off if they're open while driving, and the won't
budge unless you are in park. -Kiley
Don't like the PRNDL lights in the fuel-guage area.
At a glance, it looks like a low-fuel indicator. Also,
rear wiper controls are terrible. i like the gauge
cluster better on the Dodge Caravan- easier to read
and better looking. -Maesch
Love the climate control. We drove through all types
of conditions, from blizzard to warm , sunny weather,
and the entire time the cabin was comfortable and
the windows free of fog. -Yoder |
